In my humble opinion it was Lily's way of getting back at Brenda since she set her sights on Miguel after the incident with Sonny. Lily knew very well that although Sonny was furious with Brenda, he still loved her with all his strength and soul. So she went to daddy so he could force Sonny to marrying her since her father is the one who provided the bail money and made the grand jury indictment go away.
Man. Sonny was spineless. I think he tried to make up for his mistakes in 2010, but the damage was done. As women I would doubt his love too. He lied so much
