      I always tell students that they haven't actually studied any maths until year 13. After Y12, it starts to become a far more dynamic subject.
      As they say - the most creative people in this world are musicians and mathematicians :D

    halp i have a dilemma
    on one hand, i LOVE maths with a passion so much so that it might be the cause of my loneliness. im definitely doing it in my a-levels next year, and i'm really tempted to do further maths too as a fourth subject.
    however, my time management is bad and so is my motivation if i get bored (this doesn't apply to maths, maths is never boring). i'm pretty set on doing physics and chemistry too, which are known to be hard a-levels, so im worried that doing further maths on top of this will be too much.
    i think i'll be picking these subjects because i enjoy them a lot and they are my strongest ones at the moment, but arghh help

    • @HarrySurplus
      @HarrySurplus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course it will be hard work doing 4 a levels (especially doing further maths as there is so much to learn), but if you enjoy maths and have a passion for the subject i'd 100% take further maths, it really develops your knowledge! - physics is also great to do along further maths!

    • @nefarious8278
      @nefarious8278 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I may be a bit late coz your either in the same boat as me currently or you dropped one, I’ve basically had to let chemistry go and accept that I don’t have the time to get an A* in all 4. further maths and physics take up most of my time and maths barely any because FM improves your normal maths a lot

      That depends on how it is being taught. Also keep in mind that many people like to lie to you with statistics. Being able to identify those lies gives you an edge in real life situations. Hi! I am in year 10 and will be going to year 11 in September. I want to work something related with business and economics and I have asked my teacher if I should do maths a level. He said to get into top universities, i definitely have to. I am okay with maths but I have trouble with algebra. Is a level maths mostly algebra? I'm not good at physics. I am good with other topics in maths except for algebra. I enjoy the topics i understand but not the hard topics- what do you recommend?

    • @HarrySurplus
      @HarrySurplus  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hello! A Level Maths is very useful for business & economics related careers. A Level maths is heavily algebra based, but not all algebra. It is a vital skill you will need to learn to take a level, but as long as you have the basics (factoring, expanding, quadratics, algebraic fractions, trig) then you should be ok because these topics are slightly recapped & then built on at a level. I would recommend you do it! It is a fun course!

      If you’re looking into engineering, physics is a must have. As Seth said, don’t take business. You should pick physics instead of business and if you don’t like it you have a couple weeks where you can switch A-Levels (however this would result in you being a bit behind on content).

      hey, the A level course runs over two years, so AS level is the topics you learn in the first year, whereas A level is what you learn in the second year. Usually people use the term ‘A level’ more as they refer to the topics you learn over the two years :)

      Hellloo! Glad you found the video useful! A level maths is challenging & can be hard at times, but it’s definitely a good a level to have if your wanting to do computer science. Like I said in the video you are slowly introduced to a level topics & it’s not really hard as soon as you start. If you are willing to work, you want to do well & have a positive mindset I’m sure you would be able to do a level maths. Like you said, you’re trying really hard at the minute and are on a grade 7 so that’s brilliant. Most colleges require a grade 6/7 for a level maths. Hope that answer helped you slightly! • @roshaanhyder484
      @roshaanhyder484 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kinda late but its down to practice and just seeing a lot of different situations. Don't be afraid to grt things wrong and follow ideas that you come up with that might not lead to the answer. Generally, IBP it's best for products of functions or of you have a function which you can differentiate using u= f(x) and dv/dx =1. Remember that a lot of the time when you have fractions, partial fractions is really useful and also re writing the numerator and breaking up the fraction into multiple fractions can help. Use substitution for fractions with complicated denominators as it's easier to work with a complicated numerator and also use it when you can spot a derivative being cancelled out or a trig identity. Also remember to look for f'(x) /f(x) because that just integrates to ln(x) 👍🏽👍🏽

      Hello! It's hard to give you an answer as I'm not 100% sure on your situation, but like I mentioned in the video most colleges/sixth forms require a grade 6 or above to do a level maths. If you're wanting to do a maths or maths related degree at university then do speak to your teachers again to see what you can do, because you will need a level maths for a maths or maths related degree. However, if you're your not thinking of that then maybe do have a look at other a levels you can take and which will suit you! Hope that helps 😌
