@@MatthewFutrell Yes thats what I said..
Noir being the same actor, but allowed to talk is hilarious
how do you know it's the same actor?
@othmanehaldaoui he's credited on IMDB
I think it's homelanders voice and they're going to do a reveal at some point like in the comics.
@@andr3wbrowynit’s not
that’s actually really cool. i thought “real” noir was super badass, and i assumed the fake one was a new actor because they were so different (and ‘cringe’). it’s really interesting seeing the actor play two completely different characters
Sister Sage gave herself lobotomy (hence bloody pipe) to blow out some steam, but since she's supe, she'll heal. Guess it's not the first time she's done so
I was wondering wtf that was.
thats what i thought, makes sense
That was my thought as well considering she is well-read but was choosing to watch mindless entertainment.
I thought it was from her finding the Octopus, killing it and feeding it to Deep lol
perfectly explains the way she was acting. it is like her way of getting stoned or drunk after a long day
Seeing Homelander out of costume was jarring. The fact that it was just every MCU character going off grid nondescript baseball cap and plain shirt/jacket is hilarious.
Even the colors are matching thou. He can get out of that suit, but that suit is still on him one way or another.
@@gumballz.9259 It's hilarious he thinks essentially wearing the same outfit is somehow incognito.
Lmao He was dressed like a Big Kid
Baseball hats 🧢 are to the MCU as glasses 👓 are to the DCU
I think black noir speaking was the funniest thing so far imaoo probably the funniest bit of the show.
Do we know who’s wearing the suit yet
@@Alpha23TV It's the same actor but he gets to speak now
Is the same actor from the other seasons Nathan Mitchell, we’re finally hearing his voice.
And he was in Supernatural too, angel Kelvin
@@ettoredamicodelgrosso2444i think he means who is he in the show…
“come back with me…to the suburbs” funniest line of the season 😭
jaydes?
That was hilarious but for me it’s either Black Noir after killing 2 people saying “Yo wtf that was soooo fucked up you guys!.” Or after falling asleep and being kicked awake saying “OH SHIT! Sorry I’m a narcoleptic guys.”

Entire sequence had me fucking HOWLING nonstop
Kimiko was staring at the mouse because her brothers nickname was "Mouse", cause he used to save Mice in their village. She even has a flashback of him from Season 2 later
Mice are also food for snakes, the Twin Dawn logo
When they were scrolling through the new candidates for The Seven, one Sage's ability was regeneration. I think she uses lobotomy to some parts of her brain to wind down after what happened at the Vaught tower. Maybe thats her way to tamper down her massive brain power for a little while.
That actually makes sense.
wowee that totally makes sense and is so freakin sad for her. Now I can totally understand, though, what was happening there lol
I had the same thought. I absolutely agree
She seemed drunk but there was no alcohol or weed anywhere
Watching trash tv, eating crap food, not to mention hooking up with Deep, yeah she's totally lobotomized. Interesting if she did that to herself, I would have thought homelander got tired of her disagreeing with him and did that himself. (He is that petty)
Seeing Deep stand up to Ashley was the funniest moment 😂😂😂
I like how she is STILL able to make fun of him until he threatens her physically 😂 “you f*cking land mammals now?”
I really like the introduction of Sage. Homelander recruiting her is like a twisted version of Superman teaming up with his villains. Because Superman's two most well known villains are super geniuses who use their intellect to match Superman's strength, Lex Luthor and Brainiac.
I love how The Boys makes use of these long running ideas from comic books and puts a twist on them.
Like Superman teaming up with Lex? Thats messed up. Even on Crime Syndicate's Earth, Ultraman and Lex are opposite sides.
it reminded me more of a dark version of the scene in avengers civil war where Tony stark came to see Peter Parker at his apartment to recruit him to his team
Since she has no other major powers beyond her brains, i thought it was like him finding his Batman, a master strategist to steer the team, but for evil.
@@mon_nobiShe has regeneration powers too because she gave herself a trans orbital lobotomy at the end of episode 3 which is why she was acting all drunk with a bloody metal pipe on the table.
@@iamteazynThat’s a good catch it is very similar.
The Deep's octopus girlfriend is voiced by Tilda Swinton. She is just on side quests now lol.
I think the Cesar reference is just to hint that homelander will be betrayed or (stab in the back) as he already is by Atrain.
ok
maybe by his son, it has to be by someone he trusts for the betrayal to hit and i don't think he trusts, likes or respects atrain at all.
@@metalface_villain Correct. I also want to point out that famous quote of him saying “ Et tu Brute” as he was stabbed by Marcus Junius Brutus who some historians claim might have actually been Julius Caesar’s (bastard, possibly) son. Fits with the idea that Ryan might actually be the one to kill Homelander.
Or by Sage herself
Homelander's civilian street wear disguise is the same one that Steve Rogers wore when he was helping Bucky in Captain America Civil War. Since Homelander is as much of a parody of Captain America as he is Superman, that's probably where the choice in clothing comes from.
"Winter Solider" not "Civil War" he was pretty much suited up all of Civil War
It's Clark Kent from Smallville
@@thedarthbred lmfao Smallville didn't have "Suits" just weird 90s-00s clothes
Sage lobotomized herself to relax and enjoy Transformers 2
Now it makes sense why she got along with deep then 😂

