Bringing an old ‘73 cb500 chopper back to life as we speak. I don’t think I’ll be running curves like that but good to see how much power she will have! I’ve only heard it run once and it caught on fire lol. Been in build process for 2 years. The anticipation is killing me!

Pushing it nicely! Love that scraping when you hit the limits. One thing I love about this bike is that it actually has decent brakes. Especially compared to the competing brands offers. Sweet video :)

If you rub your knees on the road ,you should rub the footpegs less,
but it is true that the noise of rubbing footpegs is a beautiful symphony !

yea you are right! But I don't really feel comfortable riding hang-off with the CB. The whole bike starts to wobble around as soon as you move your butt from one side to the other quickly at higher speeds because the bike's suspension is not exactly the best ;)
But maybe I'll try and check out some hang-off training courses next season. I really would like to further improve my skills!
Here in Brazil it's actually really hard to find one of these on the road, and I also think it is just better than the Suzuki GS 500, using iridium spark plugs and a K&N filter the CB 500 can reach 220 km/h easily

I wish we had roads like that over here... Even out decent roads are now ruined buy crappy resurfacing and pot holes! Sooooo jealous!
this particular one has been in some good condition for a rather long time because heavy trucks are not allowed to drive on it. But in general Austrian roads often suck quite bad too. Especially the temperature differences between summer and winter are ruining our roads rather quickly!
This is more bitumen scraping than you would see at an endometrial biopsy..

Another awesome adventure! How long did it take before you weren't afraid of taking corners like that...or were you ever afraid? I mean, how do you learn to have such quick reflexes? Cornering is my biggest fear. Your rides are so cool!
thank you so much! :) I'm riding my little Honda for 4 and a half years now. Since I started to ride at a young age the Austrian laws made me ride her as restricted version (27 bhp instead of the almighty ~50 bhp) for the first two years. In that time I just rode her around for fun but had no intention of learning to ride fast.
My riding really started to improve when I joined these group rides with more experienced and much quicker bikers. Following them I learned to ride a safe and quick riding line through the corners. And at that time I've also realized that I need to feel completely relaxed on my Honda to be able to go fast. The moment I tense up or feel scared is the moment I make mistakes.
So whenever I want to ride fast, I get into this relaxed but completely focused state of mind. The road ahead of me is the only thing I'm noticing. I look where I want to go, keep a clean and quick line through the corners and relax at the same time. Then I'll be riding fast more or less automatically.
Sounds kind of strange but it works for me like that. But the most important thing for me is to stay calm and focused at the same time!

CJ Kjellman not really. But my right index finger is always covering the front brake lever. It 'comes off' when I need to squeeze the throttle hard ;)

Great riding my friend! Funny enough, I have my right hand exactly opposite of you haha; I grip throttle with thumb and index, and use other last three fingers for braking while rev-matching :D. Hopefully, I'll have an older CB soon, love the sound and bodywork.

When I scrap pegs I always jolt back like I'm not expecting it to happen. I think I need to practice it more and maybe work on keeping the peg on the ground for longer.. Any tips ? :)
I know what you mean hehe. I basically started to get comfortable with the scraping pegs as recently as this season ;) Although I'd rather have to say that I started to feel more secure about riding bigger/greater lean angles in general. At this point the scraping pegs will sort of automatically become part of the whole experience. You'll get used to it very fast if you concentrate on staying relaxed. Sounds a bit weird, I know. But the whole riding thing feels kind of 'automated' to me so it is not that easy to talk about what I'm actually doing on my bike lol.
You also could go and look for a big and empty parking lot with some decent tarmac. Ride in circles at a speed you feel comfortable with. Start to lean down further and further (in tiny steps) as long as you feel safe. You could keep on doing that until you scrape the pegs basically. Then you could start to work on getting used to that feeling. At least that's what I want to try some time next season. To get even more secure.
And now I've made you read all this without telling you my biggest secret (which is not a real secret by the way ;) ): the footpegs on the old CB500 are mounted very low. That's why they scrape so early and easily ;)

Watching this makes me want to buy a CB500 next week. It is a very versatile bike and now I can see it is not a slow as others have commented. I wonder what is would be like for long distance touring?
works decently for touring. Doing up to 600kms of riding per day with it.

Love the sound of your bikes engine! Its almost like a cafe racer sound but with more power plus the engine sounds clean too. Can you give me a tipper on how to keep your bike in pristine condition?
thanks! Actually I can't. Because I don't care much about my bike's condition. Don't get me wrong. I love my little Honda. But these bikes are so cheap that I won't even bother with maintaining them too much. Whenever she will brake down (which will definitely happen at some point) I'll just borrow some money from my parents and get myself a new used one ;)
Although I can add that not riding in winter (roads covered in salt) helps a lot with preserving a decent condition ;)
Neat! I wish I could do the same but I cant afford buying a new one at the moment. I have no choice but to keep it under maintenance. Hope you get a better one like a yamaha r6 or any for your next bike bro to continue your awsome vids!

I like Austria, We used to drive on bikes there a lot, or snowboarding in winter. I love that place, I can't wait for the real powder snow :))) and then I hope I will have a new bike for summer and we can go ride the mountain roads too.

Litttle bikes Teach corner speed, if you lose speed you have to make it up in the next 4 corners but on a big bike if you lose speed you just wind on and get it back, they should make it mandatory for people to ride 125s for a year first

It is locked cb500? How many HP? You need to consider to unlock it :]
I have cb500 too, it really kick ass on 1st gear, wheelies without clutch isnt any problem :] And it is really easy to ride and predictable motorcycle.
It is 'unlocked' :)
Obviously you know the roads there, but do you do a pre-ride ride to check road surface (for oil and debris) or do you just go for it?
Anytime I want to ride like that I definitely do a pre-ride first!

P.S. sie ist auf 48PS (35KW) offiziell drosselbar)
