they screwed themselves with wings of light. it's a move they can never allow to be good because people would riot, but at the same time it still breaks the rules and she has to pay for that. so she just carries around this useless shackle and her whole kit is built around a win condition that doesn't actually exist

Id say this isnt really the pattern. Season 3 Johnny and Elphlet did suck. People thought Aba sucked and then thought she was good. Season 2 Sin and Bedman did suck and Asuka was good. (honestly dont remember peoples thoughts on release bridget)
This isn't intended to be another big balance patch, just a quick fix for the stuff they screwed up last update. The fact that Dizzy got changes at all is unusual. I'd expect proper character adjustments the patch after this one.
I think it is just a time amount, I am sure they see she's weak, but I think they tend to give their characters a bit of time to breathe before making changes just incase in like a month someone figures out shes broken
Another big issue with her is how her ice maxes out the gravity on combos, it gives your opponent an absurd amount of resources when you combo them and that makes wings of light even worse when they have consistent access to yellow RC or burst
She really reminds me alot like Testament when he came out In this game 3 step characters suffer a lot because ok... you do all the steps but theres characters that straight ignore whatever she's doing plus they get to convert over anything and she doesn't... also she doesn't have that much health so fighting GL or Nago she just diesss even on block the shunks of life gone is horriblee
Some cool buffs id like to see. Wings of light letting her have one extra air action. Would love to see empowered moves when she's in ice floor. Block strings suck too much in my opinion it really feels like she has no moves that are safe to use after close slash far slash. Honestly, I think I would've preferred it if Wings of Light acted like an install that just drained meter as soon as you activated it, but buffed her moveset/framedata and made it so she could fight up-close and stuff. So she'd be incentivized to zone / whatever and build up meter, and then close in and pressure her opponent up close with good tools to do so at the cost of losing/delaying other options like RC and her supers. Maybe even structuring her pressure to end with a projectile so she can cancel her Wings of Light in a blockstring and avoid losing more meter. I'm not sure she would be good in the climate of ggst, but man does it sound like it'd be fun.
most of the time when I try to play Dizzy I find in most situations with her I would rather be playing Testament, who feels like what Dizzy wants to do but the reward just isn't there.

Long time Dizzy Player since GGX... Arcsys really dropped the ball with this one. I strongly agree with the "no reward" situation, pretty much sums up everything she does - no reward, nada, nothing... I would like to throw the ArcSys developers on the last floor and show us what the intention on her design really was,. because I don't know. 😅
itd be really nice if Arcsys let zoners actually be good in this game. I'm getting tired of just holding forward and going gorilla mode being the way to play Strive
If wings of light reminds me of Gogeta's Finish Sign. I also thought when first seeing it it was too busted but the getting the setup time right is what makes the move less crazy than it looks
Honestly, yeah, I hate this version of her bc she's just boring asf. Just a Lame ass zoner with boring mix and instant freeze lockdown. Why didn't they make it that she has a balance between fire and ice with different properties and usage? That way, she will be good and actually fun to play

@ The other moves were just a different element of what she already had. The fire and ice pillar are the same thing, but one is fire and one is ice. Ice dagger and fire dagger. Ice fish and fire fish. The only move that’s truly missing is ice scythe and its variant. Bubble was moved from a special move to a normal but admittedly it isn’t as good. So what exactly is she missing? You have the combo tool pillar, you have the neutral lockdown with fish, and you have the projectile in dagger.
The change to Fire Spear really hurts. It beating zoning is nice but it was one of her strongest tools, as toxic as it was. And without it, I think she probably is bottom 3. Especially with nearly everyone else getting better or just having stronger win conditions. Her specials are good but most of her buttons are just incredible slow, laggy, have bad hitboxes, or all of the above.
I really like the change to her fire projectile a ton in terms of making her more fun to play as and against, and it’ll probably be a healthy change in the long run for sure, but she definitely needs some help going forward

I don't want what your saying to be true but it's just a fact and I also wanted to say that her Arial game is absolute garbage that's often how the opponent tries to get close to you after you set up ice field and she just can't deal with it or if she tries to approach from the air it also ends horribly for her
I was hoping Frozen state meter generation would get fixed. But not only did they not fix it, they destroyed her best functional move in Fire Spear. Allowing it to eat other projectiles doesn't help due to how slow Fire Spear is. By the time it reaches an opponent who used a projectile, they're already recovered and blocking. Who does this stop? Potemkin doing Heat Knuckle? I know it was too soon to get real fixes to her kit, but this was by far way worse. The next true patch, they need to give her real buffs. 1. Frozen state needs to not max meter regen and Burst regen. 2. 6P better range and 5P/2P should pushback less. 5P/2P > 6P should combo more consistently. 3. fS should be 11f startup. It being the same as HS with worse reward and less hitstun is crap. This would help round start. 4. 5H's third hit needs to guarantee freeze. Hitting first 2 hits and whiffing the 3rd is awful and happens way too often. Make the 3rd hit bigger or reduce knockback on first 2 hits and add it to the 3rd to make it happen. 5. 2D should low profile or at least have necro hurtbox removed. 6. 2H should not have a hurtbox on necro. This would fix 2H getting stuffed all the time. 7. 2S should be a low. Have a tiny bit more range for round start. 8. 6H should be 18f startup. This would enable Ice Field resets with 5K/2K > 6H and not be 4f mashable. 9. 6[H] should be an overhead. I don't think this makes it viable enough for mixup, but this would give your opponent another thing to think about on defense. 10. Michael Sword's hitbox should be a tiny bit taller and the knockback be a tiny bit slower. Not to be easier to hit people jumping, but rather make 2H into Michael Sword not whiff on awkward hits. This also makes Ice Spike pickups easier due to the slightly extra hang time. 11. Ice Spike's hitbox needs to match its animation. Also, Ice Spike should be 20f instead of 24 for several reasons: A. HS/2D is 12f, S Michael is 15f, Ice Spike is 24f, and H Michael is 26f. Ice Spike and H Michael overlap timings. 20f would cover a 9f gap in pressure and can be used as another frametrap. Especially against people who mash 6P against S Michael Sword pressure enders. B. 20f Ice Spike can wallbreak if H Michael Sword causes a fullscreen wallstick. Right now, if H Michael Sword fullscreen wallsticks, you can't break the wall except with Gamma Ray. C. Catch some characters easier that try to zone Dizzy like Axel, HC, Bedman. D. Pickup after H Michael Sword easier. 12. Make Dizzy's Super pull the opponent in closer. Sometimes Wings of Light that has triggered will whiff when doing Super at the maximum range. Also increase damage slightly or improve proration. The damage is simply too low and has caused many issues where opponent is left at 1 HP. 13. Wings of Light should be 20f startup instead of 22f. And deactivating Wings of Light should be REALLY fast like 10f. Make it an extra pressure reset tool like Blazblue Tsubaki's 5D. 20f startup on normal Wings of Light activation still enables a 1f frametrap after 6[H]. These are a lot of changes, but after playing the character for a bit and labbing a lot of stuff, these feel justified but also very reasonable changes (except Wings of Light deactivation, which is bonus fun).

It lines up with what ArcSys does, they didn't buff Sin in the season 2 winter patch because it was so close to his release.
