The thing about the new Than axe (that I didn’t notice at first) is that the crit chance from Mortality now affects ALL your omega moves, not just the attack. So it could also be good with cast or special builds. Though I haven’t tried it much myself.
Tried this aspect out today for the first time. My first run I started with the hammer that makes your attack the chop. I then got a first room chaos gate that boosted my attack damage. Right after the chaos gate I got the Aphrodite attack boon. I was doing a little less than 1k a hit by room 3 and won that run but I felt that the chopping hammer feels very clunky although the aspect does help a lot.
I really like the idea of Thans new scythe. In general the aspects that force/incentivise you to use different parts of your kit equally like new Momus are something the game was missing before I felt. I would love some more of those gain and spend mechanics, but using the not fun part of the kit to make the fun part usable/enjoyable is just not the way to go. I have 2 ideas to make Thans scythe fun and strong (numbers would need to be right ofc): 1: Make every attack gain like 5-10% crit chance up to a certain limit and then have the next Omega Move use it all. So you would have the 1-2-3-Omega combo. 2: Give it a different atk string, so it doesnt have the big chop at the end. I think that would fix the whole aspect for me personally. Having to watch your children grow up and go to college, graduate and get a job while waiting for 1% crit chance is so stupid. I would love to be able to atk 1-2-1-2-1-2... for the crit chance and then use the whirlwind and special. The Big Chop Hammer could then give it a single big(ger) swing instead. And also: Slamming a scythe into the ground makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Just sayin.

Honestly, I think Born Gain would be balanced if it either: Primed more per encounter, or- Immediately triggers upon hitting low magic amount and just quickly regens like other gain boons.
I think prime more would be preferable. Born Gain is a really cool idea actually, there just needs to be an actual risk of running out of magick and an actual reason to use poms/rarities on it.
@@BriarBryce I prefer the higher prime myself, but with it only priming 10 magic unpommed at common, as long as you take the Titan Arcana, you can prime 8 times without a magic upgrade, and the average magic use is like... 20? The idea of running out of magic in any given encounter is just not realistic. I was also playing with the idea that they might lower the prime by quite a lot, but make it permanent... which would make it much harder to keep up with, but it'd still be incredibly powerful.
@@BriarBryce The problem with more giving it more magic priming to balance it is that it becomes so all or nothing. Either you don't hit the magic cap, in which case you never worry about magic AT ALL, or you hit the cap and can't do anything else that uses magic. In the case where you don't hit the cap it's still far and away the best magic regen boon because you just don't have to think about it, unlike other regen boons where you at least have to stop using omegas to regen the magick, or even more restrictive things like standing in the cast or doing nothing at all for at least 1 second. It's so good
I agree with what you said at the start about how it feels like none of the axes favor a whirlwind play style anymore. I like the attack speed of Thanatos but losing the crit bonus to one tick of damage and needing to land 13 hits again feels like it pushes you more towards regular attack builds. Maybe Than crit should just be a general crit chance again and Mel axe should be HP + Omega attack damage.
Whirlwind build is really hammer based. you need two things to make whirl build work. Advancing whirlwind for 80% power to make it a ranged move and any source of -cast time for omega moves. So basically Chaos boon. Maybe they should nerf hammer that reduces charge time by -80% and add 40% base-kit or something. Right now it is more of niche thing that you can go for but it requires luck.
