    One thing I forgot to mention is that the auto framing feature ACTUALLY DOES work with this tablet! I made an assumption that the notch on the Ultra was the only reason why auto framing worked, and I missed this feature works on the S8 and S8 Plus.
    This tablet also has 4 years of software updates! I covered that on my first impressions video, but I was trying not to make this video the same! Battery life is also great on this tablet! Over 10,000 mAh is very good!
    Also, please check the links in the description, there are good promos still on this tablet!

    I always had an ipad. Always. Then my last ipad pro 10.5 inch was broken and the pencil stopped charging. Not to mention I hated how you had to charge it via the lighting port, looked ridiculous. So I tossed and turned for a while, and got the tab s7 to complement my s21+. From the second I turned it on, I knew I'd never use another ipad. The screen is amazing, the s pen was included, not an optional $150 extra, thanks apple, and what sold me the most, the s pen works, even if it's not charged, you just lose Bluetooth functionality. To still be able to take notes, or annotate PDFs, draw, with a flat s pen is incredible. Let's be honest, the apple pencil can't do anything extraordinary, so why does it have to always be charged to use it? For those reading this, on the fence about Android tablets, do it. They are the best value for money ever. Sure, if you are a hard core video editor and need some apps not available on Android, you're out of luck, but for most people, this thing is the best money I've ever spent.

      I would’ve never given IPad up even tho I hate iPhone and always had android phone, if not for apple killing the iPad in purpose to force you to buy a new one. I literally can barely nurse now. I can’t do even simple things like typing. Guess what? I’m doing but an Android tab.

    I am the one who ordered tab S8+ and I am so happy with it. I already have iPad Mini 5 which is good for general reading but still too small for proper note taking however the S8 Ultra is way too big. To me, the size of S8+ is just perfect for my general use. With the pre-order, it came with the keyboard case which is awesome that I don't have to pay extra money for keyboard and of course, s-pen.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you're dead on the money here. When your average person compares this and the Tab S8 Ultra, I think in the long run they will find the Ultra to be a little too big. It's difficult to even fit on your lap if you're sitting in certain positions. The Plus is portable but also big enough to do productivity work.

    Is 128gb enough for the tab s8+ or should we go for the 256gb version instead? Does heavy apps such as games for example, can be stored on the sd card?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I don't have an SD card in to test this. But you could put apps on the SD card in the tab A7. And the Tab S7 FE. So I see no reason why you couldn't put apps on the SD card with this tablet. But if I'm honest I've never seen anyone have that many apps. If I put every single banking app and every single fast food app and every app I need I still only have about 40GB of apps. Add some big games and I would only be at 60GB or so. It would be insane to fill up the full amount with apps. And honestly I recommend putting apps on the device to speed them up, and then I would put all of your media and videos on your SD card.
      But either way you should have an option to do both.

      I am strongly planning on buying the tab s8+ (the other option would be M1 ipad pro 11 inch). Main reason on buying a tab is to take notes on my lectures since Im starting medt school on august and on my free time play a couple of games in it. I early asked about the gb thing since now days apps are getting huge updates and the system himself takes a couple of memory also. Im trying to make the best decision on which one to buy since Im planning to be loyal to the tab I choose for the next 6 years.. lol

    • @alexandrucapatina8688
      @alexandrucapatina8688 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@prreyes5868 If you don't plan on using the tablet mainly for media consumption (netflix, youtube etc), you have money for the additional pen+keyboard and you don't mind iPad OS, then go for the M1 iPad Pro. That SoC and Apple's track record of SW updates will last you at least 6 years. However, if you want an all-rounder, get the Tab S8+. It comes with everything you need if you order now from Samsung website, you have an SD card slot for extra storage and big game files, the SD 8 Gen1 should be good for at least 3-4 years, OLED panel with 120Hz refresh and you have 16:10 aspect ratio which is hugely better than the iPad's 4:3 for media consumption. I was also in the looks for a tablet since I've never owned one and pre-ordered the S8+. It's the best for my needs

