No wonder Eggman wants to dissect him in the movie, the nervous/muscles/digestive systems of a creature capable of safely handling the speed of sound as something bigger than a bacteria would probably break science.

Sure people might be impressed by his speed but I'm more impressed by his sensory processing speed when he's going that fast. If a human were moving at that speed and they weren't already dying, they wouldn't be able to tell what was going on around them because their brains can't catch up. Sonic is surprisingly alert and aware of his surroundings.

Canonically, Sonic built up his skills and speed over time. We see this at the end of Sonic Generations where Classic Sonic tries to do the homing attack and fails but he almost succeedes