I loved the 3 episode they were intense , and fun to watch. The depresing tone really hits so well.
I keep thinking A Train is going to die 😢
i thought they are a fraction to how good season 1-3 started and imo is a low brow approach to the entire premise.
i give it a 5/10 so far...
@@30.06onaGrassyKnollI only watched the first episode. It was the first episode of the entire show that I didn’t really like. After episode 1, I turned the show off and watched a baseball game. That would have never happened with the first three seasons. Hope it gets better. It’s definitely one of my favorite shows ever
@@30.06onaGrassyKnoll i don't know man, the show has the same premise and politics as it always had, the only difference is that after season 2 it wasn't as subtle with it. i know why some people didn't like season 3 and these new eps, because they finally realized they are the ones who are being clowned on but if u liked the 3rd season i don't see why you wouldn't like this one as well.
I think there's a little more to Homelander's mirror scene. Last season he talked to only one reflection. This time he's even more unhinged so his personality has split further, too. Notice how the lower three reflections all portray different approaches to handle the situation while the one above is only grinning evil and when he speaks up at the end, he shuts the others down and tells Homelander what to do.
There's a theory that the og formula of V causes long term effects the same way temp V is affecting butcher. That's why so many supes are off.
Could be why kimko has a conscience, even though nurture vs nature would dictate she shouldn't(like he brother) but she has a super healing power. Maeve as well. Which doesn't bode well for starlight cause she's invulnerable, not super healing.
I believe the poker may have been used to dumb her down given how she acts with deep in that scene
Then the Deep will be confused why she acts like nothing happened or doesn’t remember in episode 4.
She lobotomized herself
@@diskeyesthat's it. Didn't see it long enough to process what that was, just saw blood.
Sage is officially the scariest member of the 7.... I'd say even homelander can see how much power she has im excited to see her character grow in the show.
I mean, the smartest woman (cuz i believe there must be somone smarter (man) beacuse woman cant be the smartest person) if you use that amount of knowledge to making bad stuff, it is about to be diabolical
You think whatever she started with The Deep is also part of her scheme?
nahhhhhh
She'll be dead and gone by the end of the season
yeah, no.
Another small note: Firecracker's comment about getting into The Seven without needing to bl*w anyone to get there, that's also a reference to the lie/rumor that Annie told other people on the pageant circuit.
Wait up, either I didn't pay attention, or you actually missed the Neo vs Mr Smith fight when Butcher fights with all the duplicants, and they all jump on him, just as the scene in the 2nd Matrix movie.
I thought that was a reference, yes, The Burley Brawl
It's... inevitable... Mr. Anderson (echoes: Mr Anderson)
Not at all.
Newman got more terrifying after the acid and gunshot to the head. The casual response and smile freaked me out
So cool. One of my favourite characters
I'm wondering whether Ryan's unique birth and powers could make him immune to the supe virus
I think so since he was actually born a supe, he will eventually be the most powerful.
Would be very cool if he doesn't have v in his system (at all, so grandpa and the virus doesn't work on him) and he Is actually all natural and more powerful than homelander (when he grows a pair) but all homie wants is to be loved but if he can't get that being feared is a-ok-dokie 👌 by him.

This is a weird one to call out but not only did Anka (RIP) try to share her almond Joy with Black Noir, she also did officially share it with Annie at one point as well on Screen.