I feel like not getting hit with a melee weapon just isn't fun. I don't want to play slow and methodical, I want to find the biggest group of enemies and spin. It just doesn't feel right that so much of the power of the aspect is in the regular attack. As someone who got my first clear by exclusively using the axe's regular attack, ignoring omega moves. If I want to do a spin build, I just want to hold down attack and see enemies melt, not dodge around, and wait patiently for my moment, that feels like a daggers kind of thing. Ran this last night with Aphro attack and still managed to snag Apollo legendary along with the hammer that lets you attack while spinning and I’ve never felt so busted
One thing that annoys me with the axe is that you can't channel the omega attack without attacking once first, and sometimes this locks you into an animation that opens you up to taking damage. I wish there was a way to channel the omega attack without using a normal attack first. This is an even bigger problem with the torches (esp. Eos aspect), where you have to fire several normal attacks before being able to charge up the omega. Anyone else bothered by this? I still love the game though. Great channel too ❤
It’s definitely intentional on the torches, it’s supposed to reward you for holding down the attack key. I do agree for a lot of them that’s it’s annoying tho- it gets me with aspect of Artemis, because I end up wasting crit strikes on little baby hits
The new version working with psychic whirlwind without bugging out the ability to stack up your crit chance like the old version did already makes me like it.
I like that they made the aspect more intricate. Rather than it being THE Omega attack aspect, it’s Attack into Omega Attack. It’s a lot more fitting of some of the Hades 1 aspects, like how Dad spear spin attack buffed attack and special, etc. Now that all weapons have 4 components, plus sprint and cast, there’s a lot of interesting interplay potential, and having one be “you only use Omega attack the entire run,” or “you only normal attack the entire run” wouldn’t be interesting enough.
I think itd be interesting to see a thanatos run pivot to focusing on specials coz the new special speed feels good and it also takes advantage of the sorceress arcana now, i feel like a giga cleaver thanatos wont be bad at all
Oh now Thanatos has the attack speed instead of Melinoe. Bleh, I just finished upgrading Melinoe. Attack speed is kinda necessary to make axe feel good.
Its a nerf for you, personally. Its a buff for almost everyone else. Getting over 13% temp crit was rare anyway and mostly matters for guardians. That 30% attack speed makes handling of the axe so much better.
People complained about Heightened Security? I used that to get all my first wins with each weapon, it was literally a free aspect unless you were dumb and stood in lava or bad at dodging traps in Elysium.
The problem has less to do with the Pact and more to do with the Traps themselves. Often it's simple not possible to Dodge everything so players kinda got used to Choosing to get by a trap rather than getting hit by an Enemy... this Pact messes with that Reactive Logic.
Maybe they should make Mel aspect increase Omega attack charge by 35% and give it 35% chance for spin to double hit. It might make it niche good with hit-on Poseidon or Hestia burn builds.
You can stack omega attacks with that hammer. Get some channels speed and suddenly you one shot bosses when have 2 omega attacks going on a cast. (Which you can cast during those attacks) This got me a 14 min run without even trying. Was siiiiiiiilly
I got the feeling that the axe handles way more smoth, especialy dashing before the 3d slam attack feels way better than before! Such a nice uppgrade, felt clunky before the patch
Have you tried or been able to fill out then entire tree for any of selune's abilities? I am curious is that is something usable or if it would just be meh.
What if born gain’s primed magick stayed until you picked up a major reward and increased the primed magick? Because then it’s not completely permanent but became more worrisome as you get closer to a ton of primed magick, and incentives saving enough money for a boon from the shop before boss fights and such, adding more depth to a frankly basic and boring boon
I'd like so much if Armor could prevent the Mortality to reset. Something like "Reset your Mortality when you lose Life" would be more lore accurate and also fit Than theme :) And it'd make Hephy more interesting for this aspect, which he probably deserves since he is the "weakest" god imho.
@@lookalike4805 @lookalike4805 Well you're right, my wording maybe wrong but i think you understand my point :) Right now the wording is "until you take damage" so its hard to say if its life or armor, thats why chat and Haelian were wondering in the run.

Often it's simple not possible to Dodge everything so players kinda got used to Choosing to get by a trap rather than getting hit by an Enemy... this Pact messes with that Reactive Logic.
Honestly this aspect feels better than Mel's for normal attack build.
Maybe they should make Mel aspect increase Omega attack charge by 35% and give it 35% chance for spin to double hit. It might make it niche good with hit-on Poseidon or Hestia burn builds.
I think they want all the Melinoe aspects to feel worse than the Nightmare Aspects.
