    I picked up a 30L back in March (10700F with 2070 Super) (drought in full swing so terrible time to buy but had to be done). It's been an alright system. Not in love with it but good stability/reliability, worked out of the box, and minimal sketchiness. Your review is pretty solid and tracks with my experience with it.
    The stock cooler on the CPU does get overwhelmed without too much effort. Anyone else buying an Omen highly recommend going for the liquid cooling option.

    My gf bought one of these about a year ago or so, right before all the gpu scalping. It has been a great pc so far with no issues at all (her cat actually managed to knock it over and the damn thing is still running very well - nothing broken or out of place). Hers is the 30L variant and came with a gtx 1660 and ryzen 5 3600. It also has wayyy better IO on the back along with better cooling up front. With these HP omens, I'm seeing that they're very hit or miss on some things, but considering how bad prebuilts usually are and how expensive building one is at the moment, I think these can be great PCs

    • @garycollumbell1396
      @garycollumbell1396 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find with the Omens is that the moment you start sticking beefier GPUs than a 2060( the 2060 super can get a bit toasty if it can't get good amounts of air people forget it's has the PCB and memory config of the ig 2070) in them those thermals become a issue same for the CPUs i5s and the 3600 from work just fine anything more than those parts hot and loud

    Great video Dawid! I bought one of these Omens last May of 2020 and uploaded a ton of videos on how to replace the cooler and other components. For me, replacing the cooler with a Noctua U9S was the best modification I did. Also using MSI Afterburner for an aggressive GPU fan curve worked really well.

    Let me quickly help you and everyone. So…the motherboard is upgradable but the bios is locked and there’s no xmp so expect all ram to run at worst speed possible. They use the worst cooler possible so expect high temps and to kill your cpu. Most of them come with single channel ram so he got extremely lucky here. The case cannot fit a normal atx board so forget upgrading that way. The power supply is non modular and only has one 4 pin cpu power connector so you can’t use it with new motherboards unless you are cool with low power to cpu or not working at all. One good thing about the suffocating case is low dust. You also have to buy ram directly from hp in order to not run at 2133mhz. Though you can void your warranty and use ryzen master. Everything is basically handicapped by hp’s proprietary motherboard here. The one huge glaring mistake they made. The graphics cards are also hampered by more hp locks to voltage and cheap dies. Thanks for this video bro!

      @Wigglythegreat2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@scooter73-i2 Yes DanKamYouKnow is great at showing you every part of the omen and what you can do to improve thermals in the Omen case. Still there is only so much that you can do with the Omen case. I finally upgraded my Omen case to a BeQuiet 802 which is night and day in terms of thermals and looks and it's built like a tank. It's a bit large and has 7x 140mm case fans, but I wanted room to expand for future upgrades so a larger case is what I wanted. DanKam I believe used a Meshify 2 compact for his case swap and that is a very nice case also and is a lot smaller than the BeQuiet 802.
      The only thing left from my original HP Omen is the CPU and motherboard. I upgraded the power supply to a Corsair 850 watt, put in a 3060 GPU, upgraded ram, replaced the NVME drive with a WD Black w/heatsink and added 2x Samsung SSDs, upgraded to a Noctua CPU cooler, and upgraded the wifi card to an intel wifi 6 card. My favorite upgrade was the case swap though. It's looks and performs so much better now than the stock Omen case. No more worries about thermal throttling and I can run my i7 CPU at max turbo boost speeds all day and all night now. Whereas the stock Omen case and stock Omen CPU cooler config leads to near instant thermal throttling and decreased performance.

      They can be borderline frustrating, BUT! It's absolutely doable. Just need to do some drilling, cutting, bending to get job done sometimes. It's kinda like a dark sould boss. Trial and error, trial and error, until you figure it out, and BEAT THAT FUCKIN BOSS! Or in this case it's obtaining consistent optimal temps.

    Also, who care about bloatware. If you can't take 5 minutes out of your busy day to just go to the (Add or remove programs) then you shouldn't really be using a PC in the first place. I have never fussed over it and I am sure many others don't really care. We want to see how the PC runs, if the parts match the price, that sort of stuff.

Shame about the lack of rear USB's on the OMEN, although a powered hub is an essential accessory with so many power hungry gadgets simultaneously attached nowadays. You can add a 120mm fan to the top mounting bracket as exhaust and you can also put a 120mm fan as intake at the bottom of the case. Make sure you have clearance under the case and it's not on carpet.

    I work at a Best Buy and we never sell Omen stuff. We're a shipping hub for the east coast and we don't even ship out what we have in stock.

    I hated my omen and it looks like they never improved terrible intakes.

    I got this 25L with an i5 10400f, 2060, and 16gb RAM.
    I immediately removed that metal plate on the underside and put another fan in.
    Then I used the space around the bottom near the front for another fan.
    It runs OK, and I've had no heating/cooling issues at all.
    Now, I will admit, had I known then what I know now about pc building and been more informed in general, I might have bought the parts and built one myself.
    That said, for the price (about 900 quid) and the simplicity of the "out of the box" nature, it is a good entry into pc gaming...in my opinion.

      Crypto just jumped again. Eventually crypto will come to be so that the mark can be implemented. No man can buy or sell save he that had the mark, the number of the beast, or his name.

    84 degrees Celsius seems reasonable. My 3080 runs in high 90s C while mining when I'm not playing games. Shows still in the green. Maybe other cards aren't meant for those temperatures, not sure.
