    sorry for the gopro microphone
    First of all, this is how I do it, it's not the textbook way but it's quick, easy and works for me. Use this method at your own risk.
    I use a plastic butter knife to pop the bezel off, this particular knife is from IKEA. I use plastic because it won't damage the bezel or case.
    I attach the bezel before the bezel ring so that I can make sure when it clicks it matches up at 12(something I actually didn't do in the video).

      No, the bezel is ceramic and its really hard, changed my GMT ceramic bezel insert, it was super easy, dont worry the bezel its strong enough to withhold your graping force

    Great video. Quick question: I have a 116710, and I'd like to replace my current Espresso bezel with the 126710 Pepsi bezel. Any idea if they would be compatible?

    • @ringlol
      @ringlol  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They definitely should be interchangeable, considering it’s the same watch. Unless Rolex somehow made it not, I work on older watcher so I can’t say I have tried. But without the knowledge I say It shouldn’t be an issue.

    Interesting, thanks! It is important for a divers watch bezel to rotate only in one direction. (Happy to explain, but no room here) What happened to allow yours to rotate cw and ccw?

    • @ringlol
      @ringlol  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You are 100% correct, it is preferred that divers watches don't rotate CW, to keep the diver from staying under the surface for too long. But it wasn't always the standard, older Rolex Submariners rotate both ways for example, I have an old pre-skx Seiko that rotates both ways.
      This watch in particular on the other hand, is NOT a divers watch. Even though you might get the impression that it is based on its similarities with a divers watch. Take another look at the bezel and notice how it goes from 1-24 to indicate the hours in a day, after that, look for the 4th hand(located between 7 and 8 on the dial and 14 and 16 on the bezel) it does one revolution in 24h.
      This is actually a pilot's watch, originally made for Pan Am pilot's. The bezel and 24h-hand allowed them to keep track of two time zones at the same time(easily changed through time zones with 2-way bezel), usually home and local.
      I'm thinking I should do a video on this, but there are probably plenty out there already.

    Why remove all the rings after popping off the bezel? Why not just swap out insert and pop bezel back on? Thanks

    • @ringlol
      @ringlol  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bezel ring and insert has to be removed, the spacer I usually remove just to clean because it can make the bezel turn grainy if you let dust and dirt collect under there.
      The insert can't be removed with the rest of the bezel intact, as far as I know.

    Thanks for the video. I saw you had to insert the spring before putting the bezel back onto the watch. Is there anything we need to pay attention to when putting that spring back in? I'm attempting to change my Rolex 16660 bezel Insert myself for the first time and want to be prepared. Thanks in advance!

    • @ringlol
      @ringlol  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can't talk from experience since I haven't changed the bezel on a 16660, my general understanding to start with is that Submariners and Sea-Dwellers can be a little more difficult to change, due to higher tolerances and the bezel not being bi-directional(on modern references)
      About the spring, make sure it's correctly in place on the watch and fit the bezel with caution not to bend the spring, it's mechanically pretty simple but quite fragile.

      You need to make sure the bezel can only rotate counter clockwise, the easiest thing to do is usually being careful in the deconstruction and taking notes in what order and place everything went.

    • @knudchristiansenandersen6098
      @knudchristiansenandersen6098 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Faidza Mamasalumban Probably because yours is a Submariner / Seadweller. They are divers watches where you keep track of time under water. They can only go counter clockwise, so that you don’t, accidentally, resets your divetime, witch off course can be dangerous. The watch shown in the video is a GMT Master, which was made for pilots to keep track of multiple time zones. That’s why it has 24 hours on the inlay and not 60 minutes as a Submariner / Seadweller.

      Steve John Parker Hello!
      If you can’t source it from an authorized dealer, i would recommend Rolex/watch forums.
      I won’t recommend a specific site, you’ll have to do the research yourself. But remember, buy the seller not the ‘watch’. And make sure it fits your reference.
      Take care.

      As long as you have the correct watch for the part in your possession, an authorized dealer should sell it to you. i.e if I walk in to an AD with my 16710, I should be able to buy any of the 3 bezel colors that the watch was delivered with from factory(pepsi, coke or black)

    • @NIK3SW4GCR4P
      @NIK3SW4GCR4P 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Y NA You can’t change the bezel of the newer GMT’s. If you have a newer GMT (2009+) you can’t change the bezel. But even if you have an older GMT it’s not possible because the Batman was introduced in 2011 or 2013, 2013 i think, and therefore it is not possible to attach the batmanbezel to an old GMT or to a new one.

    • @MrJin520

      @@yna8307 Batman bezel is ceramic. The bezel in this video are aluminum. You cannot mix and match between the Batman model and other non ceramic bezels. If it we're that easy, the Batman model would not be nearly as expensive as they are now.

    my bezel is very hard to pop, any tips ?

    • @ringlol
      @ringlol  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to get the bezel and ring off the case or are you having a hard time getting the actual bezel out of the ring?
      In the first case, get something thinner than what I used and pry a little bit, if you're using something that's made out of metal or could damage the watch, make sure to protect the watch. I've put masking tape for example, I've also put a small plastic bag over a kitchen knife but I wouldn't recommend that.
      In the other case, I've noticed that the fitment of rings and inserts varies, for example my black insert is much more difficult to pop back in. The aluminum insert are also easy to bend, so be careful. You really just have to be firm and careful at the same time. If that doesen't work, try getting something with with a smaller diameter than the ring but not the insert, place it over and press down. APPLY EVEN PRESSURE.
      Also what kind of watch is it?
