Blueshape is terrible - it wiggles in the slot as much as 1/8" up and down; 4 out of 4 DOA - sent them back. I read Jupio can act up in clod weather - others swear by it. Wasabi is just as inconsistent. So Jupui and Wasabi don't instill confidence. I tried Shape - they've got amazing build - but no communication and I corrupted a file(EDIT: see the update bellow, it was the komodo not the shape BP) (BUT it still played in Premiere timeline once dropped, I have to see if it will work to grade and cut it). So it seems like Canon BP is my only option.
One thing you could look for is the voltage the camera is showing. When they’re at 6.0v you should change the battery. I mainly use the canon one but also have some cheap ones. As long as I Look at the voltage everything is fine :) what I noticed with the beta firmware when using cheap batteries the camera will just turn off when you hit record and will boot up automatically that was never the case with a official firmware
Thanks that’s some super helpful information!!! I will keep that in mind. This will help me big time when I’m using the cheaper ones. I have been using the canons and my gold mount lately.
Dope video.. definitely a lesson learned, sometimes you have to spend a but extra.. it sucks if you don't have the funds available but better safe than sorry. You provided some valuable solutions to the problem 💪🏼 real world use and problem solving.
Thanks for your comment it means a lot. Yes spending the extra almost always helps you in the long run. I just want to make sure everyone knows this problem. My friend Brandon called me with the same problem a week or 2 before it happen to me.
Would you put cheap 87 octane fuel in a Ferrari ? Same thing with Komodo....buy the RED approved batteries. You've already spent 7K on the RED, whats an extra 100$ ? Thanks for the video ! :)
With the whole SDI situation......I was curious when this started happening to me....if the camera goes to shut down due to a unhappy battery situation.....am I putting my SDI port at risk....know what I mean.??
Yes, you would be but I have know ppl had there Komodo for years with no problem. Just dont buy cheap cables is the key. When you can follow the install steps
Don’t for get to leave a comment!!!!
Love the video my man, was wondering what mounting you're using in order to mount your monitor to the camera?
