Roger,in this your new video, there really is a lot-2-learn :-) The interpretation is master clear, transparent and at the same time with musical taste absolutely pleasant to hear. PS. Bass and Drum are also great.
Roger, 12yrs ago you played this masterpiece masterfully. I always come back… your interpretation is as unique as it is rare. You’re such an inspiration. Thank you very much.
Well after 7 nights of watching this (maybe 30 times) , listening to various Monk versions and playing the tune over and over I finally cracked it. Ha! Massive thanks!
I think it’s safe to say this is one of Roger’s greatest performances. He really poured his artistic genius and soul in this. Phew, masterful ! 2:12 THAT solo, though...🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 it is fiery. It takes me to musical regions unknown. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
always a pleasure to listen to your nice jazzpiano playing, i just lay back in my comfy armchair, round midnight, and enjoy......:) - all the best! - Levi
Hello, very, very good, in my 60 years I have heard many times this standard so nice and played by many pianists, some of them I think they forget that within the musical art is the beauty ... apart from the mastery of the instrument, I think that sometimes exaggerate by making versions we say a bit strange, since the pianist seems a juggler of the piano, we still believe that jazz is beautiful and should be played with the love and sweetness that some standards like this deserve to be interpreted.
That was great Roger thanks. Now I know what chords to arpeggiate on the sax. What is the relationship between the right and left hands harmonically speaking ? thanks again.
Your beautiful "approaches" of weel-known jazz-standards always tempt me to sing along. Terrible! ;-) I do not WANT to ruin them! ;-) wolf175 / wolf1750
You play beautifully!! Do you have a version where the actual bridge melody is played as written? I am trying to learn it vocally and I can not play it in time. If not, do you know any where I can get it on you tube. Thanks. Again great playing!! Absolutely Beautiful!
It’s the 2 in key of Am thus its a Minor 2-5-1 progression (on that section). Now try soloing with E7 scale (E mixolydian) or A minor Harmonic. Let us know how u doing. Good luck
I can play this tune reasonably well but am handicapped by my never having the incliniation to acquire a technique like this player clearly has honed. In jazz, if you're gonna improvise worth a damn ya gotta have a really workable technique or forget it!(self-directed criticism here).

Roger. wow. The way you respond to the drummer and change up your rhythm is just so adept. Your voicings are sumptuous!
That was soulful to the max!The drummer and bass were on it seriouly too. Hard to imagine they were not live. 😎😎😎😎
Thanks so much for your very nice comment!

@DavidAKZ I would say that one compliments/supports the other.
Excelent!! Do you have the score??
This is the Piantoteq VST. I really haven't tried enough of them to have favorite. ;-)
Is there a transcription anywhere? Love it and want to learn.
Hello Ben. Yes there is a transcription!! Please contact me using the contact form on my Lot2learn website!
wow wow wow
the fp4 sounds really good. One moment you type that there are better piano: can you please tell me which pianos sound better than the fp4?
Can you tell me what the function of the bm7 is as a ii V, followed by the next.
Thanks!
Lisa

Hey Roger,
What vst is this and what is your all time favorite for expression?
there is no Aflat chord in that song progression..only Cmaj(#11) Bmaj7, and Emaj7, after Gmaj7 and F#m7..
hola me gustaria conseguir la base ritmica de este tema alguien me puede ayudar please
👏👏👍👍🇵🇪🇵🇪
Thank you 🙏
hello as I can get the rhythmic base of this version of Lot2learn roud midnight please like me

+kwixotic Technique alone is not all it's cracked-up to be - gotta put feeling into your playing and remember...if it ain't got that swing....:-)
i love this but you switch the yellow chords to be the ones you ARE playing
nice! Lets play toghether. 🇧🇷
@Lot2learn sorry, that's too cryptic for my wee brain :-(
can you be a little more specific ?
My favorite rendition of this tune, you might like it too: /watch?v=D8MlIjhZ_q8
