A fabulous undertaking of the most awesome concept in turning I have ever seen. Absolutely beautiful work of art. You are the consummate artistic version of the Mad Scientist. Bravo.
Me and my little brother grew up eating sweet crab apples in the woods. Fantastic work. Oh and those chainsaw wheels are extremely dangerous I'd never suggest anyone to use them.
Just when I had decided what was my favorite piece ,you throw a apple in the resin &somehow produce to my amazement yet another phenomenal work of art....which is great!!,but now I have tore choose my favorite ,but I'm in a real tangle to choose between the chosen or this piece ...ow gawd'Elppppp. 🤣🤣😍🤗

Absolutely amazing Dan stunning piece, oh and don’t care about people criticising your the artist not them, look forward to your next piece of delicious art 😁. Cats 😺🏴🏴🏴❤️
Amazing piece, and those tiny you complain about are usually caused from moisture in the wood. I’m not sure you can completely eliminate all of them, but we will continue to try..... great job.
I was wondering if the wood expanded when heated like many other materials? Maybe that causes the bubbles? I have no idea what the thermal expansion for Cedar is? Haha
This COULD be my favorite piece, Dan. If you plan a repeat, my ideas - 1) see if you find a way to preserve the apple skin color 2) USE the apple core with the stem in your work It'd be cool to try different res colors and maybe some apple leaves I love your channel ! 👍
Well done!!! Real great job! Btw...: in the closed wooden area eventualy on one place a lonely bite mark... made by a smaller grinder... a little joke!!! May be funny.... 😂👍
@danpreece you sir, are an absolute GENIUS!!!! lol. This piece is stunning. Surgeon (I think you said you're a surgeon or something in one of your videos), chef, artist. The way you have apples lined up looks like a surgical incision being stapled! Love this!
Beautiful piece of cedar. The overall piece is awesome. Though I have to say I was loving the beginning where you carved out bites of the wood apple. Certainly a very interesting finish to the piece. 💕😺💕🤗💕
Every time I watch one of these videos I try to come up with some item in my mind that could be used. So far I have always struck out. This takes the cake for originality. How do you come up with these ideas. Do you look around the house for inspiration? Love your work.
Dan: Finally, there is someone on TH-cam who realizes the dangers of chainsaw blades used on angle grinders. As a. Safety engineer, I have I investigated hundreds of industrial accidents using these blades. In each, the injuries have been horrific and often times the individual loses a portion or all of the limb due to infection since large amounts of tissue are mangled or the person seriously disfigured. Head injuries common. Some insurance companies will not insure companies who use these blades. The biggest cause of accidents is kickback when using these blades. Kickbacks can occur in 1/100th second and much faster than a person can react since blade spinning around 10,000-13,000 rpm. Best thing is to avoid their use. Thanks for mentioning the problem with these blades in your video.
Awesome work man and I personally love gala or Fuji apples although I am partial to a granny smith because I love the sour green grapes are getting too sweet for me now lol
Thank you! The walls are about 1.5 inches thick. I use a light above the vase to illuminate it. Sometimes I put a little led button light inside the vase... Artforour.org
I just wanted to finally comment and maybe have a solution for you. I do some resin stuff as well and I noticed that you do use the glue a lot to patch.. have you thought about UV resin to patch? It works wonderfully and it's clear and cures with UV light in minutes.
Thank you! Because the apple was freeze dried it can last for 20-30 years. Because it was freeze dried and soaked in resin, it will last much longer...
Hi Dan, I forget what the material is called, and it is pricey, it comes in a full sheet, a full sheet I think it costs about $600. a sheet, but when you spill resin on the top of this sheet it pops right off. I've seen myself, I couldn't believe it. But, it is very expensive per sheet. Maybe I can find out what it is called and get back to you.

Another success mate, looks great 😎. The only thing I would have suggested is coating the final shape with resin to ensure the apple pieces stay sealed. What’s the freeze dryer you have? Time to buy a bigger pressure pot, mine fits those standard buckets, so if it fits in a bucket it fits in the pot. Mind you you’ll find you always need a bigger pot 🙄🤣

WOW ! Very nice piece and very creative, it’s one of a kind. Just be careful sticking your hand up inside to sand any piece smooth. You scared me when you did that on this piece because I know your hands are very important to you as a surgeon.
For anyone who might be interested in the chain saw attachment to a grinder, go check out the Stumpy Nubs channel's video on it. Personally, I won't be owning one of those, based on his, very knowledgeable, experience.
The advice I've heard to avoid resin chip out.... don't push too hard with your tools. Very light passes. I know that's tough for you because you've said you're impatient. Give it a try, let me know. 🤟
