My skirts are considered short at work (by one person) because of my butt even tho i wear XL. But i wear them with tights. I've seen an Asian girl wear leather shorts in the office. They always get a pass cuz of their shape and it's not fair. While i feel that if a short skirt is tasteful and you're wearing tights, it's fine, low plunging tops will never be appropriate.

The work place a lot of the time is just as bad or worse than high school jealousy, bullying, and just immature behavior and mentally. It’s sad and pathetic considering it’s adults.
@@yanabanana5086 Have you ever worked in or just been in a salon for longer than an hour? Some women continue the same jealous, catty behavior they learn in high school all throughout their life. It's not a fun environment to work in if your co-workers still act like they're 16.
She didn't dress appropriately for her job. She also yelled, amd swore at the women in the office. You can't blame them for not liking her. That shit wouldn't fly anywhere else. If she really did that, I'm amazed he hired her.
Eighties and even nineties corporate was a different world than it is now... There was an expectation that women exude masculine confidence (as well as be chill with being sexualized). While all of these issues still exist, it's absolutely not as bad as it was. Erin was doing the power moves essential to prosper in the corporate environment she was apart of. This was the wolf of wall street, apologies mean you're weak era. Definitely wouldn't, and shouldn't, fly today... But we've also regressed a bit when it comes to acceptance of self expression in the work place. Major home owner's association vibes. Personally, I don't see why we care if someone has cleavage or wears short skirts, if they're adults- particularly if they don't interact with the clientele...Just because I'm uncomfortable in my body doesn't mean others need to feel the same about theirs. There's always someone prettier, thinner, smarter. Forcing people to dim their light, makes for just as toxic of a work environment as one that's laissez-faire about it. ...Yelling at coworkers who won't do their job (particularly just to spite you) is inappropriate, but understandable. Particularly since she was actively trying to save lives, and was getting bricked walled because of sour grapes.
But he’s damn lucky that he did. Everyone who refused to hire her or fired her because of the way she dressed and acted missed out on an amazing person who stopped at nothing to get justice. I think people would do well to remember that looks can be deceiving, it’s actions that matter.
It's always about jealousy. It just so happened to _also_ be inappropriate attire this time. (Taking your word for it.) Although he was asking about them going out to lunch, not a conference room for a meeting. Name one office of women anywhere who wouldn't be jealous of her.
Men are too jealous and petty a lot more. They might not show it as openly as women. Have seen men do lot of petty little shit including backbiting on women ,then pretend to be their good friend. In office many people are aweful without any reason. Gender is not differentiating factor.
True, but in this case, she was just as wrong as they were. She was rude and nasty to them, and she was dressed inappropriately for an office job. Also, I'm not gonna do anybody else's job for them either..
Every effective, results-oriented woman that I have ever worked with has hated working with other women because those women too often didn't stay focused on the goals and instead wasted time and attention on petty garbage in the office. One such woman was younger and much prettier than all of the other women in a 55-person IT Department, and they all couldn't stand her even though she dressed appropriately - and she was the only woman in that entire department with an actual computer science degree.
The last client, the one with the girl who got cancer. They did get the money, but the dad blew the 2 million in bad real estate deals. Google it. I think financial literacy is something people should receive when they get over $1 million in a class action suit.
100%. Having your boobs and bra sticking out of your top is not "feminism", being rude to your coworkers is not feminism, talking back to your boss when he tries to make sure you dress appropriately at the office is not feminism. Unfortunately some people can't understand the difference between feminism and inappropriate sass. Feminism is about being treated as an equal and being given equal opportunity. If a man walked in a muscle shirt and plumbers crack and was rude and combative with other men in the office we wouldn't be celebrating that, we'd be saying wtf is wrong with him.