@@lookalike4805 doesn't that just reduce game options? like why have 3 weapon choices if only 1 is good. Just have 1 weapon then. Anyway, whatever.
Do we know how Apollo legendary works with whirlwind? Do you get two whirlwinds? Do they both follow you?
the black on chronos insta kill looks way worse
You can stack omega attacks with that hammer. Get some channels speed and suddenly you one shot bosses when have 2 omega attacks going on a cast. (Which you can cast during those attacks)
This got me a 14 min run without even trying. Was siiiiiiiilly
wow imagine that with appolo legendary, 4 spins going off at the same time.
how do you get the slow time effect without hec's thingy?
I got the feeling that the axe handles way more smoth, especialy dashing before the 3d slam attack feels way better than before!
Such a nice uppgrade, felt clunky before the patch
21:41 SIR 😅🤣
Have you tried or been able to fill out then entire tree for any of selune's abilities? I am curious is that is something usable or if it would just be meh.
Ya several times, just really depends on which Hex since many still just don't feel worth investing in at this point.
well dont forget, we will have the hidden aspects. maybe that one will fir the spin
30% from Than + 30% from Hammer + 30% from heroic Hermes attack speed would be bonkers. Might make Big Chop actually good.
It was actually already good before. Slow... but better than the Combo.
AXE GAAANNNNGGGGG THE AXE IS GOATED I LOVE THAT THING
I don't know if it's better or worse now but the Crit Chance feels inconsequential.
I'd like so much if Armor could prevent the Mortality to reset. Something like "Reset your Mortality when you lose Life" would be more lore accurate and also fit Than theme :)
And it'd make Hephy more interesting for this aspect, which he probably deserves since he is the "weakest" god imho.
That means it will reset when you enter Chaos or get hit by Nemesis or lose any health Buffs.
@@lookalike4805 @lookalike4805 Well you're right, my wording maybe wrong but i think you understand my point :)
Right now the wording is "until you take damage" so its hard to say if its life or armor, thats why chat and Haelian were wondering in the run.
Ive used the big chop w the att speed and ignored everything else tbh.
I got a hammer from Echo with onion fear.
I just did a 50% atk speed, Hell Splitter, Appetite lmao
What's the mew max gods per run without forcing with keepsakes? Still 4? Or is it 3 now?
4
I actually really like this change. It's still good, but you can't get away with just spamming the exact same thing over and over again forever anymore.
There is one thing i hate the most in single player games or Pve games: nerfing weapons for the sake of those bots. Just like nerfing the aspect of Guan Yu.😢😢
do u think aphrodite's attack/special boons are gonna get nerfed?
Why ? 🤔
@@lookalike4805 maybe its just me but I find the dmg feels op sometimes
Oh they didn't fixed Chronos being immune to curses sometimes
Jesus Christ, Thanatos continues to be busted.
There is a hammer that gives 40% attack speed 👀
Instead of nerfing born gain they need to boost the other regen boons to compete. There's little sense nerfing things in single player rogulikes
Personally didn't like the axe at all prior to this patch, I still kinda don't like it but I think it is better
New than feels eh to me but ill need to try it some more
I just did a run with it on 16 Fear and it felt very smooth, honestly. Apollo on attack, eventual Legendary, Weed Killer from Demeter, etc. Had final damage values within 100 points of each other on Attack and OAttack.
Whyyyyy add a critical increase that resetsssssss whyyyyyyyyyyyyy
If I may ask, why are you playing on such low fear?
I won money on this run 👍
Yikes on the alphabet stuff
I heavily dislike what they did to this aspect. It’s very underwhelming…
Then we're all very glad you aren't designing the game
@@oldsaddad7274 wah wah wahhhh nobody asked you
@@BigChungus-gz9vw and absolutely no one ever asked you
@@BigChungus-gz9vw wait lmfao how can you wah wah at me you're literally the one crying
@@oldsaddad7274 nah bruv I just said I dislike it. Keep making things up tho
thanatos is nasty with white antler. just did a run w that today and my god, the damage lol
