Bought this Asus G20AJ back in 2016 and it's still working fine in 2022 ! the 980 GTX GPU is getting kinda old but i'm really happy with this PC, it's fast and hasn't broken in years
That edit near 14:42 where the DVD/SSD cage suddenly appears in -- yeah for anyone watching you want to install that first and then install the heat sink. Theres a bit of the DVD cage that grips the edge of the case and if the heat sink is in front of it it interferes with a clean installation of the cage
you have broken the cpu heat pipes by bending them like a caveman the 2 squares in the heatsink fins to unscrew the cpu screws . i have a G20cb gtx 1660super 6gb 24gb of ram i7 6700 it boots in 9seconds from my m.2 nvme ssd .ive striped my rig many times without any problems.if it posts it's gonna overheat
Thank you for checking out my video and sharing your perspective! When this unit came to my warehouse, the original CPU was replaced with a pentium. As such, when it was dropped off at my warehouse, it was done so in pieces after the original owner harvested all of the valuable components. The reality is that the heatsink was dropped off in a wide open 90 degree angle and I had attempted to bend it back into shape so that it would not look ugly in the video. nonetheless, you are correct! I had not thought much of the two openings in the heatsink cause they did not match up with the screws below, but i'm sure that if I had bent it back into the original shape, it would have made sense. I appreciate you giving your perspective because now I learned something new to lookout for in the future!
Hope this saves someone’s pc out there, DO NOT bend the heat sink like he did in this video to get the heat sink out, the heat sink has 2 hole under the black take that you can put a screw driver in and take it out, I’ve had this rig for years, serves me well to this day, but I just completely fucked the heat sink up on this, do not do it
From the original build, can you replace/ upgrade to latest/higher versions? This is exactly my pc. Still working and I can't afford to let go of my pc. I still love it til now but it needs upgrading.
Hey Aram where you able to diagnose it? I have a similar situation where the fans spin and it’s a blank screen and the tv/monitor shows no signal. I ordered a new bios chip since it’s socketed I though maybe it’s that and it’s on its way. I don’t know the history much of the system I got. It was sold as is. The gpu and Ram I tested externally and they work. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks
Hello, so as you stated, the video ended on a cliff hanger because all the upgrades resulted in a blank screen. I am posting the second video very soon but just to give you a tip ahead of time, my problem sprouted from the CPU. In the second video, I show how I tested each component and when coming to the CPU, I had found that the pins underneath were bent. I luckily only had 2 pins that needed to be bent back into shape. Once I properly did so, I booted up the machine and found everything to be running normally (including the CPU temperature). Hope that helps!
@@AramJoseph thanks for the reply. In my case it turned out to be the bios chip. I guess whoever flashed it bricked the chip. The replacement brought it back to life. Thank God it was socketed so just a quick replacement and it started working again.
I definitly think it could fit. The bracket I show in the video when the graphics card sites is big enough for a dual fan size card! Let me know how it goes!
i just received this pc for free from a guest that stayed at my hotel i work for as compensation for helping her build her son a new pc. the one i have is needing both of the power supplies replaced from what i can tell right off. could you point me in the direction of the ones you used in this video if you don't mind? i would like to make sure i get the proper ones
Hi Jonathan, Thank you for watching my video and subscribing to my channel, it is very much appreciated! As to your question, I am a little confused as to what you mean by "both" power supplies. For the specific gaming tower I work on in this video, it only takes a single power supply which is external. To that effect, here is a link to a power supply I would recommend for this computer; www.ebay.com/itm/180W-AC-Adapter-Charger-For-ASUS-ROG-G20AJ-G20AJ-B07-Gaming-Computer-N180W-02/232009357126?hash=item3604d5d746:g:nSYAAOSwjWRe2JJu This charger is the 180W version, but from what I understand, this machine originally took a 230W version. Here is a link to an original charger; www.ebay.com/itm/230W-OEM-ASUS-ROG-G20AJ-G20CB-20CI-G20BM-Series-Gaming-Desktop-PC-Charger-Cord/230864121933?hash=item35c092f04d:g:UXkAAOSwWBNegmFu Let me know if there is anything else I can help with!
I am not at the warehouse now to tell you specifically the type of ram as far as sodimm but i know for sure it takes laptop size DDR3 RAM. For this system specifically, I added 16GB of RAM and got it to turn on without giving a RAM issue so as far as I know 16GB upgrade would work for you!
In this specific instance, I had edited the video so much that it does not show how I went about testing the motherboard as well as the back and forth I went through trying to diagnose it. I found out at the end that it did not boot because the customer who dropped off the desktop bent the pins in the cpu socket. In part 2 of this desktop computer, I will go ahead and show my attempt and trying to fix the pins and ultimately putting thermal paste if in fact it does function! Thank you for the input!

Back in the day I wanted that "portable pc" asus rog lol 😆 it'll be cool to see a modded one to fit newer parts
I am quite happy with my ASUS ROGG20. It does everything I need it to do.
I just upgraded the graphics card and added an ssd on mine. Also applied new thermal paste as well.
@@SenorBootcamp what gpu did you upgrade to??
@@GemKun-w2y Right now it has a gtx 970 in there. My daughter uses it to play Fortnite and Splitgate at 4K 60fps.
@@SenorBootcamp those are both esports games so a 970 will be just fine
@@GemKun-w2y yeah, I do have a 1660 ti, which I dont know if it will fit in there but I also have a 1650 that will fit just fine.

Hello Aram, will this pc be able to handle a 3060 Ti? Upgraded all my other parts and bringing this thing to life in 2022!
Sorry it took me so long to view this...it's been a crazy busy couple weeks here. Thanks for sharing.
No worries my friend, I know that your a busy guy! Thank you for the support!
What thermal paste did you use?

Does this have the hidden m.2 slot the cb has?
This is awesome thx.... Do you think it's possible if I could fit xfx rx xxx 580 8gb graphic card in the slot?

I know this is pretty random but did it fit?
Is an ASUS 2070 graphics card going to fit in here
DDR PC3 or PC3L
