Amazing video. Great quality and no music which is the best thing in a riding video. Respect for you Schaaf, please keep your videos coming as much as possible :) Cheers from the Nederlands
Wouawww! Beautiful landscapes and amazing road ...what else !? Thank for this video "Gold Finger" Ps: it's good to see the leaves on the trees and not on the roads!
This is madness! I have been watching your videos for a long time, and they used to show very good, pleasant riding. Then they (your riding and movies) were getting better and better. And now, I have to say it: they are extraordinary! It was really impressive, really, really good :). I'm not sure if I'm courageous enough to ride so fast on such a road. I like your movies also because I own CB500, it is my first and only bike, and I think that it is immortal :D. I bought gopro recently, so I'm going to shoot something this year. Cheers! :)
thank you very much for this nice comment!! Your words are very encouraging and I will try my best to continue with riding and improving my skills this year as well! Have fun with your CB and GoPro and ride safe!!!
OMG...that was such a cool road and those tunnels were amazing...so narrow! The roads are narrow in general, it looks like...some of those cars were hella close!! Friendly goats but I wonder if they ever get hit by cars & bikes. Incredible scenery!
well you're certainly right thinking that space is a good in rather short supply up there ;) But riding on such roads is always something special. Not only because of the amazing scenery but also because of the way how most cagers act on these roads. 95% of the time they are 'crawling' up and down the roads, stopping every second to take pictures etc. I can understand why - but I'm not patient enough to let them spoil my fun ;)
I'm seriously making a list of places that I want to visit on a bike. Isle of Man is on the 1st place, this one is now on 2nd :D Great video, also these popping comments made me chuckle quite a bit. Keep posting videos, cheers!
Schaaf is the narrow-twisty mountain road's RoyalJordanian RoyalJordanian is the "cagerpacked"-crammed London road's Schaaf! :) You, gentlemen are one of the best riders on YT (and my favourite ones as well) :D Awesome product' Schaaf, again. Watching Your videos is just so much fun and always amazes me! Keep it up for more of these stunning videos! :)
So eine schöne Straße! Und der Ausblick. Danke für die Bilder Schaaf! Und jetzt weiß ich auch woher die Ziegen im "Best of- Cowfiltering and co" kommen :-D ride safe!
Holy sh!t @ 11:04: all those stones on the road, and you just race through! O_O Breathtaking video! Next summer I've got to take my motorcycle into the mountains, rather than just hiking around.
Wish I could like it twice! Great video and excellent outtro as well. Beautiful road and skillful driving! I don't think I could ride it that fast if I was on a bike with twice the power and half the weight haha.
I was watching your videos [your honda is cool, love the gauges] and a question poped in my head. Is it legal to filter in Austria/Switzerland/Germany? What about lane splitting and all the similar stuff?
in Austria it is legal to filter past other vehicles as long as they are not moving and as long as there's enough space. I think. I actually don't know the laws. But Austrian bikers do filter.
Pugzilla69 depends on how much snow we get here in Vienna. But since road maintenance is using a lot of salt on our roads in the wintertime I wouldn't recommend it.
When watching this Video, I feel the need to get a 390 Duke after my current 125cc Yamaha XT, not a cool 3 Cylinder Naked like the MT-09. Looks like sooo much fun! Schaaf, to be honest, I personally think you'r blessed in a way that you probably aren't able to get the newest Superbike, but have to stick with this "slow" CB500 and a sheet of paper as a navigator. It seems to me that the very thing you'r doing right here is what "riding a motorbike" actually means. At the end of the day, this is what makes you happy. O.o Egal, größten Respekt vor deiner Fahrweise, keep the rubber side down. ;)
Sers Schaaf, Prost Neujahr!
