As an ex dairyman I’d certainly buy a beef box from you. The care and thought you, the Ginger guy with the Moostache and all your staff put into your livestock is a credit to yourselves. You should all rightly be proud of yourselves. You could even do a mixed box and include some lamb.

Pemberton Beef Boxes are definitely the way to go. Said a while ago you should consider mail order. Farm to consumer - cut out the middleman, direct traceability.

I think you should speak to Farmer P, he knows his stuff when it comes to the beef boxes. Yes he's got a lot less cattle but it's the same principle

Defo want a pemberton beef box. You've enabled everyone to see where the beef comes from and how well you look after them.
I’m one for a beef box 😊❤ the care and attention that goes into your cows would 100% be having some if you deliver.
I sell direct to the public in quarters or sides, sold by the hanging weight. Customers can also use a cut sheet to get exactly the beef cuts they want. It works really well.
You could do Pre - Order on the beef boxes so you know what you have and if its viable.
Here in Australia there are alot of farms that do boxes direct to the public. Its very lucrative here, people love knowing where there food comes from.
Beef boxes - great idea! And the healthiest option for your customers - grass fed, no feedlots with all the antibiotics and other stuff you don't want in your meat. Wish you were closer... without the pond between us!
Had rib of beef from the farm shop each Christmas for the last few years. Proper on the bone full flavour with marbling. Med rare, succulent & tender. Mmmmmm 😋🤤
I would 100% buy a beef box. With all the care that goes into your animals, you can tell they have lived amazing happy lives!
I’d be very interested in a beef box from a business like yourself. Knowing exactly where it’s come from is also worth a premium imho. I also find it makes life easier when you come to deciding what you’re going to eat recipe and budgeting wise. Do it lad!
In France there is a guy that sells his meat directly, people buy a box with a little of everything in it they dont get to chosse what they want but they get a bit of everything once a month they freeze most of it, direct delivry from the farm the day after the cut once a month, what you could slide in with the box whould be recipies on how to cook everything like, beef stew or Blade pot roast etc

I think a beef box is a great idea, one of my work colleagues has sheep and he does lamb boxes where you can buy either 1/4 or 1/2 a lamb, I think they are great value as i know where the meats from, i know its been looked after and its going to be good quality.
I love the farm box idea it is a lot of work. I live in the US and I do a co-op buy Direct from a rancher that sells me either a half or a quarter of a cow and I pay certain amount of minimum weight and I pay probably 20% lower than I do in the grocery store but he also dry ages the beef for three months so it’s really top quality and even though I could probably get it a little cheaper through a different co-op I like it. Oh also what he does is he doesn’t do a monthly box what he does is he’ll sell a cow #746 to 1-4 buyers and the person pre-buys X amount of weight/ cuts/percent and then when a cow becomes ready for butcher they are boxed and sent. So it’s more about Sponsoring a cow then having to do a monthly order which adds even more overhead. So it’s a good option if you want to pre-sell cows for box for a gram for Christmas and the center people get in the cheaper the beef cost is because beef cost just keeps going up. Also if you tried this it would allow you to test the market with less risk and less hassle for the farm shop to start Be well be you
My dad does this too! He loves touring the farm where they grow the cows and the beef he gets is absolutely above and beyond. It’s expensive to buy half a cow but he ultimately saves money
The beef box idea sounds good. I'd suggest messaging around other farmshops around the area to see what type of business they do. Farmer Phil seems to be doing well at his.
Most definitely yes for beef boxes !! And just an idea , if it takes off enough to be worth carrying on , maybe add in a few pieces from other local farms, ie-veg to go with the beef ? if anyone wanted the whole 'meal deal' ?
As a single elderly bachelor, I cannot even buy a beef joint, as it would last me for over a month. But for all your large family customers, I think the Beef Box idea may be very profitable. Maybe even sell direct to Hotels and Cafes..

We buy ours straight from the farm, and absolutely love it! We are in Oklahoma USA
In the USA we can't get citified butchers. It's 6-9 months out. Most of it is now direct sales. We have lost 4-5 of our butchers to ageing out.
I would definitely be interested in a beef box to order Tom, keep meaning to pop into the farm shop to buy a few bits but it’s an hour and a half each way that’s the only thing. Even if you only did the boxes every few months like you do with the merchandise to reduce the work load etc. Definitely something to consider and future proofing the shop also.
Will def buy a farm box from you!! As mentioned in other comments, would buy because we have seen everything that goes into your families farm from the calves been born to their final day on the farm!! It’s a recipe for success!!👍👍
I’m in the US. And with all the uncertainty around supply chains I count it as a blessing that I have a farmer that allows me to buy half a steer every year. I get a little discount bc he uses the spent grain from my brewery to feed his livestock. It’s extremely reassuring knowing I’ll get quality beef at a good price. I think those boxes would go so well for you.