The imdb Xray thing on Prime says the character Will Ferrel is playing is Brink, the professor who Clancy Brown played in Gen V who was killed by Golden Boy
FYI, it's pretty obvious that Sage is an Ozymandias analog. She's super smart playing the long game to her own ends. Don't be surprised if psychic squids start falling from the sky.
Love the Ancient One’s cameo voicing the octopus 🐙
Koy from ep.2 is John Koyama. The Boys stunt coordinator
Yeah I figured he was the actual stunt coordinator just playing himself. He must have loved getting splattered on the wall
If Ryan gets a suit I just want it to be a carbon copy of Butcher’s fit
Hahahah, i would like that also.

The poker on sages table was most likely used to stab herself in the brain as a way to dumb her self down or get high. It has to be incredibly exhausting being the smartest person alive and surrounded by idiots all the time. It might be her way of decompressing
You are correct, the tool is called a Transorbital Lobotomy Orbitoclast. Also, I'm not entirely sure she is going to recover from that. It was said earlier that her intelligence is her only super power and that she is a normal person other than that.
@@aristotle29 Ya, I recognized it right away too, I THINK being the smartest person she knows how to use turn on and off her brain by swishing it a little, though maybe she decided the only way out was to not be useful anymore.

it's really hard to see the Boys nowadays , the reference is not subtle anymore, and the sad thing is, it's not the show fault, it's the real world that has become more crazy
I like that when it is more subtle conservatives have no idea what they are enjoying.
The bloody poker in front of Sage is used for giving lobotomies. My guess is she lobotomizes herself to relax and turn off her genius. Her attributes card showed she has regeneration ability so she probably just heals back to normal by the next day.
The desantis sticker was a nice touch considering he smiles like a real world homelander

Sister Sage is going to be the one to take down Homelander, because his true weakness is his ego, and she has the power to manipulate him. A bit like how Butcher decided against giving Ryan the cookies, because he realised all he has to do is talk to him.
She'll figure out what happened behind the red door and weaponise that childhood trauma. Possibly with Cate from Gen V's help.

Idk she seems pretty evil and down to rule the world with or without homelander but just hates the supe spotlight
Regardless doe I’m pretty sure she lobotomized herself with that bloody pocker on the table given the fact she seemed alot more ditzy and wanting to watch transformers 2 with the deep of all people
Hopefully it ain’t permanent because I really like her character would be a shame to get rid of her that quick , seems like an intellectually dangerous villain for the boys
Great recap as always
My #1 favorite show!!!!!! Great breakdown guys, and Doug. Was wondering if you've considered the program "Evil" for review as well? Peace and again, great works on your channel!
love the HeavySpoilers war with Paul lol!
Im very much happy with what we’ve got so far. This show doesn’t disappoint imo.
The scene showing Victoria Newman unfazed by the acid or the bullet shot to the head. Also gives a good understanding for how the girl in GenV was able to take a direct hit from Homelanders eye lasers since they have the same powers
The video game was an obvious reference to the Mortal Kombat series. Especially how brutal and gory the gameplay was shown. This also reflects to the fact that Homelander was a guest character in the latest Mortal Kombat game.
What did you think of the premiere?
Meh
It was alright. There have been far stronger starts to a season. The first two episodes were all over the place with some good bits inbetween. Episode 3 was the only episode that truly felt like "the boys" are back. Im excited for the rest for the season and Im looking forward to Homelanders arc however I think they are kinda being to slow with his descend into madness. I mean its better than rushing it but I feel like they have to make him snap already to keep the show exciting.
Mid
Overall it a better start than season 2 ,and 3 it was high bar to begin with , violence actually has justification on like some or nastiness in season 3 I'm looking forward to what's in store for butcher , home lander, sage kessler ,and surprisedly A train. Neuman is always interesting, and im prefering this more espionage focused on the season thus far. The other character I'm sure will have pay off except maybe starlight shes been getting the shaft since season 2. Frenchie story is obviously gonna blow up in his face which it fine with colon is not interesting, and im both horrified, and excited for ryan character development.
It’s definitely darker than S3.
The Sister Sage lobotomy and Homelanders back stories are both gonna be awesome story arcs. Also enjoying 8 Train this season. I love that the Boys avoid “mystery boxes”. They definitely keep you guessing, but they often resolve them within several episodes!

