Brown noise is a great alternative to ANC, it can drown out the signatures in external sounds that make them distracting. I actually play brown noise using an app on top of pod casts when at the gym or commuting to help fill in the empty space in the sound, that would usually be filled up by various instruments when listening to music for example.

This looks like quite a step up from the old bose sleep buds. Those could only work in standalone and not be used as regular Bluetooth buds.
I tried them back then but it didn't work that well for me, I would fall asleep more easily but then wake up because of the noise again later in the night. But that's not the device's fault, they're just not for everyone. And the addition of letting you listen to stuff on your phone instead of only the preprogrammed noise makes the value proposition a lot better (although they're still expensive).

There's no subscription for the features but you should've mentioned the subscription they do offer, which actually seems like a good deal for testing. It's $20 to essentially rent a pair of the earbuds ($22 for a "guaranteed new" pair) so you can see if it's worth it for you without paying the $300.
If I had the money to buy them then I'd definitely start with the subscription first, if they're actually worth it then that extra $20 doesn't really matter that much.

I had loud neighbours, so I tried a lot of earbuds to help me sleep. I tried the Bose Earbuds (very similar to these), but could only play preloaded noises and never really could fall asleep with those. Tried others as well, but was always lacking the function to connect to my phone and just fall asleep to what I want to listen to or hold the entire night... so I never really used them- The ONLY buds I found so far are really my cup of tea are the Soundcore Space A40... you can still kinda feel them in your ears, but I could finally sleep with them (can sleep on the side without them triggering some buttons, have active noise cancelling, can play ALL night long podcast if I want to or whatever I want to play over my phone, are flat enough to fall asleep with)

Another option that I use: Acoustic Sheep SleepPhones. The Bluetooth ones last 24 hours, they are in a headband so they're flat and on top of everything you don't have to shove anything in your ear! And there are no touch controls, they have actual physical buttons. They come in wired and wireless and some come with a mic for answering calls and one version can be wirelesly charged.
Sorry, not sponsored or anything, I just really love them and I thought I'd share because these buds have a lot of no goes for me and I thought that other people might have the same issues.
    Happy sleeping!

Linus, insomnia is a medical condition which affects your whole body, both mentally and physically. I've been on sleeping medications since I was 15 (I'm 34 now), tried multiple types of drugs until my shrink and neurologist found the right combination. It takes about 30 to 40 minutes for the medication to kick in, I feel rested, good quality sleep and, most important, I'm not groggy in the morning unlike other combinations tried before.

I'm very aware that for some people, background noise helps them fall asleep, I was just pointing out that if you have insomnia, you should seek medical advice. If your product also helps them, alongside medical treatment, amazing, maybe less drugs needed. Just clarifying, I wasn't attacking your product :)

I use a bluetooth speaker with a bit of bass beside my bed,
which plays a TH-cam video called
“ 🎧 Star Trek TNG Bridge Background Ambience 8 HOURS (for sleep, study, work, relaxation, asmr) ”
It works so well I haven't tried any other sound since,
even though I kind of want to, out of curiosity only.
I also put in a pair of 3M earplugs in my ears, which blocks out most sounds but not the bassy sound of the video so much.
And I use a sleep mask too, which is far more important that you'd think if your room isn't completely dark.
Oh, and a weighted blanket. Mine is 8kg. Not light. Not too heavy.
Sleep is not something I have to worry about any more. I definitely seem to have cracked it.

I was looking into these when they were announced 4 years ago. I am a pretty light sleeper and need some white noise for most nights.
The price was a big drawback for me, but I would have gone for it had I not found Anker's soundcore A20 sleep buds. They do all the important things, cost 120 gbp, super comfy when side sleeping, and I wake up with 60% charge left every day. Anyone who wants to buy something that works and doesn't drain your pockets too much, I can really recommend this!

4:36 actually that is correct. Contradictively to what you'd think, your brain doesn't entirely shut down in sleep. As I recall the region that governs self preservation remains active and heavily listens into the sounds of danger. Consequently, as silence generally means a predator has scared of everything else, you'll fibd yourself woken or disturbed by perfect noise cancellation. Exceptions do apply, as some are very heavy sleepers

Our house is awfully quiet at night, which is great for my girlfriend, but makes me go nuts from the orchestra in my head.
So I sleep on the couch half of the time, where I put up something on the TV as background noise. I've tried other earbuds, but they all fail in being comfortable enough to sleep with.

That's what I use sleepbuds for. Or rather I use the Anker Soundcore A20 Sleepbuds, they're way cheaper and basically do everything these do. No idea how they compare, but I can say that for the use of masking tinnitus (I suffer from this too, real bad), sleepbuds in general absolutely helps. If nothing else it gives your brain something else to focus on instead of the noise in your head, which is a godsend when trying to fall asleep.
