Excellent review of this ageless machine! It was everyone's dream when I was a little boy; I remember those days with nostalgia and plan to get one someday.
The way a 504 sits up on the road and handles is phenomenal. I had one in the 1990s, and I just bought another one! Can't wait to get behind the wheel ; )
Petrol 504s sold in Australia had 4 wheel disc brakes; properly maintained, you don't need to floor the pedal to stop quickly; I still drive our 1981 model in traffic … and the clutch and gearbox are still a delight ….
Yep - I owned four 504''s from 1976 to the late 1980's. That included an eight seater Familie (Sp?). The disc brakes were excellent. I didn't know they made them with drum brakes.
My Friend Told me he bought one and I had to come here and look at the review Must say am mind blown by how classic it is I can't wait to get a ride from this beautiful old-school I know am going to enjoy it since I already did in this video 😊
Excellent engineering. Very much disagree about the 504 braking system. The Peugeot 504 had very good four wheel disc brakes. There must be something wrong with that particular vehicle .
The only car to ever get two indegenous names, it was known as "muruthi" or "ngatia" in Kikuyu, "Simba" in Kiswahili, all of which translate to "Lion". All hail the African Lion (and yes I know it was a French car, but it was an African legend)
long ago before the introduction of shuttles, there were only Peugeots and Buses, they would cover long distance journeys with avg speeds of 100-120kph, with peaks going upto an effortless 160kph or 180kph, the vip seat was next to the driver, they would go from Nairobi to Nyeri, Nairobi to Western, Nairobi to Meru etc, the likes of Wepesi (Western Peugeot Services), the driver operating the Nairobi to Nyeri would do a clean 180kph at some point of the journey, esp if its the Australian spec with All 4 disk brakes and much responsive brake system without having to floor the pedal so that it can stop, They were called Nyeri Matuini ( meaning its either you arrive safe or you perish, there is no in between).
Such car would benefit from a smaller sport size steering wheel. More trouble when parking, but road handling would be much more pleasant and no worries about no airbag (never replace a steering wheel with airbag with one without airbag, it's a death sentence)

I agree the 504 brakes were just a touch of the toe,i think his booster is faulty
@@oscarkemey8560 yes you are right, probably a problem with the booster of this particular car
Maybe his rear brake shoes need adjustment.
The doors and windows always have problems 🤣

I'm partial to the 505 ❤🔥, the body design the square door handles...
Nice review, though wish you upgrade to the same cameras as SavageGeese.

Ahh the classic! Nice. Try not to have music in the video and watch your sound levels. Was not easy to heat at some sections

the C class of the 80's
What's the challenge today with this carbif I was to buy one?
I remember flying squard chasing criminals there was no match to it's speed
Dad had a 1974. Sadly, Ohio rusted it out quickly!
I need a good mechanic to work on 504 dashboard.
No powered steering 💪🏾
Thirsty?? 🤔
My Grandfather and his Friend’s owned these ones
My late dad and this car.
used to call it gari ya simba.
Why is this guy giving it a 4/10? and 5/10? You guys don't know what a real car is. Gari ya adabu Gari ya heshima

سيارة 504افضل سيارة في العالم
By the way which was the last Saloon model to be assembled in Kenya, the SR or the GR?
SR
You guys didn’t show us around and FYI it’s a 504 GR not a GL
Question, can a probox engine work in a Peugeot 504 or which EFI engine is compatible with a Peugeot 504
Nah, a probox is front wheel driven and the 504 is rear wheel driven but with a good fabricator and enough budget nothing is impossible.
1999 model?
Something wrong with the brakes. It keeps squealing.. nice car all the same. Like the station wagon
Simba
What country is it?