    Hey, thanks for the video, I'm really torn about whether I should buy this tablet or not. Having seen loads of review videos, from what I can see the screen glare/reflectiveness is bad, can you comment on this? Can I also share some examples of how you have (or how this tablet could be used) as a replacement laptop? Do I need a bluetooth mouse? Or will the S Pen do? Can you use it for document creation (word, excel, powerpoint) without a keyboard? Or is the screen limited too much by the keyboard? For context, my current tablet is the Huawei MediaPad M5 10. Is the upgrade worth it? Thank you for your time & any assistance you give.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well I'll try the best I can to respond, but it is a little complex what you are asking and honestly it's pretty subjective depending on the person. There is definitely some noticeable screen glare. But it does depend on the angle your tablet is at. For me it's a non issue, I have a kickstand that I can just move into a slightly different position and avoid the glare. But how noticeable it is depends on your lighting, but to me a lot of good laptops have screen glare, we don't often talk about it. But this laptop is no different, but reflective screens (glossy) normally have better color accuracy so there are some benefits to it.
      As far as this replacing a laptop. You have to keep in mind that Android tablets can't use Microsoft word without paying for the Microsoft office 365 subscription. If you download the Android apps for Microsoft word or Microsoft Excel for example, you will be required to pay for that subscription. You can go to the Microsoft website, where they have what's called Microsoft office online, and it's a free service, similar to Google docs. So you can technically do word documents, you could always create a web shortcut and it it on your home screen for easy access, but it's not in a nice app or anything.
      Honestly if you plan to use this for productivity work I would definitely get at least a Bluetooth mouse and a Bluetooth keyboard, or just buy the keyboard case. You can get the keyboard case with a trackpad and keyboard, and it has an awesome kickstand so you can detach the keyboard whenever you want, and keep a cool kickstand on the device. But you can buy that for $150 or less. I got mine for $115 with a student discount from Samsung. Otherwise Amazon has mint condition from Amazon warehouse for about $150 used. And ebay will have them for possibly even cheaper.
      But if you are wondering about this being a laptop replacement, I don't necessarily think it's a great laptop replacement for most people. But it can still do a ton of stuff. There are apps like kinemaster and power director for video editing. Google docs and drive are free so you can create and edit documents easily without needing Microsoft office. If you are someone who does a lot of work on the web you could still use Samsung DeX, you could have the Gmail app open in a small window, and have the web browser open at the same time, all those small windows can help you be productive. A lot of people don't need windows programs to be productive and they just need a web browser, some good Android apps and a good interface.
      The s pen is a great thing, it's a great tool, but if you were riding a long document I wouldn't want to write out every single letter by hand, most people type much quicker than they write. But some people love hand written notes so this would be great for that.
      The screen is also better than most laptops, it's also more portable than most laptops, and the webcam along with the speakers, they are better than most laptop webcams or speakers. So there are a lot of benefits. But I would recommend a Bluetooth mouse and a keyboard, or the Samsung one if you find a good deal. The Logitech K380 is $30 for a good Bluetooth keyboard, you can find a good Bluetooth mouse for even $30 and a good case for $20.. that's $80. Pretty close to the Samsung version but you may save an extra $50 or $100 doing it this way.
      Hopefully these thoughts help a little. I'm happy to answer any clarifying questions. But yes, I do think it's a nice upgrade from your tab, I think the screen is gorgeous, sure the glare can be a flaw but there are ways to avoid it, and overall this has a great screen and it's a great tablet!

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Finally if you can swing it you could always try it out. Samsung has a return policy. You have 14 days to request to return and another 14 days to return it after you request it. So you could always see if you like it for the first two weeks, they don't charge a restock fee. Just a suggestion. There are pros and cons though. Links are in the description which help to support me, but if you have any follow up questions let me know, my main goal is to help you

    If I didn't already have a Tab S7 Plus, I would be taking a serious look at the Tab S8 Plus.
    This is at the limit of what I can hold in one hand for long sessions on the couch. The Ultra would be too heavy for that.
    The best thing about the Tab S7 Plus (and thus the Tan S8 Plus) is small text legibility. E-textbooks, PDFs, and digital comics are all amazingly legible without pinching and zooming. It's the whole reason I splurged on the Tab S7 Plus.
    That it also happens to be great for TH-cam, Netflix, social media, etc, is a very nice bonus.

