Glad to see you back!! Your 3050 Optiplex Modding video really got me into these older workstation mods. My 3050 cost a lot more than yours but everything was new from Amazon. I have found a way to add NVME support to older Optiplex 2nd,3rd,4th gen models like the 790/990, the 3010, 9010 and 7010 and 3020/9020 and 7020 machines. My 3020 boots from off to desktop login in less than 7 seconds. Loving the 1600MB/s transfer speeds on the old i7 systems.
I'm so glad you're back. I really enjoy your content and i can say my youtube experience has not been the same without you. Glad to see you are feeling better.
Welcome back, I really enjoyed the video. I was relating too much with this video, I got the same 1660 in the mail today and I need to hunt down some stuff too. / Thank you for all the information, the W4100 put in a lot of work; thank you again. Cheers! :))
At this point i would just take the processor, ram and ssd out and just throw the rest of it in the trash and use those components for another computer, You already spent a total of ~40$ just for the cables and adapters and it still needs you to pour more money into it
Hey great to see you up and running...Regarding the PC, I had one come in for repair (it wouldn't even power on) and we ended up almost building a new pc for the guy. Power delivery was completly fried due to excessive heat. It had a 7700k and a gtx1070. Those pcs are stupid
Sorry I missed you live, but It is great to see you putting out a new video, which means you must be doing well. I always enjoy seeing old systems, esp sff ones.I'll be looking for your follow up, as well as anything else that shows up on this channel.
Not only do they take the drive tray when they take the drive, most of the time they then toss the drive cage because it never fits anything else and they never wanted it in the first place. Laziness pure and simple. So frustrsting!
Nice to see you working on PC's. For the crap @ 17:20. Try to fit a ID cooling IS50X or an AIO cooler with some brackets. Modding into the DVD bay should,'t be too difficult.
I've built a lot of machines and that has got to be the wackiest looking contraption that I have ever seen. Nonetheless,, I've got to commend you for broadcasting a great PC history channel!
I feel your pain. I got a MSI Trident 3 with 12th gen i5, 32gb ram, and RTX 3060 for $200. Temps are ok but I dont like how loud the fan is soon as it hits 70c they go to 100%. Bios is locked down also. I been searching for ways to mod it with no luck. Even taking the cover off only helps slightly.
Not for the faint hearted: use turpentine to revitalize thermal paste. One or two drops of turpentine, smoosh it through the paste with a glove, and voila, good as new! Be careful because it can get runny and spoil all over your pins and contact points! But if you are careful, turpentine is your thermal paste revitalizing friend!
Hey, thx for your video, this pc could be a headache sometime i have a question Can i use dvd sata cable from inside to install an ssd instead are they the same ?
This is the number one problem with this sort of machine. Like servers, everything is proprietary or none standard. Dont touch them with a barge pole. Unless you are harvesting for parts.
you said on this video that you would link to the video of why it is not a good idea to connect to the internet if there is a drive and os on a pc. you never put the link.. i am assuming you mean the video "This computer could of gotten me in trouble!! HP Z2 Mini G3!!" this video is over 2 weeks old meaning you probably posted it near the beginning of november 2023. the video "This computer could of gotten me in trouble!! HP Z2 Mini G3!!" was posted 2 weeks later on november 18 2023. and i did see that video but i am not sure you are referring to another video or if seeing that you have a patreon page maybe patreon messes up the posting dates because you could not have any knowledge of "This computer could of gotten me in trouble!! HP Z2 Mini G3!!" because it came after. it is possible that you had to reupload this video due to some violation or to make a correction (usually corrections the voice would change as it is recorded and added separately) and by re uploading the dates get updated or maybe not updated.

Since a lot are doing upgrades on the 3050 I see the price has gone up on them, at lease here in the UK it has.
@@GTORazor the best budget build would be using the lga 2011 e5 1680 v4 that’s 8 core cpu that boost to 4ghz and it’s really cheap
I'm so glad you're back. I really enjoy your content and i can say my youtube experience has not been the same without you. Glad to see you are feeling better.

Good to see you back. I hope your health is better.
doing great!! Thanks!!
If you're cool with removing the optical drive bay, the ID Cooling IS-55 could be a good option if you can't find the OEM cooler.
welcome back good to see you and your content again wishing you the best of health and happiness !!!

I wonder if the motherboard could be swapped with an ITX or an ATX motherboard.
it would be hard, not alot of clearance
itx
Would you be willing to fix the leads with a soldering gun? Would that help?
I have limited skills lol..
Can't wait to watch

lol... def would not of paid for this, but i figured it be interesting to mess with.
If I had been the person buying from EBay I would have sent it back unless all those missing/broken parts were mentioned.
agreed, not sure if the original owner noticed that or note.
Take the cpu, ram and ssd. Keep those. Then take the rest and toss it. Not worth the trouble.
How Are You Felling Now?
