The tyre guy doing the magnet thing is a pure example of loving their job and happy to go above and beyond what is expected of them as its part of their good nature. Those employees are the best! Love that. Clearly a Top Top guy.
Only a thought......look up Glastonbury festival, farm owner's tractor mounted magnet, used to clear the site of tent pegs at, after the "lovely, tidy" revellers have left. Would a smaller version on the JCB be an option??🤷
He needs a bigger magnet, would save him a lot of time
This episode is boring
Yh, big up the tyre man. Love his energy 💪
An Agg yard I used to work in had a wide magnetic on a bar that fit on the forklift tines and they drive that around the yard every couple of days picking up all the small bits or metal amd screws, bolts etc
Can we all just show some love for benji the tyre fitter. The guys is always happy looks like a great guy to be around.
Tyre lad hardest working bloke in the yard. Imagine how much Ashville were spending before they inhoused it, must have been a madness
22:00 Benji is a wonderful employee! Perhaps you could use a magnet attachment for the Wheel Loader or another device that someone could drive around periodically to collect metal scraps from the yard that cause these punctures. Edit: I learned from a quick web search that these devices are called magnetic sweepers.
scrap metal magnet on a digger
I was thinking the same thing, it could be a good routine to have someone sweep the yard for metal a few times a week and might save some money and time repairing tyres
21:50 in our yard we use a magnet bar mounted on a forklift to pick up any shrapnel
The man that fits the tyres, mends the punctures etc is definitely an asset to your company Daniel. It’s lovely to see someone so happy in their workplace. The country needs more people like him.
Small tip, don't have your forms with a default answer or yes/no, Means people can forget and miss report :)
Agreed- the default should be ‘please select’ and where appropriate there should be not applicable as an option too.
Or have it as check boxes which need ticked, so you know if there’s one missed
Also save all your investigations and breathalysers in reverse date order so they are readily available in chronological order. So instead of 08.01.24 it starts 240108
A thing I really love about Ashville is the care and pride they take with their equipment. It reminds me of 10-20 years ago in the Trucking industry of Australia, where operators would customise their trucks to suit their style and build a brand around it. That has largely stopped (although there are still glimmers of it) and it's sad to see. Great to see operators and businesses taking pride in their gear.
Benji! MVP! - THE TYRE VIKING!🎉
Daniel I’ve just watched this week’s episode and it reminded me that I watched a bbc episode about building basements in London and at the start of the show you see an old Asheville grab lorry pulling up at a job. Love the weekly updates and the stand alone videos. Keep up the good work.
Fit a truck-wide magnet to your sweeper truck, some firms even use a forklift-mounted device as well.
The tire guy you got to give him a raise. Going above and beyond and saving you money in the long run. That's great Initiative! He needs more camera time too Daniel. haha
170 episodes in and I’m still enjoying every one.😊
Ashville, Thank you for the weekly videos, as a starting solo-prenuer, watching ur videos gives me a sense of community and realism :)
Daniel you could buy benji a magnetic sweeper for around the yard, quite inexpensive in comparison to a tyre nowadays, £40 - £70 will get you one bud 👍🏼
I have previously praised the 'tyre guy' who I now know is called Benji (it's always nice to know their names). He is so hardworking. It really looks like a tough job which must be so much worse in the height of summer and the depths of winter. I can't imagine doing Benji's job during winter with icy hands going numb on the pry bars which remove the tyre from the wheel 🥶 He is such a great employee, you must keep Benji at Ashville at all costs!
the fella dropping off and picking up the heavy plant stuff seems like a top bloke, very chatty and friendly... need more of him, and Benji
11:24
Mark is a vibe😅
May 2024 be a great, safe and happy year for both you and the Ashville team. Happy to see your shoulder op was a success.
So very glad to see you’re getting better Daniel😊 BIG thumbs up to putting in place all your Health and Safety procedures. And, the world needs star employees like Benji! Plus, a magnetic forklift sweeper attachment would be helpful all round. Have a great week ahead Daniel, everyone😊❤
Excellent work on your accident report. When rolling it out to your troops ensure you brief the taking of photos. Not just the damage but the environment they are in. Muddy, slippery, lots of traffic, no manoeuvring space. Signage. Warnings, etc. a picture speaks a thousand words.
