Man you got me in tears cause I was the first to own this board in Nashville that I know of back in 95 and when I got back to RVA not only was I opening for The Roots and others but also started working with Gerald Levert! That board and a MPC 2000 got me in the game! Just brought a JV-1080 module and they have a lot of the same sounds filled with 4 Expansion cards!! Great playing sir and nice video!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much! I teared up the other day, I’ve gone a few years not being able to play it because of an issue with the jack board…finally found another that fully works 🙏🏾…I grew up playing this is in church and even when I graduated high school in 2010, this was the keyboard I had until I got my first motif 4 years later…talk about nostalgia and sentimental value!! ✊🏾🙏🏾💯
Any musician from the 90’s know this line of boards and a few others ran the industry in the 90’s. I stacked the XP-50 with a Roland JV-1000 Those analog sounds were so rich and fat. The pads, brass, synth and bell piano sounds were killing and still sounds amazing to this day! Nice work bro, so many albums were made with Roland
Yessir!!! This board should get much more love and respect ! I believe it set the stage for what Kord did with the Karma(pre-Triton) and the N364…as well as what Yamaha did with the EX5(pre motif)
@@Phon91 facts! My first professional keyboard was an Ensoniq ESQ1 my church bought back in the later 80’s. Got my first job at Kmart and saved up and bought my very own Roland D-50. Wasn’t even a comparison
@ bro I could listen to you play around for hrs. You definitely got the sound and chord progressions everybody loves. When I had my set up with the XP-50 and JV-1000 my first gig we did Stir up the gift by Colorado mass and I will go in Jesus name by Hezekia Walker. Killed it You brought back memories
Bro I still have my 60 and the 80 ....I use my 80 on top of the Hammond at the church for bass..... I'm inspired to get back to layering sounds on it . Thanks bro.
Sounds very nice bro, I would recommend this for musicians who gig a lot. Looks dope, has the proper sounds so no gear needed, and looks light (them chords were heavy though not light) 😂
@ would you mind maybe making a video showing exactly how your finger with your cords like maybe just a small little riff that would be easy to play maybe a simple song like amazing grace or something in gospel form?
Nice Board! I Still Have The Roland XP-10. It Makes a Huge Sound Difference When You Use Left & Right Mono Outputs To Get A Stereo Sound Using 2 Speakers/Amps.
Bro I still have my 60 and the 80 O use the 80 for bass on top of the Hammond at the church....I'm inspired to get back to layering some sounds thanks bro.....
Growing up going to churches if you seen this keyboard or any XP series Roland you already knew what type of service 3 hours plus and a kitchen committee to feed us after 😂
That psycho Rhodes is something else. Love Ronald XP. The only thing would say it was weak on was horns. I used to use it for the pianos, etc, and the korg N264 for horns and other synth work..
I grew up on this board! You’re making it sing! Just goes to show that it’s not the gear that gets you all the way there. If you don’t work on the craft, a $6k keyboard isn’t gonna do anything for you
yo bro ive got the JV1080 and 2080 what are some of the most popular/common sounds used for church? I use the D50 stack and MK80 rhodes what else do you recommend?
No doubt..the xp 50 was and us a tough board...I had a friend had one..I had an Korg x2...and must admit I was slight towards that xp 50...I was just comfortable with my Korg...they both were nice..but i think xp...was edged a better for the money at that time... If you have thus board now you're good!!
This one is my favorite for sentimental reasons…it belongs to my Godfather who taught me how to play keys! And thanks for the kind words, thats always my motive…to encourage and inspire 🙏🏾💯
I’d never use the organs today unless I just absolutely had to….i believe the other sounds still hold their own…especially if they’re layered right…these days I plan to use it as an aux board along with prophet rev 2 and a KORG karma

The voices are still relevant and good, but its really the player and you are killin it!
Well brother, your skills are showing keep showing up. From musician to another
Straight killing💯
I am from Brazil, this piano was a classic there, xp50, xp60, xp80...I still in love with the xp60...
My dad has one of these still uses it in church to this day, those same e piano tones you were playing he uses wow
They just work!! When I released this could make a lot of the same sounds as the fantom I lost it!!!
Exactly the kind of contents I like to see on TH-cam !!
This guy is CRAZY!
Love his playing…!
Bought my Roland XP 50 and my Roland XP 80 brand new in the late 90's. I miss them so much that I have the Roland XV 5050 being delivered tomorrow 👌🏾
I’m sure you’re gonna love it!!
Still sounds good!! This is why I still have the Integra 7!
Gotta get a XP -50 bro!!!💯🚀The vintage lush sounds🔥🔥🔥
Nothing like them!!
Plugging up my XP60 right now lol... Thanks for the inspiration! 🤌🏾🙌🏾🔥
Yessir!!!! Let’s hear it 🫡
The XP-50 and 30 were all I needed until the Kronos came out.
Psalms 57:7. 7 My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.
Yes sir.!The XP's were (and still are) one of my favorite models from Roland... other than the RDs.
My sentiments exactly!!
Straight up 90s goodness in there
All day ✊🏾🙏🏾💯
Bro besides you killing!!!!! These sounds still are relevant after all this time!!!!!💯💯💯
That along with the sentimental value is why I’ll never let this board go!!
Sounding great my bro!
I have this very keyboard right now in the church I serve in. It's tough! 💪🏽💪🏽💯💯💯
Yessir!! It can hold its own
I owned an XP50 for years and have the 3080 Module modded out…the sounds were before their time. Great Video
Thanks so much for watching !
I remember this board well… I had the XP-60 for years… still have the JV 1080 and 3080… Never letting them go‼️ Keep killing fam‼️
I’ll never let this go!! Means too much!!! I total understand where you are ✊🏾🙏🏾
I love it!!!! I want to play like this….
Nice playing Stephon!! love the XP-50. Was one of my first professional level keyboards back in 1996.
Same here…I’m glad to still have it in my life
I had one back in the 90's great keyboard
Great playing. Those boards still hold up. When you need quality functional sounds and pads they do the job.
I agreed 💯
I have the same board and you going make me pull it back out. Love what you doing. Maybe an in depth chart or a closer look at your talk music
Go for it!
Gotta love this board... Sounding on point
Killing as always!!!

Awesome sounds those machines had in them. I enjoy the EP’s of the JV/XV Series. Favorite ones are
JV Fantasia
EP+Mod Pad
MK80 EP
3 iconic sounds from the 90s from Pop, to r&b to hip-hop to modern rock…this board is a gem!!
@ go ahead and make a video featuring those three😎 I use the JV1080 from Roland cloud but the hardwares pack a punch

Yes it comes with everything …only catch is , you have to have the expansion cards in order for it to play all of the sounds

What is the name of the patch at the 8:30 mark? That and the one after remind me of a Prophet.

I’m tryna get like this
Yessirrrrr!!!
Can you do a tutorial on how to layer on the xp series
Yessir I will

Ok bro what was that at 4:07 sounding very groovy to me.
Honestly just fumbling around…you should create something with it 😎

Bro was that 64 voice piano in the beginning????
It was the tones from it along with the strings
Will your sounds work with XP60?
Definitely!!
Are these the sounds that came originally with the keyboard?
I have edited each of them in one way or another tbh…many of them require an expansion card tho
