I wish fishing was in wii sports
😂
It’s not but it’s in wii play
th-cam.com/video/Onrp8RDGfms/w-d-xo.html
But can you not free the carp next time please. I love fishing and carp are bad for the rivers
Team Ghxst Officials not if it’s naturalized. Not all carp are invasive if they have lived there long enough, they reach an equilibrium in their ecosystem.
All those gulls tell me that there's lots of baitfish around near the surface. Try some lurefishing in the current up there.
th-cam.com/video/Onrp8RDGfms/w-d-xo.html
I live there. There is so many fish you can even snag
When I saw you were fishing here..this INSTANTLY became one of my new favorite channels...i fish there 10 times a year at the spillway...all ur spillway videos are my favorites..hope to see you there one day..
Since we didnt see you release the carp and say "See ya later buddy" I'll assume it met its maker. lol
Let's be honest, Carp are invasive predators. It's pretty sad but they are aggresive trash fish.
pretty sure where he is, it's illegal to release a carp if you catch one because it's invasive.
Robert Gammett Asian carp are invasive and harmful but the plain old carp are not .
@@prevost8686 Research what they've done in Australia it will change your mind
Grew up in the 618. Haven't fished that spillway in almost 40 years. My dad used to take me when Stripers ran in the Spring. Good memories.
Who else hasn’t really caught many fish this winter 🙋♂️
Wild Warner Outdoors it’s on fire for me
Don’t know what that is like
Only thing I've been able to catch is small perch ☹
Southern California fishing sucks
Awesome fishing on the Tennessee river near chattanooga
I love that your videos are getting traction now man...Keep up the good work!
I really like the slo-mo musical interludes. Artfully done.
Been watching your vids for about two years now. Your editing and content never ceases to impress. Just gotta watch one of your vids and you bet I'll be out this weekend fishing. Keep at it brother. Love from Australia 🤙
Awesome man thanks so much for the support! Good luck fishing!
I love watching your TH-cam videos ❤. Take care and stay safe .
The spillway has alot of monster carp and flathead catfish in it and some pretty big white bass
I recognized Carlyle spillway. I was fishing there before I could walk until 17 years of age. I have not been there since I was a kid close to 20 years ago. Caught a lot of big fish. From flathead catfish to largemouth bass walleye Buffalo drum... and the list just keeps going. I used to call it the wrath of God when you would only feel three tugs before your line snapped and you're drag was busted. Lots of good memories. Thank you for the video. Keep on fishing and best of luck to you!
I really like your camera angles. I feel like I'M THERE!
Maybe you should add a swivel to your rig. When using baits like nightcrawlers, the hook often starts to rotate during retrieve. Without a swivel your main line starts to tangle which will have nasty results in the long run. Another thing I noticed: maybe you should give the fish some slack line when taking the bait. In the videos it looks like they are immediatly feeling the rod when taking the bait. Larger, more experienced fish often drop the bait when feeling this kind of resistance.
Wtf?
Good tips!
I enjoyed your video! Keep having Fun!
Man. That’s like a Coachella for seagulls. So many!
My nephew recommended your channel to me. Love your edits and filming techniques. Definitely some cool videos! Keep up the good work!
Yup just on my phone with Rapala fishin, fishing clash, in reality I've not fished much lately but this spring / season in going back to basics , getting back to the roots as I really got swept up in the muskie fishing as of late, have a nice safe season everyone✌️🍻🇨🇦🎣
I fish there all the time that’s Carlyle spillway. I hope I can see you there one day
Same here
Nick, u should try using your minnow net more often. But bait the trap with bread. Fresh bread works best cuz it doesn't dissolve fast. The little pieces of crumbs that escape attracts them. Ive been using mine for years and its paid for itself many times over with the amount of money ive saved on minnows. Not that u spend money on them, but it just works really well for my fresh water adventures. I just remember u saying u use dog food in your trap. I never leave home without it
Thanks for highlightning the rig set up nick😁
I like the rig, using a split shot to keep your weight up like that. Genius. Also really like your slow mo release. Great video
try running your main line down to a weight, then maybe 18 to 24 inch from weight, tie another line onto main. this second line is your hook line, if a snagg happens, you're likley to only lose the weight. this is good when fishing in snaggy / weedy waters. also crimping a split shot onto line can damage it and weaken it. look for something called ledger stops. they work really well and do little to no damage to the line.
.....also known as a patanoster rig.
@@Mardy72 thanks dude. couldn't remember the name of it. been 20+ years since i used one.
I use snapper rigs with the tri swivel they work very well
Small world - I know that spillway and several others well on your videos well. Keep up the good work and tight lines!!
Gotta love the little carp
You ever try flat no roll bulletstyle sinkers. Spend a lot less time redoing rigs in heavy current or Rocky water. They made for fishing from the bank in those conditions.
