I would like to see videos regarding true counter play against the degenerate options these characters present. Nothing character specific (except maybe DPs). Whether it be pressing 4f/5f normals, ranged moves, 6Ps, FDing at specific parts, jumping a particular way or timing as well as potential reverse counterplay the opponent may utilize to beat those options. People are aware of the abusable moves and strategies, but there is clearly not enough conversations happening around how these characters enforce these options.
I started playing very recently, in my experience the 5 characters that make me think 'wtf are they even doing' are asuka, zato, jack-o, bedman and millia. Not saying they are strong it's just that trying to learn only by watching what they do fells impossible. Elphelt would be there too but I fight her way too much so I started understanding
A.B.A scare factor is huge in low level play. The moment i swap into JR in floor 6 opponents just kind of stop their offense and try to to just low block and then die to overhead. For some reason a ton of players also try to mash danzai after the first hit, just to get counterhit and die.
My problem with this game is that there are a ton DLC characters with insanely obnoxious knowledge checks. If I want to practice against half the cast I have to pay what, more than what I paid for the actual game itself? Games still fun though Im not a hater*
As a Sin player, ngl, when I grinded tower (I became a Sin player when he came out on PS4, dropped the game when I sold my PS4 around Elphelt's release and came back on pc right after Dizzy dropped) he felt way too strong, mostly because people don't know what is true and what isn't, specially regarding his follow ups, many people do not watch your meter nor think that as a fact, you can not use the follow up and go for something else (jumping or grabbing will for sure get most people at least before floor 10 will eat a bait more than once.
This is definitely me I’m usually hard stuck celestial challenge and my issue is I let most of these characters reset their offense when I should had taken my turn. I never IB but I see it used in tournaments a lot what does it do make moves less safe? Also my main issue is really not knowing how to lab the situation since I don’t know how to play the character. How would you go about labbing a character situation you don’t know how to play like bedman or something. Also w vid❤
IB creates less pushback and IBFD pushes the opponent wayyy back. If you dont know how to handle a situation then joining the character discord for the character and asking questions goes a longgg way.
This is me with jacko but I started playing her to roughly understand how she works. All of a sudden she slowly becoming my secondary main but now I know her gaps. Same with slayer and elphelt. Just being optimistic helps a lot in this game where everyone complains

Idk if it helps but his comboes arent much different rn. Out side of dp have actually convertability every combo is gonna take about 1 to 2 stocks on his resource. I think where the learning curve comes from is knowing when to cut things short or knowing when to reset.

@@Aeirion With ABA U wanna stay patient and try to parry and aggressive eddie plays in neutral. Use 5H to try and kill eddie from farther out. There's alot of knowledge check in terms of getting out of Eddie pressure as well that I can explain if your really struggling. In JR you can play more aggressive and use her Jumps and JH to avoid eddie and beat 6p. You can do Abas Command dash special and go thru eddie at certain points OR do her full screen super in JR and take the space from there.
@DomiWurld I find that they end up using Oppose a lot midscreem or when I'm trying to fight back. They keep me locked down or push me into the corner, which is where I lose. Any character really, I just have no idea when to jump or mash. Using deflect shield or YRC are good but I don't always have the meter. Same for simply bursting out. But at that point am I meant to just lose? Like this is gonna sound like such a scrubquote but when I fight Zato I don't get why he's bad. And I played at launch when he was considered good.
the only thing you can really do is predict it and grab if you see that the anji likes doing spin on roundstart just go up to him and grab if you see him spinning and hes far away you shouldnt run up grab because (im not sure) but i think that he can cancel spin, when hes spinning from far away you can run up to him if ur playing a character that likes to be close to the enemy but you shouldnt really grab in that situation
Lmao strive community thinking pot is the best character is hilarious, taking in mind he got reverted to the state he was 2 patches ago, but with less damage and no megafist (move got destroyed and it's useless) it's honestly hilarious. Flick lost it's hard knockdown on normal hit (big nerf to his pressure) Garuda got completely nerfed with it's risk increase being completely gone and the chip damage being gone too, full counter hit on all the animation.
@Myriad-Aveira what's yours is the question, read the patch notes, just read it it's not that complicated, damage got reduced below 2 patches ago and the only positive difference is armor buster, with multiple negatives like worse slide head, worse flick pressure, completely deleted mega fist with no evasion at all.

The unanimous top tiers from anyone who knows what they’re taking about is GL, Ram, Johnny. And I think you just don’t understand that individual balance tweaks pale in comparison to over all game developments. Pot is strong right now because of the context of this season. And because he’s still a great character, you’re kinda downplaying hard right now.

Bedman is definitely a good tower character. Projectile spamming on its own does so much.