@@Jadensdivineit’s wild how some hear what they actually do innit?
I enjoyed this video. It provided more insight to each characters motives. I am amazed by all the symbolism put into these episodes.
This season seems to be centered around “reconciling with one’s past”. Kokomo, Frenchie, Huey, Starlight, Butcher, ATrain, and now Homelander.
You didnt even mention the pink eye scene 😂😂 reminded me of the south park episode
One thing I don't know if anyone noticed is the stuntman's name is Koy. I remember Claudia Doumit saying in an interview that she trained with Koy for her first fight scene.
That's the show's real Stunt Coordinator in that role, who is named Koy.
Did Sage lobotomize herself either to deal with those idiots (and thus enjoy dumb stuff) or to forget something so nobody can stop her master plan?
Love this format! syncing them all together. Does it hurt your numbers to have one big video rather then 3 videos? If I could like it 3 times totally would.
Homelander pulled off the “captain America look” hidden in plain sight with a hat and jacket
The A-Train redemption arc is just starting, i am looking forward to see what will happen with this character
He needs to become one of the boys to survive this change 😢😭
I hope he doesn't die
Sage stabbed herself in the brain to dull her intelligence for a while, which is why she's eating a blooming onion, watching transformers and hooking up with Deep. Just to feel normal for a while
Im so glad its back
I believe the bloody poker is from a lobotomy! This would also explain her change in behavior that The Deep even references. My only question is did she lobotomize herself as some sort of plan or did someone else like Homelander do it? I can't imagine she is actually supportive of Homelander, so I think she did it herself to disable his ability to use her.
I think she did it to “get high” by basically Turing off her brain, that’s if she heals of course
@@BlackBSolzshe does
Within a show where many characters have regenerative powers or simply previously unknown invulnerability (Victoria Neuman), it could certainly be both self-inflicted and temporary: Sage's version of getting high or drunk is just to get stupid, order unhealthy food, watch bad television and movies, and make poor hook-up choices.
That’s true I didn’t even consider getting “high” as an aspect of it. I would imagine if she heals like some of the other supes though the high wouldn’t last that long.

I think sister sage is being totally honest with homelander when she says he will be like Caesar she’s probably planning on turning against him and getting those around him to stab him in the back
Isn't sister sage also in that super hero show powers froms sony? And doesn't this seem to be almost exactly what Edgar warned homelander would happen?
Boys recap part 2!!!!
P.s.
Just a tease still here for the breakdowns😂
There’s a weird noise around 14:14 that made me think a cicada made it into my room. There goes 5 minutes of my Friday 😂
I love how they're setting up Sister Sage to potentially be the one who takes down Homelander. Even though I don't know much about the comics, I'm really liking this character. It's fitting because Black women in society are often positioned at the bottom of the power structure, but our true power lies in our ability to navigate a world filled with racism, misogyny, and other forms of oppression. We know our oppressors' every move because it's how we've survived and thrived.
I appreciate how this show leans into social commentary on racism. It goes over many folks' heads, but unless you have that experience, you can't see it happening within the show. It's similar to A-Train's character, who understands the deep racial undertones in what Homelander and Vought are doing. He knows it's wrong, but his success and identity are rooted in navigating these evils.
This show is complex and thought-provoking. @ScreenCrush, I would love for you to expand your perspective by bringing on some people of color, particularly African-Americans, to further explore these topics. You miss several Easter Eggs because of a lack of capacity to explore these topics. Happy to be a resource if needed! I love your videos.