Just best fishing channel ever!
I like that drawer system!!
From cahokia and fish alot of these spots..very cool to c someone with a good local fishing channel
You got buried! That looks dope man.
As a fisher I remembered when I was a kid and I snagged. I thought for certain it was stuck on a rock. Finally I unsnagged and it was a 2+foot long catfish that just got tired and surfaced... Happened about 20 years ago and I'll never forget that a snag may not necessarily mean no fish on the end of the hook.
Great video! My dad and I carp fish several times every year in the exact spot you fished. I'm not bragging, but our homemade doughbait has almost always seemed to out-fish anything anyone else is throwing. If I knew how to get the recipe to you, I'd love to share it with you. Good luck, buddy! Keep the vids comin!
Oof that little bass eye was hooked
Another great video, Nick. Give you credit to fish in cold weather. Merry Christmas!
I was there yesterday and it was freakin unbelievable! I can’t wait to go back! It’s Carlyle Spillway right?
I got to tell you this Nick I like your videos because you aren't always species-specific and you're more like a regular fisherman that you would see along the shoreline fishing keep up the great videos and if you want to go on a guided fishing trip you're in Wisconsin let me know
You should try using carp for bait when catfishing you will not regret it
Ever tried a water bobber with a bobber stopper in really snaggy conditions? It makes for easy depth changes plus you won't lose as much gear.
👍 glad to see I’m not the only one having a rough time out there! Lol
I fish around the bottom of a dam and I tie about a 6 to 8 oz. Weight to bottom come up about 3 to 4 ft tie a 3 way swivel. Then you will tie a bout a foot of leader and big circle hook. Like number 8. And you want to get hunge up now your weight is in the rocks and your bait is floating above the rocks the catfish will bite it and hook there selves and pull your weight up out of rocks. Cause there pulling right above. And I hardly ever broke off and that usually happen when I was changing bait or winding them and to go to the house try u will be suprized how good it works. And favorite bait is half a skip Jack or half of a 1 to 1.5 pound crappie. Good luck to you and happy fishing
Gotta love when a big fish spits your lure right back at ya lol
This is the type of fishing I do. Love it
Spillways like that are so awsome
Best fishing channel on TH-cam 👍
Excellent channel!! Glad I stumbled on to it. Larry
Your truck bed is awesome
You should try using thill slip floats in that spot. Keep your bait suspended off the bottom. It’s worked great for me on all game fish species and catfish as well
Haha hes snagged more fish in 2 videos than I have in my life. Crazy weird luck
love 618 fishing
Hello from Oklahoma! Go to about 5:05 thats where he hooks the "BigFish". About 8:50 to the other "big fish". Fun times.
"No way!... See ya buddy.". LOL!
This place is amazing, your fishing was very good, congratulations.
Hug!!👍🎣🐠🐟😊
My dad and I used to tie up to that cable at night when they were running water and the white bass would come up in there and come out with a cooler FULL of keepers..some absolute monsters under there
I love fishing for carp. They are strong and give a good fight
I'm starting to get into snagging fish now. Spillway below the dam hold more fish and easily you can snagged it from a bank.
Living the dream🤘🏻
Right!
I love your shots and editing .good job my wife even stoped what she was doing to watch this video. First time for her. Lol
Start using swivels instead you wont loose as many rigs.
Yup heavy braid--weight--swivel. Then a three foot mono leader.
@@ZZ430T56 80lb braid-swivel-60lb fluro
Yeah , that's chanky rig
One of my favorite locations also. Been fishing it for 20yrs+
Love that spot using bluegill as bait
Carlyle lake/Kaskaskia river is a great fishing spot but can be very challenging. I live there and can say that there is some huge fish in that area from monster drum to giant stripe bass.
Thank you for another good adventure. Merry Christmas Nick and Happy New Year from Yuma Arizona. Dude I totally enjoy all your fishing adventures. Large or small they are fun catches. See ya later buddy.
🌵👍🌅🐠
I love fishing right there it's a great spot! I drive 70 miles and buy an out of state license just to fish right there. Crappie, sauger, walleye, big catfish, hybrid stripers and a over abundance of Asian carp all found in one spot..
Love your videos!!! Keep it up and Merry Christmas
Thank you, merry Christmas!