    I ordered the Ultra as I do alot of photo editing. However, I also like to handwrite my notes in meetings. Then remembered I'd have to actually be able to bring it with me without hassle. so l ordered the hus as well. Got them both, thed them both. The Ultra in amazing! But honestly, the plus is no downgrade, AND more portable. I returned the Ultra, and I am so happy with my choice.
    Our household also has two ipads, The apple pen is a dealbreaker. The bad multitasking issue is also a dealbreaker.
    I also have the S 22 Ultra and they are liberally made for each other😅

      It's funny because I just bought another S8 Ultra like 3 weeks ago, and 2 weeks ago I just bought another Tab S8 Plus. I was going to give some updated thoughts on my channel. I agree with you that both tablets are great! The Plus isn't really much of a downgrade, it gives almost all the same benefits with more portability. The S8 Ultra gives more screen real estate, and it has higher RAM options, and one extra camera, honestly it's not a big differece either way, it just depends on what you prefer

    • @ninas9483
      @ninas9483 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Android Digest Absolutely. I wish the higher RAM was an option for the Plus. I would definitely pay for that. The only caveat when choosing the plus over the Ultra in my opinion, as the slightly smaller screen is an advantage for my use. I would Love to be able to keep them both tbh😅❤ The camera is something I could do without on my tablet as I never use it.

    I've been looking everywhere to find out if the pen on the s8 plus attaches to the side like it does on the ultra, and you're the first review I've found that showed it! Thanks so much!
    I know it might not sound like a big deal, but the tablet I currently use doesn't have that functionality, and I often use it lying flat on a desk where the back is inaccessible, so it was definitely a small feature I wanted to know before I bought one

    The ultra is ridiculously too big to be a tablet, and too underpowered to truly replace a laptop. It doesn't know what it wants to be. The s8+ is the perfect device for both a tablet and laptop supplement

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I do agree with you for the most part. I put the S8 Plus on my lap, and when I crossed my legs the S8 plus barely fit on my lap. The S8 Ultra wouldn't even fit in my lap when sitting in certain positions.
      I do think there is a great market for it though. I was talking with my wife and she does a lot of art and she said she would love the S8 Ultra. A lot of artists really want a bigger canvas. If you leave your tablet more stationary, and you primarily want it for entertainment, and art, I think it has benefits over a laptop. But for the most part I agree. When if becomes so big that it's not really a tablet. So it's not for everyone, especially those who want a tablet AND a laptop. The Ultra is just suuper big. I'll see though, my keyboard comes in tomorrow so I plan to use it next

    I bought the S8+ for its touted ability to work as a laptop. But I am unable to install the full version of Excel which I need for statistics. Any advice about that?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no way to install the FULL VERSION of Excel. That is limited to Windows laptops and Chromebooks and Android tablets aren't really made for that. However there are two options:
      1: I'm sure you are alluding to this, but if you do have that Microsoft 365 subscription, you can download the Android apps, no it isn't the "full version" but it does have most of the features that most people need.
      2: If you don't want to pay money, you can google "microsoft office free online" and find the website for Microsoft Office online, which is essentially like google docs, as long as you are accessing it from the web it is free. You can click the top 3 dots on chrome in the top right corner of Google Chrome and add a shortcut to your home screen, which will allow you to use office for free. Again, it's a limited version, but that's an option. I'm pretty sure if you actually install a "web app" it essentially works like the android app and requires a subscription.
      Hopefully this helps. It sounds like you are wanting more features than the web has to offer, or the Android app, and in that case, there's not much you can do. That's why I love google drive and google docs. I can organize my documents in drive, I can access them from anywhere, I can save them offline, and it's all free no matter what. As long as I have enough storage! But I do understand some people need the full version of office, and in that case, not much else I can add!