Road itself was built for military purposes by Italian army in 1938, since this area was signe to/occupied by Italy after WW1, building took 18 months, paved in 1996, highest point 2055m. You were lucky that you didn't went earlier this year cause last 3km were closed ,cause it was burried by rock avalanche when whole wall came off last year during winter. Impressive driving skills tho :)
I've only watched a few minutes of this video so far, but I'll watch the rest tomorrow. It's hard to even explain how much I want to go out and ride but the weather here is atrocious. Try rendering your videos above 1080 to get them looking better on TH-cam. The file sizes aren't that bad if your internet is half way decent. Keep them coming. :)
My season's officially over as well. Last night the guys from road maintenance started to 'protect' our roads against ice with tons of fine salt. That's the point where I stop riding my Honda :) I record all my videos in 720p/50. I need the higher framerate for slowmotions. But don't worry, next season's videos will be recorded with a GoPro 3+ Black Edition ;)
Schaaf You'll probably find that they bring out a newer version before you buy the 3rd generation. xD I'll be touring Scotland next year and then Europe the year after so this road is definitely going on my list. :)
Murcuseo don't worry, the 3+ was released this summer. So I should be able to record with the 'latest GoPro' for at least 3-4 months next season ehehehe
Mangart road is actually in some pretty decent condition!! :) Some parts of the road through Triglav National Park though are a bit more 'adventurous' ;)) Thank you!
Schaaf which roads in slovenia have u ridden? i am from Škofja Loka city if you plan to visit Slovenia some more i can tell you which roads are good. I ride a kawasaki z750 so i have some biker expirience :)
pumpahhh I've only been to Slovenija for a couple of hours unfortunately :) I came from Italy, went through the National Park and up to Mangart, rode through Kranjska Gora and traveled back to Austria over the "Wurzenpass". Thanks for your offer!
The top 'loop' was still closed by metres of snow 2 weeks ago (July). I let the bike run down hill with the motor off looking at the views... Nearly hit a cyclist - I guess he didn't hear a silent GSA!
I wouldn't use any youtube video editing rendering or correcting software. Just encode in HD, and upload as it is. You can definitely get better quality than this video. I'm sure I've seen some of your other vids that were better. But some are like this one.. kind of blurry.. which is a shame because they're such awesome rides and scenery. =)
No 'correction software'? How on earth should I edit my videos then? You do know that you need to render your videos after you've edited them? I'm not joking when I'm telling you guys that my render settings are 100% YT optimized. Highest quality possible. I'm editing videos for more than 6 years now. Don't you think I might have learned a thing or two about video compression? YT changed their compression algorithms a couple of months ago to reduce video file sizes on their servers. It's their hardcore compression method which creates these ugly 'pixel-blocks'. Other vids of mine look better because they were either filmed under different lighting conditions (the less light/shadow changes you have the better your video will look) or with different equipment. (with my DSLR) -- I tried a lot of different things to get you the best quality as possible. It looks like it can't get any better than this. But I'll ask the guys at the TH-cam support forums just to make this sure 100% -- I'd still like to thank you for your comment though. Every form of feedback is welcome here!!
Well you posted the tooltip mentioning the video quality.. which definitely opens you up for comments on the matter. No need to be defensive about it with me. If you're right and the problem is on youtubes side then that's a bummer, but there are other high quality vids uploaded recently which are very clear. I seem to have misinterpreted what you said about using youtube optimized rendering settings. I thought you meant you were using youtube software to correct or "enhance" your video. I know youtube does have options for that, and from what I've seen it makes the quality worse. but I guess you mean that you've found a guide or something to tell you what recording & rendering settings to use with your camera and editing software for the best results in youtube. IMO, for that videos you do, you want the best quality as possible, since the scenery is so great. =) Anyway, I don't mean to insult you, but I am sure you can achieve better results with some simple experimentation in rendering formats. OK hope it gets solved, your riding videos are top notch, but really need that crisp picture for full effect.
