Canonically, Sonic built up his skills and speed over time. We see this at the end of Sonic Generations where Classic Sonic tries to do the homing attack and fails but he almost succeedes

Canonically, Sonic built up his skills and speed over time. We see this at the end of Sonic Generations where Classic Sonic tries to do the homing attack and fails but he almost succeedes

yknow i wish we actually did have a sonic game that really focused on the speed aspect more than anything else.
If only this sort of thing were viable, but even the actual game pushes the limits of user-friendly handling and steering. Sonic's speed has been an Achilles' Heel to his games' design for far too long.

This video may as well be cannon cause in SatSR, he *ran* back to his own universe; in Unleashed, a light speed dash is 390SPD and the speed cap is 3519SPD; in Colours, he mentioned the cyan laser was slower than his own speed and in Generations, he ran fast enough to restore space and time it’s self! And now imagine his super form.