      @@alvaradorea5461 its a personal choice. i have become accustomed to Android over the years. and Samsung delivers the best Android experience. of all the numerous reasons i went with a Galaxy tab, a huge reason is that Samsung has Qled TVs as part of their ecosystem. the Tab S8 is powerful enough for me to be both a workstation and a media consumption device, without the need of a desktop. also, using Smart Veiw on my Qled TV is pretty awesome. the Tab S8 serves as both a movie player and a gaming console for my TV.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The iPad is more powerful, there is no doubt about it. And there are a few more apps that are optimized a little better for iPads, but it's pretty close nowadays. But a lot of people prefer the Android ecosystem which is a REALLY big deal to some people, like for me, I would never choose an iPad, but that's preference. Android is more customizable, and I like the freedom that Android provides, I like the ability to sideload apps if I need to, I like having an android phone and android tablets work well within the ecosystem. Samsung tablets also come with a stylus which is a huge deal, it's not a ton of extra money. Also the Samsung has the better screen (it's OLED). Yes the iPad can be more powerful, and it may have a few extra apps for things like video editing, and it works better for iMessage and people who have iPhones, so it depends on who you are, both are great. iPads are top of the line, but I just prefer Android, but that's my preference, and it's OKAY if you prefer something different. I need your advice. I bought the s7fe 4/64 for 265.00 (no trade in). I can trade it in and pay 229 more for the tab s8 and 329 for the tab s8+. I mostly watch movies and videos on it..should I upgrade or keep the tab s7fe for the 265.00? I trust your advice

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Lena for missing this. If you ever tweet me (@digestandroid) I may catch it a little quicker).
      Honestly you deciding to upgrade is a tough call, and it's really up to you. There's so many factors and it's so hard for me to determine what is valuable to you. How valuable is OLED vs non-OLED in a screen? I don't think your average person would notice a HUGE difference, but OLED screens are better for watching content, but everyone has different factors. Some people hate smaller tablets, some love them, some people can't notice a big speed difference and some people notice everything. My main point is, it's really hard for me to give exact advice, without getting significant details on every part of a tablet!
      Regardless, I'll try to give info to help!
      I think the first thing to decide is what screen size you want. The Tab S7 FE and the S8+ are the same size. The Tab S8 is nearly 2 inches smaller, which makes it very portable, but normally worse for watching movies, normally people like a bigger screen for that.
      In my opinion, if you decide to keep the same screen size, I would just look between the Tab S7 FE and the S8 Plus. It looks like you have a $329 difference.
      What would you get for that? An OLED screen, so a slightly better screen. It would be slightly noticeable. Then you have a fingerprint sensor, a faster tablet with more RAM and a better processor. And a 120hz screen.
      Will you be getting your moneys worth if you upgrade? Absoutely. But it depends on what you want to be. If you want to look for a value, and get 75% of what the S8+ is, you should just stick with the S7 FE. You will get about 75% of the experience and save some money,
      But if you really like the S7 FE but you want something even better, the S8 + is a great tablet, they are giving a good trade-in so it isn't a bad thing to do at all. If you have the money, and you are interested in it, it's probably worth doing. It just depends on who you are.
      People often want better and better, people often struggle to be content, and sometimes we spend money we don't have. I wouldn't recommend doing that, I would always recommend being wise, but if you have the finances, you will enjoy the smoother screen, the better quality screen for videos, and you will enjoy the fingerprint sensor, and it will even be a little faster too. Hopefully this helps!

      It will still run after that year but it won't get any big software updates. So if Samsung decides to add some really big features to their next tablets you won't get those updates on the S7+. It's also important because of security updates. When you stop receiving security updates, there could sometimes be really big security flaws that hackers can exploit. So your tablet would essentially be more likely to get viruses. That's a simplified explanation. The tablet will work. Most of your apps will work for years even after you stop getting updates. But your tablet will be a little more of a security risk and you won't get any new features added to the tablet

      You can put an SD card in it, so honestly I'd say to get the cheapest model. The Tab S8 Plus has the same ram in all their models so it doesn't really matter which one you get. To be honest that's pretty much how every tablet works. Most tablets, even iPad Pros, they have WiFi only models. Sometimes they release models that work with 5G through carriers or through their websites. but if it doesn't specify when buying it to say "5g" or "lte" it's probably wifi only.

    Android tablets are only amazing if you're buying mid to high-end Samsung tablets. Everyone else sucks.

      I'm with you, the S7 Plus is great, but it's only getting 1 more OS update. You get 4 OS updates from the S8 Plus. So there are some benefits to upgrading, but yes, it's practically the same device other then that