this story really happened. its not a question what we think about it, its about what happened for real. The film is portaying a single mother working herself up from secretary to partner in a law firm and saved lives with a memorable mega courtcase whos jurisdiction still changed america's history. There absolutely is something wrong with it if you're trying to wear your clubbing outfit to work. The women may shun her, but a lot of the men are also being made uncomfortable without feeling they can say anything. How's it going to look if she's bending over a desk to review papers with a lawyer, clearly exposing half her breasts to anyone that walks by, and his wife stops by the office to drop off his lunch? Alternately -: attractive woman who dresses provocatively feels uncomfortable with unwanted attention, and is loathe to admit the costume has a predictable effect on the audience. Offices have general standards for a reason.
Why is everyone moaning and groaning about the work attire? Like so? You’re calling her attire unprofessional but isn’t the other women’s BEHAVIOR unprofessional towards her? You don’t like the way someone is dressed so you ostracize them and are unwilling to help them out based on that? That type of behavior lacks integrity and reason. If they had been kind to her and welcoming, maybe she would have changed her tune and dressed in more traditional office clothing. People need to stop being so superficial and grow up.
Or maybe that woman has worked in that office for years trying to show her merit rather than her goodies and has been overlooked non stop by people who show their goodies. She’s not wrong. That’s not her job, and that was the others job. So now she wants to dress sexy and get others to do her work for her? Nah. As a woman, been there done that too many times. If she started showing some decency and professionalism who is willing to work hard then come here girl let’s work together.
@michaelsorensen7567 If your managers want everyone to dress a certain way they can just create proper written rules and communicatethem to you. Shame is not needed. Just saying "here's what is expected of you" is more than enough. Her boss didn't tell her dressing like she did was against the rules, he told her her coworkers personally don't like her because of the way she dresses.

Remembering this part of the movie Erin has three very young children and a single parent. So, she wore what she had in her closet because she needed a job. It’s much more exceptable to allow a woman some time to put a wardrobe together and give her a chance and win than to walk in like you’ve been working in a law firm all your life with stolen credentials and hooking for a wardrobe then applying for a job dressed to the nines unless of course you actually did. The attorney believed in her seeing her work ethic over time she ran circles around all the others before her, who dressed to the nines everyday. What do you think?

This is from a response I made for another comment, but I want to also put it here with a slight change: That’s so weird for there to be medical documents at a real estate office. What does that have to with homes and property? I really would like to know.
Because each home had people that were living in there that got sick, terribly sick, and it was all in the same neighborhood the people were getting sick and dying and Erin Brockovich came in and uncovered the fact that their homes were all sitting on an oil well and that's what made them all sick. And then she sued the oil company.
When I was 19 years old, I worked for Bank of America. I had a coworker who was tall and slim and 19 like me, all the other women complained about how she dressed. She did not dress provocatively, she actually dressed very conservative. But since they were all fat and obese and old, they complained about her. So, who was not tall and slim and pretty like her, I actually told them that they were just jealous. That they were just jealous because she was beautiful and tall and slim and young. That they should keep their noses out of her business and realize that youth and beautyon its own, was making them resentful against her. Since I was fat and frumpy, but 19, they were shocked that I would tell them that they were just jealous of her. They soon learned to keep their mouth shut. I am now 60 years old and I’m still friends with that girl that I defended. Her name is Myra, and I was always intrigued in the fact that she could wear anything and it looked amazing on her.
Exactly that's why she responded the way she did she knew it had nothing to do with what she was wearing but because she's attractive and had huge knockers the other women were jealous and probably noticed the men in the office checking her out
You might want to rethink those ties:)) Actually, the writers and directors (and of course, the actors) did a cool job playing verbal ping-pong between these two; it is very well in line with the narrative and spices it up
I loved her in this movie. She was the type of woman that was strong and didn’t gaf what others thought of her. If She spoke to them rudely its cuz of how they spoke to her and or looked at her. If you have actually watched the movie or know, the true story of Erin Brockovich, she was actually like this, and she actually did dress like this and she didn’t have a problem because she wasn’t working in traditional corporate America.
This was real life though… Erin Brockovich (I’m probably spelling it wrong) was a phenomenal woman who accomplished things a lot of people daydream about doing and the movie/this scene is portraying what she actually went through!!!

