@@robertlucas2420 I am from Harriman, Tn, fished that river as a kid, we would keep the fish and have a fish fry at the local park on Friday to raise money for the park. A lot of people developed some type of cancer. 70's, lot of people ate fish from that river. Justin has caught cats with sores, deformed tails and discoloration. Runoff, untreated water from corporations, TVA plants with coal ash and, arsenic had settled in the bottom of the river, making fish unsafe to eat, arsenic, pcb's, chlordane, mercury are just a few of the chemicals that affect the river. There are warning signs up and down the river about eating the fish.
Yes sir that caught my attention also. It’s so cool to see a guy find so much joy fishing andt passionate about it. I’m am so grateful to all have fishing as a stress relief for me😎
I know right, then you have those whacko people out there that complain your hurting the fish, they have feelings. To me,you made those monsters day especially putting them back for someone else to have fun
I love that part. As a kid I always got excited and messed up a lot of fish. To this day I wake up in a cold sweat thinking about them. This guy is great at what he does.
Oh Justin what a beautiful Flathead I love it when a hard-working man or a woman's plan comes together another epic fish brother thanks for sharing the moment with us. Tight lines and Big Cats my brother and much peace and love from northeast Texas 🤠
Love how you use your hands to land these awesome fish! I have friends that use those mechanical grabbers and I feel like it takes the real interaction between man and fish out of the picture. Great fish brother!!
Cut bait typically puts scent of blood in water and attracts them. Cut dried outside of beef blood works well as well because slowly puts blood scent in water. Chicken liver wrapped in cheese cloth also works well but usually for smaller cats.
Genuinely enjoy these videos man. Thanks for putting in the extra work to bring us along. Fished bass tournaments as a younger man. Had all my tackle stolen about 10 years ago and I think I've maybe fished 5 times in the period. Having 5 or 6k in tackle stolen really discouraged me. You're giving me ideas.
Back in the day, my stepdad and I would have loved to catch some of those throwbacks of yours. They would have been awesome to fry up for dinner. But that flat head...you caught grampa!!! Beautiful catch!
Thank you Justin that was one big flat head and also some nice blue's I can tell the excitement in your voice when you hooked that big boy congratulations to you. Keep on fishing and sharing your videos.
I am a kayak fisherman. I will retire in June and will be doing a lot of catfish in and carp fishing. My bucket list is a 20 lb cat and carp. Thanks for all your tips
"just a small blue cat" (pulls out a 10 pounder) 😂 this video was great! i just caught a 10 pound channel cat on a hot dog today and it was an awesome catch
Just subscribed. Realized quickly you have the same exact country accent everyone spoke where I grew up (North Alabama). I shed my accent after moving to a bigger City, but it always makes me happy to hear it still alive and well! Awesome channel my friend!
I know you don't use bluegill all that much but that stretch of the river all we use is bluegill and do fantastic and some quality fish up to 60lb. Can catch all the bluegill you want off of that rock wall . 1 to 2 foot deep as close as can get to the wall with beemoth and small crawlers. All the bait you want to catch ! Good luck and keep em coming!👍
Another beautiful flathead man. I love the color on them in that area. Ive always been a die hard live bait guy. Been fishing with some cut these last several weeks and doing real good! I just never really realized how much flatheads eat cut bait. Not sure if it will continue once the water warms up, but cut has definitely been out fishing live for me lately.
Unpopular opinion: I liked it better back in the day when you did your videos from the front camera only. Seeing your reaction when you have a big fish on the line is awesome
It was certainly a lot easier on me to film and edit back in those days too. The numbers don’t lie though. My views and watch time spiked when I switched to the chest cam so it is here to stay.
Mannnnn what a GREAT FLATHEAD YESSSS WE LOVE OUR FLATHEADS ! DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT THE CATCH A MONSTER WITH BIG MOUTH IS THE ATTRACTION ! GREAT JOB DUDE
Enjoy the video mr. Justin man that is one nice flat head really enjoyed watching you catch that fish my friend I would be excited too I'm glad for you take care of yourself your friend Billy Simmons
To un-stink your vehicle use lots of Baking Soda. Put it down liberally, and let it sit as long as possible. You can put some half-cut boxes of baking soda under the seats. Vacuum up and replace as needed.
