      @authenticdetails  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi James,
      This will vary widely depending on location, quality of the installation and what product is being installed. This specific installation with the STEK DynoPrism film at our Austin Texas location costs $8,500 to install. Expect the range to be $5500 - $9,500 for a Model Y.

    Excuse my ignorance but how does removing all that trim not void the car’s warranty? You get a leak... Tesla’s going to ask who the hell removed the trim! Getting a ppf done. Not sure if I should expect or want this sort of overkill.

    • @authenticdetails
      @authenticdetails  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Portlandia, solid question. Great part is - every client has a choice on how far we take our installs. This customer in particular wanted a few edges and seams as possible so we walked the car and discussed an approach. That said, we only remove parts that easily remove and reinstall without risk or requiring any special tools, but it's always a choice for the client to determine how far we go with each installation.

      @sentino68 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had that same cringe reaction too. Pulling all that OEM trim and weather seal. A beautiful job, by not the path I would of chosen. South Florida is not really bad on a car’s finish either, especially if garage kept.

    you guys almost disassembed the whole car... any rattle sound after install back?

    • @authenticdetails
      @authenticdetails  ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks that way, but all of these parts are very easy to remove and clip back in or screw in. We focus on only removing low risk parts from any vehicle. This means if it breaks easily, doesn’t re-install well or has a risk of failure after re-install, we leave the part on the car.
      Teslas are very simply constructed vehicles, so they lend well to this kind of disassembly for quality installs.
      After over 1000 Teslas, we have had zero come back with issues of rattling, parts failing etc.

      Thanks Stephen! When we started the shop I had a friend who had been installing for over 10 years and he had multiple plotters and said the one we have currently is the best choice. Cost is reasonable and it’s a workhorse. We use a GCC Jaguar VLX 72” and it’s been running strong for 4 years. We maintain the hell out of it, keep it clean, disassemble it often to clean it, replace rollers and parts to keep it new. I’d recommend it at half the cost of a Graphtec.

      It did not take it from gloss to satin, however, we film did add more metallic with a color shift to the pearl. At the very end of the video we captured a ton of close ups of the install, including the gloss and the colors in the metallic. STEK Prism is a fun film for Teslas!

      This one in particular is $7500. If you’re using STEK Prism - it’s an expensive film so this should be about right. If standard PPF, $5500-6500 for a quality shop to do it is about right.

    • @authenticdetails

      Thanks so much. Definitely something we pride ourselves on. Jeff has about 6 years experience, Abby has 2 years but installs like she has 5 years experience. We love XPEL film, it’s our primary product. We’ve tried just about all of them. XPEL is most forgiving, sticks when you need it to (especially wrapped edges), and has amazing support and more importantly, customer demand for the product is strong due to high market awareness.

    • @authenticdetails
      @authenticdetails  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That could be an option, but our focus is to only remove parts that are low risk to remove and come off easily or need to be removed for a clean install. Some shops remove the bumpers as well - we just don’t see the reward in going that far as it has no added value to the install.

    With a PPF, do you recommend a ceramic coating to cover it or do you believe that with proper care, things like discoloration wouldn't happen?

    • @authenticdetails
      @authenticdetails  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Adrian, we do often add a ceramic coating to the PPF as it does help make cleaning easier and adds UV protection to the film. However, you have to be careful as many Ceramic Coatings have solvents that will eat through the PPF topcoat - either using a PPF specific coating or a light coating (single layer, 1 year type of coating) is recommended.