38:09 Sage shoved it in her ear/nose to make herself temporarily dumb to enjoy dumb things in a thoughtless way. She purposely HomerCrayoned herself
Mostly, but that particular device goes in between the gap of your eyeball and your brain.
As soon as I heard what Firecracker told Sage, I immediately went back to record it because YEAH it is PERFECT!
If you look at the wranglers skills they’re all things from call of duty 😂
I love how a-train was in the start one of the most cruel member of the seven but he slowly developing to something good
From what I understood that tool on sage table in that scene with deep is a tool for lobotomy that she uses to make herself dumb or "get high" for sometime. Also she has some regeneration (U can find that in ep 1 when Ashley is showing homelander sage's biodata) so this is just temporary.
what impresses me the most about screencrush is just how fast they can get a video up and out with only a few short hours with which to do it. most creators take a minimum of a week, some much longer. but here we are, its friday 14th 2024 and not only do they comment on ONE episode, but all three. im not just amazed at what these people do, im in awe at what they do with such limited time. screencrush is my goto source for most of the shows and films i watch and they do a fantastic job of hitting the ground running. so well done all those who work behind the scenes so that Ryan can do his bit on front of the camera. keep up the great work............
True, but…TH-cam channels that gain large followings (like ScreenCrush, Heavy Spoilers, and New Rockstars) often get special early access to the first couple episodes of a new season, because the studios know that the channels’ analysis videos lead followers to watch the shows, and rapid turn-around analysis videos helps hype the new seasons.
As the season progresses, though, the analysis folks will have to wait for the new episode to drop just like the rest of us, so the commentary videos won’t appear until hours or days later.
In fact, with all due respect to Paul, just about every time it seems like Paul from Heavy Spoilers gets his video out first, which tends to be heavy on plot summary and light on analysis. Then Ryan from ScreenCrush within a day or two, with a much better blend of less summary, more Easter eggs/analysis. Erik from New Rockstars is almost always last to the game…and as a result their videos often contain the most Easter eggs and analysis. But (and you’ll notice occasionally Ryan and Paul making veiled remarks about it) while ScreenCrush and Heavy Spoilers ALWAYS credit other sources when they find a good Easter egg or analysis point, New Rockstars tends to profit from waiting until everyone else puts out their videos so they can include the stuff other people found…but they never seem to give anyone else credit.
@JamesBurnell so what you're saying is that rockstars wait til all the relevant videos are out and then just cherrypick the best? That's not creating, it's copying!
I didn't realise that the more popular commentators got to view the first releases ahead of others, but it makes sense. However, the screencrush videos, even if they are a few hours behind [heavy spoilers], their content is always top notch. It's impressive that they add people who comment on their other media and openly admit they missed whatever. And you don't have to wait to see the content either, at least if you call less than 24 hours too long? I mean, they went through all 4 (3 × the first 3 episodes) to find the relevant clips they needed.
I would be interested as to how much longer they have the episodes for before they go on general release, but it's still far better to have an in-depth analysis break down, because everyone misses stuff, and we're all like "oh yeah......" when Ryan, or whoever points it out to us. And then, if I don't understand something, these guys are here to help.
Anyway, thanks for replying, James, and for your insight into what goes on.

Everytime Sage undermines Homelander I tense up 😬. I know it's a matter of time before he rips her apart or lasers her 😅
Sage lobotomiezed herself. That's why all of a sudden, she was able to relate to The Deep. That's what that tool was.
But we know from her stat card that she has healing abilities. So eventually, she'll be back to normal. So she probably does it to cope with all the stress that comes along with highly intelligent.
Lol at the disclaimer.....definitely getting harder for some of yall folks to enjoy the show huh
Wonder if this random ass show will open some eyes about how small minded and hateful some people are being. Lmao
The number of people i know that Love and support Trump yet are completely unaware of the Homelander parallel and despise him in the show.
I think Sage is either plotting the downfall of Vought or Homelander specifically. When Homelander throws out the name Caesar in their first conversation Sage being the smartest person in the world and seemingly kinda smug about it could've mentioned how Caeasar died but chose to enthusiastically agree with Homelander when he relished in the idea of being a Caesar like figure. Maybe im overthinking it but i did find that odd though.
35:24 i think this is reference to mortal Kombat games specifically, because homelander is a dlc character in the newest mk game.
Thanks for the break down. One thing I hated was how the show runner said he would never kill an LGBTQ character on the show....like that's just poor story writing like why limit yourself when it comes to story. Also now I know any character that is LGBTQ will never die or be in danger
Ezekiel is definitely going to die this season and he's super gay (and hypocritical).
Appears in one of the trailers.
The shapeshifter guy was pretty LGBTQ.
Pretty sure the bloody poker in ep 3 is meant to suggest that someone has lobotomised Sage (maybe Sage herself)? Which would explain how she went from choosing to live in a room packed wall to wall with books and reading and listening to audiobooks at the same time, to watching trashy reality shows and Transformers 2 instead.