I was wondering about not using level line reels. Then I noticed how you guide the line with your thumb. Neat. 85 year old catfish chaser. Health now curtails me getting out much. 🐻
I thought I knew where you were fishing at the beginning of the video, but then when you swung the camera around to the main channel it was not where I thought. I hooked a huge Flathead about that size on a jug while in a kayak a few years ago. I clipped the jug line on a cleat and was paddling back to shore for a picture; that fish banged and fought until he straighted our a 4/0 circle hook and swam off.
Good things happen to good people. What a great video. Justin I thank you for getting this old man on the river. The prettiest fish in the river. From the couch in Ohio
I thought for sure that live skipjack was gonna be the one that that TANK of a flathead hit. What a fish Justin! Great video as usual and congrats on that gorgeous fish.
As always, another Catfish Kayak (mostly) of Justin doing what he does best...making folks jealous, and then...BAM a dang ol' Golley Whopper. Yeeeaa Haaawww!!!!!!! Hold on Justin. Don't let it get the better of ya.🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
I am sitting in Bullhead City, Arizona and found this video. This dude is fishing where I grew up. He is off the point of 7-mile Island on the Tennessee River that runs between Sheffield and Florence, Alabama. Wow. How weird to see it on a video and know it right away. That islands was actually a mound surrounded by two streams before the TVA Dam system. Lots of old River and Cave dwelling Natives lived there centuries ago. It is the Singing River.
LOL - I live near Chickamauga lake and I would have sworn he was just upstream from the mouth of the Hiwassee River across from Eagle Bluff! After looking at his phone while he was checking the weather, I suspect he was fishing downstream of Ft Loudon dam on the head waters of Watts Bar lake. That area is known for monster Blues and Flat heads. The shore lines of the Tennessee River are pretty consistent from Knoxville all the way down to Pickwick dam. Rock bluffs and sloughs feeding into the main channel are common sights. Unless the guy lets us know, it will be tough to tell where he actually was.
Monster.... congrats on that. Unfortunately we don't have fish like that here in Sacramento anymore. So many people take any and everything they catch. Awesome fish all day. Would give anything to fish like that. Keep it up man.
Get a pool noodle and a mesh laundry bag. make a circle with the noodle and connect it Zip tie the bag to the noodle and instant live well. Just drop it off your kayak and the top floats with the noodle and you can put all the bait you want in it. I used this for mullet in FL all the time and works perfiect.
Skipjack are not a hardy fish. Fragile at best. A sizeable bait tank with very good aeration is a must to support them. Plus some bait saver chemical helps also.
Greetings from England. We have different species of freshwater fish to you (we don't have catfish in our rivers) but I appreciate the skill it takes to catch a fish of that size.
@@byroniusthegreat4300 Wels have been stocked in some stillwaters to provide a different target for specimen hunters. They aren't native to the UK and would be a big ecological problem if they became established in our river systems.
When I wasstationed and living on Bolling AFB, Washington DC, we fished along the banks of the Potomac River. We would catch large Channel Cat's that gave a great fight. The only problem was that a lot of them had open red sores on their bodies. We think that since there was a water treatment facility a mile down river that it may of been having a effect on these fish. But, if we would go to the Northern side of the base which was Anacostia NAS where the Marine One Helicopters are kept, we would catch large mouth bass that didn't have anything on them. I always practiced catch and release with them. But, besides all of that, I would never eat any fish at all from the Potomac and Anacostia rivers.
Waaaayyy too cool bro!!! Man I'm about to have a heart attack watching you punish these monsters!!! Two thumbs up, five stars and a jig for good measure!!!
I’d be measuring/weighing taking pics of them fish first and removing my hook last... so if they wiggle off the board back into the water, they are not lost. Thanks for sharing man that flathead was HUGE!!!
He was sitting there staring at you taking in the moment because you are the biggest youtuber he ever caught.
Hahaha!!!
That, or thanking Justin for letting him go!
