They missed an opportunity in that scene where Cate turned off Sams feelings and sam was talking to his imaginary brother. Cate can read minds so it would have been cool if she could hear Sams internal dialogue with himself and talked to imaginary Golden Boy.

Throughout the season Cate has consistantly stated her motivations as being in the best interest of her friends. She genuinely believes attacking non supers is the right thing to do because she knows how much harm they can and had caused to herself and her friends. She doesn't believe she turns on her friends because she thinks she's saving them. Sam along with the rest of the supes from the woods probably just wants to stick with her because their interests are aligned. We also see that Sam is very gulable in the show, and is willing to make relationships with bad people so he can feel secure. About the Andre 'suddenly' being affected by his powers - he HAS had the fatigue of heavy exertion when he does something high scale (and a helicopter out of control is a LOT of weight), but more importantly, "That which is seen cannot be unseen" - he is going to be hyper aware and will have psychosomatic responses even when it's too small a scale to be felt this early in his life.

I realized an inconsistency between the use of compound V between the two shows. In the Boys, people thought that powers were naturally occurring mutations or the like. Until the bombshell that is was compound V. But in Gen V, it appears common knowledge, and parents 15-20 years ago were giving it to their kids with no oversight.

I still have a theory that Rufus used his powers to persuade Sam a little bit toward the extremism… it wouldn’t be hard bc as you wisely showed, Sam had many reasons why that side would appeal to him, but if you go back to the penultimate episode and watch how many times he touches Sam- like, who does a full proper handshake when meeting a fellow 19yo in their college dorm😂?!- and how they make such a point to show him touching Sam; Literally almost every time they showed them during that scene in last weeks ep he was touching him, especially before they arrived at the rally… But like, even when they’re just cheering and watching the other kids go down the ice luge… Rufus has his hand on Sam’s shoulder the whole time... Which stood out, bc earlier, they made a point to show us that he needs to be near ppl to use his power at all, and to touch people to totally control them and use it to full capacity… and we really didn’t need to know that much detail, aside from what turned out to be the red herring (that it was Cate controlling them, not Rufus), so I find it odd to explain his power sm, and have him keep entering scenes (even in this episode) when he barely affected the plot overall. It was like they didn’t want us to forget about him?
    But… why?
Perhaps because they knew he’d be important next season, because they know he was up to something we haven’t learned about yet during this one??
I think it’s something with Sam.
I’m not saying that he was responsible for all of Sam’s actions, tbc, but maybe he kind of got the ball rolling, so to speak, because he knew how powerful Sam was and wanted him on the side of the supe-nazis (haha unintentional seinfeld ref.. they should use that on the show lol) for that reason. Maybe once Sam discovers that Rufus did that, if it’s true, and that he’s being controlled again, he’ll realize Emma was the only one who let him just be himself… maybe it’ll be just enough to push him back to the good side- since he was already so close to the fence- and he’ll want to help Emma next season.
Now as for Emma’s powers haha..
The interesting thing about them is that I always wondered how she discovered her power. And now, knowing what we know, I think you may be right that it was more to do w emotions and she assigned it to her ED bc she always had an ED to begin with.
Because… think about it… If eating (and only eating) was what made her get big, wouldn’t she get big anytime she had a big meal like on Thanksgiving or something? At least by a bit? It makes no sense- there has to be something else that regulates it (or regulates it TOO, but it can’t be JUST the binge and purge imo).
For her to “realize” that throwing up made her small, she would’ve had to be purging to begin with. Because sure, you could argue that she could’ve discovered it when she was sick or something but the way they show it in the show, it’s as though she gets smaller every time she throws up, when she throws up many times in a row… So throwing up one time and then not again for a few hours or whatever… the way you do when you’re sick… probably wouldn’t have made her make the connection (or believe it, anyway) that that was her power and the way to control it.
I almost feel like she had to of been binging and purging to begin with… Which would make sense because, aside from genetic predisposition, eating disorders are a lot to do with control and the afflicted person feeling like they don’t have control over their own life… Emma’s mother is so overbearing and controls every aspect of her life, even now as she’s become a young adult, so I’m sure that was only worse when she was much younger…
Beyond that… Binging and purging is similar to an addiction in that you feel “high” while binging then you feel low after, and guilty, so then you get a high again from purging… And then you feel guilty and sad again after that… so it really isn’t inconceivable that her power could have more to do with her emotional state than anything else.
And if you think about the times that we’ve seen her change size… It was right before she was going to film her TH-cam video- which she was feeling really embarrassed about and inadequate because of; I mean, remember, in the beginning, she was even embarrassed when people recognized her from the videos? Seems like an odd reaction for somebody who’s trying to make a name for themselves through those same videos.
But it wasn’t the kind of hero she wanted to be and made her feel out of control again.
The next time we saw her change was during a sexual experience where she was degraded and used as a fetish- something that would make anyone, but especially a young woman, feel small and like nothing.
Then, was when she had the opportunity to save Sam, and help the popular kids in the school who she had wanted to befriend, so obviously she would have adrenaline and excitement but maybe also feel inadequate in comparison to them and like she wasn’t truly cut out for being a hero (like her moms voice in her head, so to speak) … and then when she got big, she was literally afraid that her new boyfriend was going to kill her friends😂 but also was confident that she was the one who could stop him.
So maybe it’s something like she has to be in a heightened emotional state and then focus on which size she wants to be or something like that… or maybe it’s emotionally charged by when she truly FEELS big or small… cause that could go back to the ED too… like someone with an ED would feel huge after one gigantic binging meal… like body dysmorphia …. Feeling like they’ve gained visible weight immediately after eating….
So maybe it really is more to do with FEELING big or small and that can mean emotionally (like after Sam told her she wasn’t a hero so she felt like nothing, or in the flip side, when she confidently knew that only she could save the day and therefore got big) or it could be physically and with body dysmorphia (feeling “small” after purging making her small, or feeling “big” after eating a lot being what makes her get big).
    We shall see.
Lastly, I knew homelander was going to take the “wrong” side… but I definitely didn’t expect it to go down the way it did lol.
I would imagine that next season, it’s going to be Sam, who eventually feels empathy for Emma and wants to help her… either bc he just comes around or bc what I said about Rufus is true and comes out and makes him realize they’re controlling him as much as anyone else was.

Lmfao get real. People like you who can't or don't want to understand Sam's motivations are LITERALLY a reason that they get pushed into extremism. You're doing exactly what Emma did. You're denying his feelings and his wants, instead telling him what he should do or think. You literally would rather believe that he was being mind controlled instead of understanding where he's coming from. Obviously he's wrong but everything in his life leading up to that point doesn't make him believe that. And just saying that's stupid, no. Is entirely dismissive. Again, he probably can't even remember a single nice person without super powers. They were either conducting experiments on him or they were the family that turned him into what he is. For him it's us(the supes) versus them and it's plainly evident and set up from the beginning. What happened is that people fell into the emotional trap of becoming enamored with Sam and Emma's interactions. And with more time she absolutey could have rehabilitated him but she literally never even had the chance to introduce him to a non supe who wasn't shoving needless into his spine

When Homelander shot Marie I thought they would do something similar to Game of Thrones, but when I saw that she was alive it was kind of forced that she survived and since they didn't show how she did it, but I'm sure they will put that in the second season and as for where they were it reminded me of the movie X-Men Apocalypse when the guys are kidnapped, it was weird for me to see Emma since she didn't fight and she was a girl so I figured she could have escaped and outside she would have helped those who were kidnapped, but for sure it was up to Sam to come back and find her mini so it was easy to take her.