Dan it's great to keep track of accidents so you can have data and use thatvl data to negotiate better pricing with the insurance company. It's a great tool to use to shop for other insurance rates with different companies. Keeping records of breathalyzer testing is a great tool because it shows you care about your business, employees and clients and the public. It's a great example of leadership and preventative measures. Keep up the good work because Ashville is going to thrive💯🙏🏿✊🏿
Also there is an accessorie that attaches onto forks which is a very large and strong magnet, just drive around and it collects all metal from floor.
Every part of what you do is about making your company and the employees the best in the business. Every video always has little snippets of inspiration and the video with the clothing brand was full of them. Keep up the fantastic and inspirational job you do.
Once again its amazingly satisfying to watch your weekly video. It seems that your company is doing very good and i wish you all the best in this year!
I really like how Daniel can't wait to share his idea's and upcoming projects, it shows how dedicated and excited he is to actually make it happen.
Great video Daniel! The content and presentation is awesome, you and your team are great to watch and learn from. Keep up the great work and have a great safe and happy 2024
I am a business owner who has been watching these weekly videos since the beginning. This video definitely has the most business-oriented content of any that I can remember, and it is so rich with things I can take away and implement in my own business. Thank you so much Daniel & team for these videos!
I’m invested in Liam’s football career now😂
Great video! I watched the video with Cortez and was impressed with the marketing skills. Not to mention you highlighting someone in a different business. Good job taking extra steps to protect your employees and your business. Be Safe!
🙏🏽👊🏽😎
I work at selco builders warehouse and the health and safety are always on about ERIC. Eliminate Reduce Isolate Control. Does come into play in most workplaces
Ashville New Year's resolution is
WE ARE ON IT 💪. You go Daniel ❤
Daniel great viewing...respect to you I hope your company's keep growing and may your future safe and fulfilling.
I used to drive the train 153 325 for Arriva Trains Wales! I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store for it.
Love the content! From Canada.
You should do more “day in the life” series of all key people in business. Terri, sales etc.
You are 100% on right track with your accident investigation and reporting. Have you also included Near miss and hazard reporting as well. As this will work to prevent further accidents.
Sundays done right ❤
I love the transformation after the artwork gets completed on the fleet. Especially the volumetric lorry, I normally see them driving by in my area, always look 👌🏼
I caught this week's video early. You have inspired to start a business of my own. Your early mornings are ridiculous. Well done 👏🏾
😎👊🏽
The carriage is one hundred percent gunna be a podcast room! If it isn’t…. Use that as a podcast room! Perfect
You are a good man Daniel.
at 21:00, you should get a magnetic sweeper for the front of the forklift or something that drives around the yard to get all the screws and bits that maybe in the yard
You can't not like the tyre fitter. Always has a smile on his face and upbeat!
Daniel has single handedly showed us the insides of what its like to run a business. All the backends and hardships that come into play to maintain a functional business. I really applaud him for this. Entrepreneurship is really not as glamorous as these IG gurus make it to be. That being said, happy Sundays Ashville family
Morning all, morning Ashville
Its 3am in the USA. Goodmorning to you.
Keep doing the videos you want to do, it has got you this far, ignore the haters comments
Benji is 100% an asset to the business, you can see his thought process of being more preventative than reactive. Need more people to work like him!
Beautiful episode and this is masterpiece about a master class…
Where is Mama Ashville, we haven’t seen her in a while
You can get big long magnet that you attach under a fork lift, that will pick all the screws as you drive around.
Made up to see Bengie in a proper covered safe area 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽. Just needs a couple of acos across the front to keep the water out 😁🧱👍🏼
@ashville you can actually buy a roller wheel with a magnet , its my favourite tool at my yard especially around the skip areas.
Dan and IT Team, you really need to start using MS Forms to recording data. You’re very excel based and form based, you can add so much automation to it like reports, document outputs and emails when completing those forms for alcohol testing etc.
Great video Daniel. What you need in your yard is a robot lawn mower fitted with a magnet to pick up nails and screws 😂👍
Man like Daniel is SERIOUS!!
Yes wake an bake an ashville happy Sunday
Daniel, I'm Happy New Year to you might as well. 2024
All of our vehicles use the Caterpillar DSS system. It alerts you when you are distracted or if you have a microsleep.