Frejborg Actually there's a simple solution to prove my point here. I'll just upload the RAW GoPro video (without any editing, rendering, compressing done on my side) to TH-cam. Then we'll see if the video looks better. I'll give this a try during the next couple of days. I'll send you a message with the link to the video URL as soon as it's uploaded. I hope you are right and there is a way to improve my results. In the meantime it would be awesome if you could send me some links to the videos you saw which were of better video quality. Consider that they have to be shot with a Gopro HD Hero 2 and the same, rapid light/shadow changes on the road surface, just like in this video here!
Schaaf I thought that the racing the rain video was quite better. Now that I look back at it, it's not perfect either but... still better. Maybe it's just because of lighting? I'm no expert. Shouldn't there be a 1080p option for your videos if you render in HD?
Frejborg the 'racing in the rain' video was rendered with exactly the same settings like this one here. Like I've said, it depends a lot on how many different dark/light (or shadows/lights) areas appear in the video. The TH-cam compression can't handle these very well. And No, I can't render 1080p (1920x1080 pixels) if I record in 720p (1280x720) pixels. I always record in 720p because it gives me the option to record with 50 frames per second rather than just 25. I need the higher frame rate for possible slow-mos. I really appreciate your comments, trust me. But please believe me as well that I know quite a thing or two about video editing / video compression. I will upload a RAW GoPro video soon for you to see. It just will take me a couple of days because I'm rather busy at the moment!
They was glad to see you alive again, at least one of them...lol She was the one who bet on you, and she won the pot, that is why she waved, you brought her a weeks pay, maybe even more......?@"@? Interesting area, so many nice rocks, and the tunnels were the inspiration, you went through a long dark tunnel into the light ?
There is a better way to ensure survival than keeping to the right? SLOW DOWN!! You said it was your first time on that road, so why not take it easy and enjoy the view? All you would see was road and traffic at that stupid speed. It will no doubt catch up to you one day and it will be your family that will suffer. I have seen it to many times before.
Schaaf Could you explain why you called this video 'quick ride'? Anyway, the road is not there for people like you to play around on it, so wake up and slow down :*
Calum Riach because "quick" is much shorter than "slightly above average speed". I wasn't playing on this road, I simply rode up the whole thing. You must be one of these keyboard warriors trying to spread bullshit all over the place. Leave your house one time, come to Austria, Slovenija, or Italy and you'll change your opinion about what's actually quick riding rather soon. Just like I'm having no idea about real fast riding (due to lack of experience and power) you seem to have no idea about what's really going on on our roads.
Calum Riach I'm not making the road a more dangerous place. People like you crawling up the road with 2 kilometers per hour in their big cages are the actual danger. You probably like to park right behind blind corners as well.
Somehow I missed this, awesome as always :)
thanks a lot, RJ! :)
Amazing video. Great quality and no music which is the best thing in a riding video. Respect for you Schaaf, please keep your videos coming as much as possible :) Cheers from the Nederlands
thank you very much! Cheers from Vienna!
Awesome road, love the tunnels how they where carved out in the mountains.. beautiful scenes! Thanks for sharing