She isn't dressed appropriately for the office. Trust me I've had to learn this myself over the years because I dressed similar and now I know short skirts and low cut skirts are not appropriate office attire.
Because
She has never been to a real job before so..
Short skirts in the office is not appropriate either.
@@TrulyMademoizelleit depends on the skirt I wear skirts and tights a lot and I have a slim but hourglass figure so I am smaller but still have curves and if the skirt is to short I will def still get called out. It doesn’t matter if your slim, midsized or bigger if you have curves instead of a straighter figure your probs gonna get called out for it. It doesn’t have much to do with size rather than how ur proportions are.
In the end, She was not asking to the woman to do her job, she just needed an answer, a justification about the files.

Unfortunately it does happen in some workplaces and they do get away with it. Speaking from first hand experience as a victim of this behavior.

There absolutely is something wrong with it if you're trying to wear your clubbing outfit to work.

Exactly that's why she responded the way she did she knew it had nothing to do with what she was wearing but because she's attractive and had huge knockers the other women were jealous and probably noticed the men in the office checking her out
Great movie ❤
❤❤❤😂
You might want to rethink those ties:))
Actually, the writers and directors (and of course, the actors) did a cool job playing verbal ping-pong between these two; it is very well in line with the narrative and spices it up
I loved her in this movie. She was the type of woman that was strong and didn’t gaf what others thought of her. If She spoke to them rudely its cuz of how they spoke to her and or looked at her. She worked hard at her job and that’s what counts!! The person that i am… i wouldve loved her n hated all the other gals for hating her which wouldve made them hate me too. Ive been there. Always the outcast cuz while they huddled in their corner talking smack about the inappropriately dressed girl who was pretty, and who talked back, and i was telling them how cruel n rude they were for judging her. I worked with a group of girls who one time all laughed about one putting something in the pretty girls sandwich to make her sick. 🤬I was the only one that went off on them telling them how immature,n cruel they were , and from then on they were in the corner crap talking about me! Woman can be ridiculous. Theres always someone hotter or sexier than you. So what! and as for the wardrobe… its only an issue if you make it an issue. And sadly woman tend to make many trivial things into something serious. But ..Such a good movie!
Let’s be honest it doesn’t matter what she wore. The new pretty employee always gets treated like shit by the older middle aged women in corporate America. 😂
She was inappropriately dressed. The gals were shaddy tho.
Albert Finney. Wonderful British actor.
The office should have a dress code so that such inappropriate outfits are not allowed! Erin is wrong here
Regardless of how she dressed those women would have not included her because of her basic beauty. Pure jealousy 💯
I agree with that. She could've been wearing a turtleneck and they still would've acted snotty.
AMEN.....DEALT WITH IT FOREVER ....NEVER ENDS...
@@user-ei9tu8go4g she was rude to them from day one
I have quite literally never seen a pretty girl be treated badly primarily for being pretty. Not in school, not at work, nowhere. If she was ostracized, she did something. I don’t know where men come up with these things but it’s impressive. No proof, just an assumption. “Well they would have hated her anyways”
@@Firstofanyone I'm not trying to brag about myself....I'm 53 now, but when I was younger I was very pretty (according to others) and I can think of many times when a girl was jealous of me and treated me poorly .I'm a hairstylist- one day, many years ago, I was cutting this man's hair (like any other day) when his gf suddenly walks up and gets in my personal 3 feet of space. She stood far too close to me with her arms crossed and stared me down like I had just kissed him. My manager had to tell her where the chairs were so she would get away from me. I did nothing but cut his hair. Whatever was going on was her problem. The point is, I was treated poorly by a woman for doing my job bc she was jealous that I was cutting her boyfriend's hair. It was ridiculous.
Lol. That woman's response at the end !!!!! 😮 Cutting or WHAT !!!!! 👎👎
Unfortunately from her it didn't keep Erin from climbing to the top and actually getting the case set up to be won
Unfortunate for her because she's probably still sitting there as a receptionist while Erin is out in the world very well known and making a killer salary... Sometimes attitude is everything