Rain or Shine Daniel dropping content 💪
now that is motivation
I watched the sales video and found it fascinating. 🏴
I used to have a magnet FLT attachment than had a lever that you could pull to drop the collected screws etc into the skip
9:13 FFS looool u legend! I’m with the surgeon againnnnn 😂🔥
A lot going on in 2024 👍
I’m having a bad week with my weather dependent business, took my mind off it if only for 30 mins to enjoy another Asheville video
Morning Ashville family nice to see that Dan is on the mend ❤️🩹
Love the body cam on the worker. Keep that up
When looking at accidents there are only THREE factors. Behavioural, Environmental, Mechanical (happy to unpack that for you)
If you break down each accident within these three categories and then analyse the contributing factors that Ashville can control, you stand a much better chance of developing a strategy to reduce them, been doing this successfully in the Bus industry for the past 5 years, and developed a driver training module that works in with it.
By the way, Mark seems like a great ambassador for Ashville 👍🏼👍🏼
In the US we hang strong magnets from the front bumper of yard trucks to pick up metal before it can puncture tires. 300 dollars US is an average price.
Here in the states they have big magnets that can go on the front of forklifts. This might be worth it to help with nails, rebar, and screws in the yard
Nice, Daniel, you have a dog box 153. From a classic Loco enthusiastic, like too see the out come. 👍😁
Thank you 😊 (Benji, what a wonderful employee, you have there)
Instead of making excels and templates that need to be printed off, you could create apps on platforms such as Microsoft 365. Means all related information can be in one place i.e. related picures and you wouldn't need to input so much info manually i.e. every staff members full details (driving license, start date etc)...
Benji deserves a raise❤
You can get long magnets that attach to to the forklift
So nice to give the tyre fitter his own pool to work in
Good afternoon from Thailand (7 hours ahead of UK).
Coming from a quality background liking the RAC (Root cause analyse) I would just add a 5 Why to the sheet to avoid all the need for large white boxes. Or just go full 8D investigation if you really want to put the team through their paces.
18:40 was really helpful to me as I'm training to be a Personal trainer and risk stratification and safety is no. 1
👊🏽
I think we all need a more regular weekly dose of Mark's positivity !!
Dan im glad that for the 2024 u are on it🎉🎉
You got to love Benji, his a workerholic with a great personality one would think his family of Tezza👊
Would love to see a train setup on the Ashville property. Maybe plans for one of the old olympic containers?
Benji Keeping that tray of screws for 'Strategic redistribution' 🤣😂🤣😂
I used to work in a chemical company, and if you wanted to climb the promotional ladder, you had to do a spell as the 'safety officer'. A thankless task as it involved trying to get everyone to spend some time doing safety matters when they just wanted to get on. you had to develop skills to do it on top of your normal duties. You need to spend your time thinking how to make profit!
Hi Daniel, I love your channel, great Boss I might go and do the medical and get my LGV licence back. 😂😂
There’s a great body shop at the end of courts lane Iver. Next to the cherry picker place, my brother used to work there, always great work. Pete is the Boss and the Man to see. Insurance approved so take your dent there, they do excellent standard of work. I’m in Dorset now, but they used to look after my minibus fleet. 👍
Great video as always. Two questions, 1. If you continue showing everyone all the forms you’re creating, aren’t you making it easier for people to sue you if something happens to your fleet, knock on wood that doesn’t happen.
2. With all these safety procedures your creating, at what point are you going to crest a safety person position for your company?
You may want to invest in the tyre bead breaker machine, especially with all those company vehicles the office staff use.
I do love a good spreadsheet moment!! Check your spellings Daniel, “cer’tit’ifications” 😂😂
I smell a new office coming for Daniel with the train carriage :)
Thank you 😊
good work and i will share with the more digitalized template for accident reporting ... that includes (near miss).
@thisisashville - regarding the readily carriage, I understood there is one in Derbyshire that was going to be removed
epurposed. It's an old pulman at The Mill Inn at Rowarth. I can find out more, and if still available if this sounds appealing. I would suspect a heavy lifting job as I don't think it's on tracks.
Andy
Shame the tyre bay is holding so much water. Have a great and prosperous 2024
Must be that, AGG is very hard to Master 20 year's of having that as business. Please keep creating more content.
We have near miss reporting which encourages all members of staff to report near misses be it an extension lead left across a walkway which could be tripped over etc.
This could be implemented to highlight potential accidents.
Have you thought about asphalting the yard to eliminate the mud issue?
Just a thought 🤔 Colour code that excel sheet it breaks it down so it's quicker to show people when you want them to go to certain sections especially over the phone.
Benji's such a good bloke
After involvement in a few HSE investigations I can tell you that in-depth incident recording is paramount to protect the company and its directors.
You can your tyre fitter a fishing magnet to "fish" for nails in the yard, those are much stronger than what he has at hands right now.
Daniel should turn a train carriage In to his new office 😂
