People jump to conclusions..without considering that women my have had miscarriages...lost a baby..or could not have a baby..plus elderly women with dementia. Not to mention..that these are Collectors Dolls that are expensive.
Im new to collecting im 61 now and ive always loved dolls and couldnt wait to have my own. As it turned out i wasnt able to so easily. I only have 1 and was on bedrest almost entire pregnancy. Ive had many losses. Im so thankful to have stumbled upon these babies a year ago, and just recently bought my babies.❤❤ my family asks if im ok. My daughter isnt a fan, thank god my husband getz it and totally supports me!! Its fun to hear him explain to others what they are intended for!! 😊😅😅 im excited to be expecting another new baby girl❤❤ i have my eyes on a boy nexy. I think ill be done there. 😅 i did start collecting ahton drake 20 years ago and still have them!!

For me having reborn baby dolls is they make me happy. I have always loved dolls. I still own my original baby doll from childhood. My GP (general practitioner doctor in the NHS National Health Service in the UK) knows about my reborns. She asked for my permission to put about the dolls on my medical records.

I am so glad that you have had nothing but positive experiences with your reborns and mental health professionals. And I think it is an excellent idea to take them to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Dolls have been used with residents with dementia, and it really helps them all come out of their shells. Some of them think they’re real babies! I’ve listened to youtube videos of this, it’s funny. But it does help, especially if the resident was extremely caring during their younger years. You are not the only one who has encountered negative comments hthough. In my experience, if people hear about you still having a transitional love object, such as a duoll bought at a store or a stuffed animal, all fine. But if you start talking about reborrns, that’s not okay with them. My brother’s girl friend has talked negatively about reborns before, and it has made me hesitant to tell her I want to start collecting reborns.

It is nothing wrong with collecting them it the same when we was kids we collect things them I am collector of all toys and comics books and pennies and I love it
I can't speak to the reasons other people need these babies but we probably share the same reasons. My need is emotional since I haven't been able to watch children and babies any longer. My health can be questionable and I refuse to risk a baby's life to satisfy my own need. My dolls help somewhat but there's no feeling like holding a baby or child against your chest. Still the hollow feeling is excruciating. Thanks for sharing. Cherie
