- Hey, y'all! I hope you enjoy this highly requested video. This video gives some insight into how I got into the University of Southern California, New York University, and Boston University. If you don't have time to watch the video all the way through, here is the Sparks Notes version 😂

Most colleges are test optional now, and even if you want to submit an SAT score, 1410 is definitely on the higher end of the spectrum. ~coming from me, who got into BU with a 3.7 and no SAT score

Yesss finally someone who said they have low stats and actually somewhat but not really do. Like my stats r close to urs. Literally yesterday i saw a video and she said my stats arent perfect and she literally had a 4.0 unweighted gpa. Oh i just like watched the extra curricular part and ahhahha my chances went back down
Stephanie Yu LOL those were always so discouraging! I can’t say for sure, but I’ve seen a LOT of people with lower GPAs and great extracurriculars get into USC. Obviously major plays an extremely important role in their admission process, but excelling in your field outside of school is as (if not more important) than having a perfect GPA. However for UCs, REALLY prioritize numbers. Just my observations though!

I don’t really have any talents I’m not good sports or art or a good public speaker or anything so I have no idea what types of extracurriculars I’m supposed to get :( this is so hard >_
I would just find something you are really passionate about and try to excel in that field whether it be on your campus or on your own! I was super interested in psychology, so I helped start a psychology club on campus. And I was really passionate about art, so I took art classes at school and did thumbpaint on the side at home. You also don't need spectacular extracurriculars to get into a great college! I just had to compensate for my grades and test scores! Good luck tho :)
I started a digital marketing agency, an online magazine about finance, also had 2 internships at big business corporations and i did speed ice skating for 6 years. Do you think these extracurriculars are enough to be listed for NYU?

I am the captain of my high school basketball team, top 5 basketball players in Oman, represented my school in the All India basketball tournament, and play for the semi-professional men's league here even though I'm underaged. Is this is a good spike to stand out in the eyes of Admission Officers or is it just another average sports-related extracurricular?

Thumbpaint ok well i just wanted to ask how did you collect all these specific informations like professors and clubs and all of these stuff you mentioned? because next academic year i’m a senior and im applying for a school and a major thats very competitive so i want to try to stand out as best as i could so yeah / also i have another question about the extra curriculars: were they all related to the field of ur interest or were they varied? thank you so much again !
@@noor-qs8bh Great questions! I would always refer to the schools' websites and find information related to my major and clubs/activities related to my major. I would often refer to professors in my major and clubs that related back to the activities in my extracurricular section. Regarding my extracurriculars, I would always connect Thumbpaint to my want to communicate my message to others through various means. This related very strongly to my major! I was also the student body president, so it showed my leadership and communicative abilities - being able to talk with adults in mature and professional way!

thank you for this!! these 3 are some of my top colleges so i was so shook when this vid got in my recommended HAHA but i did have a quick question (or 2 hehe), do you think the IDM & IMA (not sure if you know what this is, its basically IDM but more art based) majors at NYU are similar in terms of what they are looking for in applicants? also did you apply with an art portfolio to any schools? if so could do you mind sharing ♥ ♥ ♥

Taylor Hall Great questions! I would suspect that NYU would look for the applicant with the strongest skill set in whatever the major is based in! However, always look at the description of each major and the requirements for them. When I applied for the Integrated Design and Media major, it said that there was no experience in CS needed, despite being in the Tandon School of Engineering. As for art portfolios, I submitted supplemental material to UChicago, Brown, and RISD, and I got rejected from all three LOL!