Oh YES to meat boxes, Beef, Lamb and Pork please. Wifey and I have traveled twice with a 500 mile round trip for a day out to your farm shop to buy meat....Please, please do it Tom. ( on a sadish note, Wifey said good bye to the lovely cow's being loaded up)

As I am outside UK, I am out for buying the beef. But I will share what I see in my area.
Some farmers sell directly their beef. One in my village, does 2-3 beefs a year, he has to refuse orders because way to many people would like some. He advertises only to friends and so on and he sells his 2-3 cattle a year easily.
For you, maybe some preorder online should help you to plan it. with some advertising over social networks and youtube to announce when it arrives.
And you do it only when you have enough orders, but for great meat raised like this, it won't last long for you to have sold it out.

Direct to consumer is a rapidly growing market here in the states.
Tom you'd need to build your own abattoir...and chill and cold room...but its the way forward...if you build it big enough you can supply other shops and keep it simple...don't forget to put in a generator....it will pay for itself.... ...

Boxes a good idea....you should talk to/go and see Crawford .....Gloagburn farm shop...he'll know of any pitfalls/problems.
Add some local veg to go with it and call it the Sunday diner Box. That way you can get the orders in and do one shipment per week ready for the weekend

Absolutely would buy a beef box off you. But we love bringing the kids up to the farm aswell. Will definitely be visiting a couple of times before Christmas. If anyone reading this hasn’t tried there fresh meat and produce your missing out.

Have bought beef from the farm shop before when visiting friends in Blackpool would definitely buy a beef box from you guys saves me the 260 mile round trip to get some quality beef
I'm too far away for Beef Boxes, but it is a great idea imho! As long as you have the supplies for packing, and the ice packs etc already. I'm used to seeing the female cows, but it's so interesting to me to see how the beef ones are built!

We had our Angus in beef boxes but only for family band select people as we didn’t have a shop it’s a great idea

Great catching up on your last few videos after been on a camping holiday for the the last week. Whilst on holiday staying at a dairy farm we were lucky enough to see some heifers calf and bottle feed some young calfs, amazing how much I've learnt from watching your chanel mate so big thanks to you!
Yeah Stilton butchers uses cool bags and sheep wool blanket bags for insulation and it always arrives perfectly cold even in summer. Bonus: the wool bags can be used to insulate the inside of the shed roof afterwards! You can also use them to lag the loft if you want.

I would be really interested in Beef boxes especially the less used cuts,Brisket, Cheek, etc. I would buy from Farmer P but unfortunately he does not offer a delivery service.A choice of what went into the box and a range of price options would be really great ,especially for people like myself on a limited budget. To be able to buy from some where reasonably local would be great.

Great idea the meat box we are lucky we use the farm shop about 3 times a week your meat is top drawer but not everyone can use the farm shop not being local so great idea 👌

great idea the beef boxes ! i bought whole lamb boxes before now for £110-£120 direct from the farm . who had them processed and cut into basic cuts which weighed about 19kg . so buying direct for minimal processing is a great saver

Really enjoy the videos Tom and appreciate the effort you and everyone there put into them. It's been nice seeing your farm evolve over the last couple of years! I think the mail order idea is great. It gives those who can't get out easily the opportunity to sample your product and those that are far away a chance to 'connect' with you and your farm.
However, I couldn't promise to regularly buy in that manor as I feel I would be neglecting our local farm shop - we are very fortunate to have one on the outskirts of our town. That might be an angle you hadn't considered is that in offering the mail order service you could be taking sales away from other farm shops in other areas of the country that are trying to do exactly the same thing as yourself in selling direct to the consumer. That said, whatever you do I'm sure it will be great and well thought out. Keep up the great work!

Check out Treway Farm in Cornwall. They do exactly what you're describing. Grass fed Shorthorn, by mail order to customers. Visited them last week. Great initiative.
A friend on mine used to do Lamb boxes and they were always a hit so thumbs up for beef boxes from me!