In heavily rocky fast water to bottom bounce and present our baits with out hanging up me and friends use a modified bottom bouncing rig. Slid a small swivel on your line then a bead then tie on another swivel. Then to you free running swivel tie a 18 inch chunk of 25 lb dropper line with the cheapest snap you can find attached. This is where you attach your tear drop or drop shot weight in that current 5/8thd should do there. The cheap snap is on purpose so that it bends open and releases your weight if snagged and the 25 pound is to your line straight to your weight. To the swivel tied to main line tie on about 5 feet of fluro to a float bait of your choice. Like a floating jig and minnow or Dew worm or a corky and a Dewey or minnow. Cast uo stream on a 45 and feel your weight bouncing of rocks. Let it bounce till about 30 degrees down stream of you and repeat. Fast deep rocky water no better rig
I like that St Croix ultra light you got. I have tried many different rods and St Croix is by far my favorite. I want to get a Gloomis but there a little pricy. The only thing I would suggest is to upgrade to a 1 piece rod. Get rid of them 2 piece rods there a disaster waiting to happen.
Alot of fishermen think carp is garbage. However they are good to eat. You can make stew out of it or make nuggets out of the meat. Don't let the stigma of eating carp get to you. It's a delicacy throughout the world.
Such a great sound beginning at 5:46
Another awesome video 👍🏻
Looks like the kaskaskia river but i wont say which part! Do you guy's have wiper hybrids??
I go fishing like this every weekend
Love you vids
Can't believe you get thumbs down. You are ultra positive. Love your show!
cool looking bridge!
definitely monsters in there caught a 20 lbs flathead out there and a 13 lbs buffalo out there in the same day
Carlye Lake Dam Used to be a really good spot, now its just carp, catfish, and crappie.
I would definitely put the whole shad on lol. Dope vid
Really like your videos just honest fishing well done!!
You can tell he puts a lot of effort and time in em
Thanks man!
You were snagged. Into a fish. About time to do another Carpo catch and cook.
mate you should use a break away paternoster rig if your going to keep fishing snaggy places.
Looking forward to seeing you go back for a second shot at lost monsters , as always great vid !
Alex Lloyd thanks Alex!
Slow day at my favorite spot awhile back I watched a commercial fisherman go the length of the dock throwing out a rope with a weighted treble hook and dragging it back along the bottom. He pulled up a fair amount of gear probably $10 worth of sinkers (3 and 4 oz bank sinkers are popular there).
We have lots of great striped bass here in Western New York. Especially on Lake Ontario. You should come up sometime. I'll take you out.
The king of PB’s himself.
Head back there with a heavier spinning set up with some bigger soft plastics, I WANT TO SEE THAT!
Great videos!! You remind me of the guy on the show roadkill!! Lol
Thanks for sharing👍
Have you tried just using a magic bubble? (Plastic float/bubble that you fill with water)
Hey nick me and my brother caught some decent channel cats out of there a while ago i would strongly recommend using breakaway rigs with long liters to minimize the amount of times you have to re tie rigs
Wow that looked like Lake Carlyle , by chance is that where you was fishing ?
I caught a baby leopard shark like that little bass! Sharp hook, he hit it just right
Haha! Foul hooking a little fish always makes it feel like a monster. There must be a ton of fish in there if you are snagging so many.
I love that you use unreal light rods and aren’t just horsing in fish on those oversized bass rods.
Love your videos
Too bloody-cold for me mate. I live in Florida, when it does get " cold " here it's only a few days at most . Cold for us is @ 50 *, day time temps. Right now were in the low 80s , yea. Cheers to ya for getting out there tho. See ya in the Spring ! Tom Daytona Beach, FL.
I'm surprised you're anywhere near a spillway with that tiny rod. In Louisiana we use shore rods
kirbythebamf light weight tackle is the best... takes real skill to get something in on it.. it’s pretty much all I use
When I was in college I and my fish buddies experimented with light tackle and found quickly that around spillways and dams the fish were just too big. Throw in heavy currants and rocks and almost all of the big ones got away. I found even 20 lbs test got broke regularly. Like an African hunter once said use enough gun, where big fish swim use enough rod.
@@bobgordon1754 we use those "shore" poles with 60lb braid
@@Kirbythediver that's my kind of gear. I use 50 lb spider wire braid.
@@bobgordon1754 yeah me too, I even use it on my Ribbit top water and jig setup
If you go to carlyle and fishing at the carlyle spill way stop at henkels he is very helpful of knowing what they are catching them on
Right on man
When I fish over rough ground I have a tub of steel nuts that I use as weights at least that way if you have to pull for a break at least you don’t lose an expensive bit of tackle also you can mould modelling clay around them to add weight and it seems it make it less likely to get snagged.
This is at Carlyle Dam in IL awesome place to fish love it because you never know what your gonna catch
rocky thunder i fish it all the time. Only about 20 minutes from it.
Hey Nick. Nice truck bed organizer! I like it. Where did you learn you video skills and putting everything together in such a nice way for your final film and post. Awesome job. I sure enjoy your videos. Keep em coming!!!
Preston Ward thanks Preston! I learned from trial and error, figuring out what works and trying to improve upon every video. Thanks for watching man!
That white bass was bait. Plus you should do a drop shot rid with 1oz weight and bounce the racks