Sieht aber nur abenteuerlich aus ;)
Holy sh!t @ 11:04: all those stones on the road, and you just race through! O_O

Watching your videos is a thrill ! Be safe and keep going mate ! :-)

So cool to see you riding a road that i rode last summer :D stunning view at the top he!
indeed! Epic views!

looks like a difficult road to ride! but you nailed it.. again! keep the videos comming!
thanks a lot!
You are awesome. When I come to Vienna next I want to go riding with you.
ooooh yes we definitely should do that! :)) Thanks a lot!
Pugzilla69 depends on how much snow we get here in Vienna. But since road maintenance is using a lot of salt on our roads in the wintertime I wouldn't recommend it.
Another great video! Some areas look a bit like Canada but our roads are way more forgiving your nuts and I love it hahahah cheers.
thanks a lot ;))
incredible scenery and ride. Pretty sure you see everything in bullet time.
hahaha oh boy I wish I could :)))
Gotta go to Slovenia, what a road, great camera position too.
thanks! :)
feels like riding a dream! awsome video!
thanks a lot Vadim!

hahaha I think you have to be a real superstar first before that can happen ;) Thanks a lot!

indeed! Although I also have to travel quite a bit to get to such a biker's paradise. ;)

Came back from Asia?
Nice vid.
Good rides.
Big V Schaaf.
Only been there for 3 and a half weeks ;)
What a video !!! Amazing ride !!!
Glad you liked it!
@@Schaaf how many times have you been there before the video ? Because your ride is so dynamic...
Hello. How much did you pay for the entrance if you can remeber? Im going to visit it on 19.08
5€
Awesome views! Amazing vid!
thank you!
Great Schaaf, and amazing Slovenija :)
indeed! Thanks!
Vielen dank!
freut mich! Danke!! :)
Damn good riding. Can't believe it's your first time there :) What's written on that sheet of paper sticked on the tank?
thanks a lot! That's my road map for the day :)

13:25 .. that view...
bikes are exempt from tolls here
5 euros is worth it though
absolutely! Austrian toll roads can cost a lot more. Even if their views & road conditions suck compared to this one here...
Schaaf are you austrian , or german? if austrian then i have traveld a lot of your roads and citys!! VERY nice...
transdetendal Austrian!
wuuuuiiih!! lovely..
you are quite brave to ride this fast on our messed up slovenian roads :) glad you enjoyed it anyway :))

thanks! Yea, I hope I can come again next year :)
Good video, good drive and good road
thank you :)
You have some sticky tyres! if i tried that on my bike i would be away on my arse.
indeed, Bridgestone BT45 are amazing tires :) Although I'm sure that you cang et excellent tires for your bike as well :)
Have you seen my bike? lol
I'v got battleaxes on my fj1200 wheels although they are not attached to a bike :)
Very beautifull, and nice riding :)
thanks, Igor!
Nice driving! What tires?
thanks! Bridgestone BT45
Goats everywhere :)

It just will take me a couple of days because I'm rather busy at the moment!
as rj says it : awsome ride!!
thanks!
what editing software do you use schaaf? loving the video and the bike.

Hahahahaha..
Schaaf Na eh ok :) War lieb anzusehen.. "mei, is des herzig" :)
When you were paying, they had the look on their faces, like this is going to be his last ride, just don't tell him, or he will not pay ?
bah she even gave me a cute wave when I returned down the road ;)
They was glad to see you alive again, at least one of them...lol
She was the one who bet on you, and she won the pot, that is why she waved, you brought her a weeks pay, maybe even more......?@"@?
Interesting area, so many nice rocks, and the tunnels were the inspiration, you went through a long dark tunnel into the light ?
***** as long as she was the one who did bet on me surviving I'm okay with it
Thats cool, and a little funny too. She must have made your day. lol
***** the whole day made my day actually ;)
There is a better way to ensure survival than keeping to the right? SLOW DOWN!! You said it was your first time on that road, so why not take it easy and enjoy the view? All you would see was road and traffic at that stupid speed. It will no doubt catch up to you one day and it will be your family that will suffer. I have seen it to many times before.
I did enjoy the scenery a lot
A god rides his mountain...
Hahaha
We will prohibit that stupidity!
cool
Please stop riding so fast on roads that other people use.
have you ever seen an actual fast ride? Wake up, my speed's just a tiny bit above average.
Schaaf Could you explain why you called this video 'quick ride'? Anyway, the road is not there for people like you to play around on it, so wake up and slow down :*
Calum Riach
because "quick" is much shorter than "slightly above average speed".
Schaaf 'quick' is quick, in other words :) Why don't you just slow down and stop making roads more dangerous for other people?
Calum Riach I'm not making the road a more dangerous place. People like you crawling up the road with 2 kilometers per hour in their big cages are the actual danger. You probably like to park right behind blind corners as well.