@@grammystanley8736 I personally don't see being famous and rich as the 'TRUE' success . and there'a nothing wronf in being a reception imo . . Erin didn't just have attitude and i also think it was her many other qualities that drove her . . her attirude certainly did help her do what she had to do, though !!!!! 😁❤️🌟👌👌💪💪🤜🤛👍👍🙏
The colleague's response was completely unhelpful for a genuine query from someone relatively new to the company. Why *would* health records be kept in a real estate file? The answer led Erin to a 600+ person class action lawsuit and a $333m payout. What would've happened if she'd just forgotten about it like the colleague seemed to think was right?
@@FightingTorque411 Yep, I totally AGREE ;; Erin's CURIOSITY, QUESTIONING, TENACITY, MORAL CODE, STRENGTH, BIG HEART (to name a FEW) helped EVERYONE around her . . . like a 'BEACON OF *LIGHT* in the 'DARKNESS' !!!!!! 😶❤️🌟👌👌💪💪🤜🤛👍👍😇🙏
P.S. LIKE your 'TH-cam' name ! 😙👍👍
He was correct and told her the truth without being rude. There are dressing codes for a reason
I applaud the women who love and support other women, that celebrate them in all their feminine energy. I want women to feel beautiful, sexy, powerful and happy. I don’t see them as competition.
If they were to compete I want thoseI love to win and that wouldn’t stop me from winning too. We all win when we support each other. ❤
She thought dressing provocatively was appropriate in a business setting. 🙄
It's really not appropriate in any setting.
Unless she worked in a bar.
Hr was genuinely trying to help her get along with her coworkers and then her coworkers proved why he said what he said
To be fair women usually rebel because they are so oppressed by the society in visible and myriad invisible ways. The society stops the oppression, women don't feel the need to rebel.
Nothing about HR saying anything in the clip or the movie.
There's no obvious link between her outfit and her colleague's response to the query. Besides, she turned out right in choosing to pursue the query that the colleague would just have dismissed.
I was fired from 10 jobs in 10 years, one every year because I wore office attire in my office jobs and not sneakers khakis and a polo as if I was a man working IT or it was casual day everyday. I explained that in the NY tristate area, we were required to dress for administrative offices in a hospital settings..got tired of being fired and went back to school for medicine. It's really nice to see my old coworkers 😁.
"and as long as I still have one ass, instead of two..." 😆👏
I have seen the movie. It’s based on a real person. In the movie, and in reality, the woman dressed inappropriately (very provocatively) in the work environment.
I don’t care what she says, IT WAS INAPPROPRIATE TO DRESS THAT WAY in that specific work environment (it was a law firm).
Given it was a law firm, and NOT a strip club NOR a Hooters, it was wrong to dress that way.
Women who dress that way ARE INSECURE and ARE looking for attention, and validation from men in a s*xual way to make them feel good about themselves. THAT IS WHY THEY DRESS THAT WAY.
I have no problem with a woman who wants to dress that way IN HER PERSONAL LIFE. I say, if you got it flaunt it, ON YOUR OWN TIME.
BUT in a work environment, it’s totally unprofessional and inappropriate.
No ur uncomfortable w/ the clothes she wears, there is nothin wrong w/ it.
Yeah but if you dress like a ho, you can expect to be treated like one

This would have been a cameo scene but it actually completely backfired even tho she perfected her specific lines…her outfit is more inappropriate than the guys tie for the setting.
3/ resonated too… thank u for these reads!
She isn't appropriately dressed.
She is. Half of her boobies are exposed, short skirt. You can wear whatever you want in your free time, but work requires dress code.
it is a bit for work.
Hardly. She’s fine.
No, he's saying it's like the movie Malena. They're intimidated by how good she looks compared to them.
Even the real life Erin Brockovich didn't like how Julia Roberts was dressed in that movie.
I'm a straight woman who has seen plenty of women dress a bit on the sexy side... it does not bother me one bit. And I help colleagues who need my help because it feels good. I can tell the difference between someone who is hard working and needs help vs. someone who is just using me. I learned that right quick. All you women who want to dress in your style... go do it. Break those glass ceilings. Just like in the movie... that maybe some of you didn't watch or missed the point.
I love the comment "you might want
to re-think those ties" such an effective way to give the old "well, how do you like it?" DAMN.
This film is amazing!
