@Razu406 it's not gonna work that well in space. the reason why it can swim is because it can push against the water molecules. in space there are no molecules to push against (this is why there isn't any sound) so the thing would be just squirming around in one place in the middle of a vacuum. It would need rocket thrusters to space worthy.
The applications for this type of robot is beyond comprehension. Under Water submersible being one of them!!! make it bigger so it could fit people!!! Make...BILLIONS!!!!!
@checkzack A wire being flexed over and over in those motions could cause the wires to break inside the cables. This way you don't have that issue. And the advantage of not being wired together, repair of a section is very easy.
@urveen Like I said before, " I watched this video right after watching a video of a bowling machine...and my mind was kind of turned off to possible purposeful uses." I'm glad to hear that this is now being used for search and rescue.
@r3b3l1n Srsly? You can't think of any use for this? It's multi terrain, so any places too hostile for humans is open to it. To me it sounds like a self-monitoring search robot for earthquakes and maybe oil spills and nuclear war zones. If it's eventually shrunk enough, it can even investigate the human body through blood vessels. It can possibly be used for deep jungle explorations, prolonged monitoring of deep sea creatures, or as even as a mobile spy camera disguised as thin vine, I don't know
this reminds me of the arms that the sentinels had in matrix. is it really in our best interest to build technology that can potentially over power us in the future? name me one good use for this thing and i mean day to day useful.
@potterhead0227 think of it this way, robots aren't affected by underwater pressure, so hook this baby up to a camera, and have a remote control so you can steer it, and you'll be able to film parts of the ocean that are all but unknown as humans cannot go that deep. scientific progress.
@yojimbo1245 The potential for applications are almost limitless. Imagine using it to patrol underwater energy turbines and protect them from big fish or vessels. Or using them to scan incoming boats for bombs or other dangerous things. Or using them for underwater espionage.
@PonytailGirI So having a robot that can snake through collapsed buildings to find survivors is a waste of time and resources? Someone like you probably said the same thing about the combustion engine, the microprocessor and the laser.
Terminator type robots have been true for decades. Even here in Finland, Lapland near my village in Kemijärvi there is flying robots testing area. They are used to kill people in real life according to some source. Robots can be used for good also so the technological advancement is not all bad. Stereoscopic 3-D vision is very handy in ordinary home use and useful in cleaning robots etc.
@Girisgreencrazeiful It was the Japanese, and godzilla wasn't a robot. Mutation due to atomic radiation is how he got his powers. This has nothing to do with that.
@Spanky2k I watched this video right after watching a video of a bowling machine. That machine is a gigantic piece of equipment that can throw a strike nearly every shot... After seeing that, I watched this video and my mind was kind of turned off to possible purposeful uses. I suppose with a few modifications, this could be used in search and rescue.
It is available on the market ?
skynet begins, why are we helping the metal, they will destroy us all, long live john connor
11 years ago ? Did this robot get any upgrades since? Can ai learn to move it ?
like the one in terminator 3.. but less scary
nice! the best robot ever

It looks so cool, but what can you do with it? I mean what is the actual useful function?

@PonytailGirI I have met the inventor of this robot, and it is used for things like search and rescue, and pipeline inspection.
@checkzack

I would shit my pants if I found one of these in my pool while I was swimming
nice tech!~ saw this like 2 years ago on youtube !
I'm kind of impressed it has a swim bladder.
Can you guys sell these snakes you guys could make allot of money off them
うーむ、かなり高い完成度だ。
一番実用段階に近い気がする・・・。
TERMINATOR... Anyone else reminded by this?
OH REALLY!?!?
this is really cool
Simply amazing hats off to you guys, and I wish you best of luck.....
it seems like each joint having its own battery, motor, and controller would be a bad idea. Can't they just run a wire through the body?
Wonder how long until we fear these types of things.
I'm kind of impressed it seems to have a swim bladder.
buh is this alive or they move it with a control ?
Sweet, I want one
I really like robots.
@urveen Like I said before, " I watched this video right after watching a video of a bowling machine...and my mind was kind of turned off to possible purposeful uses." I'm glad to hear that this is now being used for search and rescue.
What would be interesting is, how much energy this robot needs.
Hey!!! Wasn't this in Terminator Salvation?
just add a powerful A.I. and these robots will dominate the world! AMAZING ROBOT
Wow that's impressive.
Looks like an awesome robot?
I'm pretty there was one of those in "Terminator Salvation."
where can i buy this
Wonder what kinda technology is possible in 2019
I think some people in japan did not watch matrix or terminator
That's how advanced japanese tech is, this thing was already in a museum haha...
amazed... in water moves like a livin thing
@MrZaka2400 give me 5 reasons why you think this is fake?

The universal joints , the joints , joints
How do you control it???
this reminds me of the arms that the sentinels had in matrix. is it really in our best interest to build technology that can potentially over power us in the future?
name me one good use for this thing and i mean day to day useful.
I want to sneak one into a public pool and film the reactions.
@darthtrabia I see your point. I never thought of it that way.
Maximum depth it can reach?
Where can i get one?????????????
@VlogKyle if u put a camera on it. Espionage?
This is the start of the terminator Hydrobot lol
pretty cool

super awesome fluid movement...
I WANT ONE
@Bigmac8r you mean cyberdine? Or skynet? haha
Is there much point in this...?
Japan has done it again
oooh! Imagine equipping those with weapons and using them to fight pirates in Somalia!
@yojimbo1245

Why does this exist again??
a smart under water explosive mine?
i can see this being useful in deep see diving if it had a camera and torch.
should i be scared?

@VlogKyle maybe the military could use it as some spy sort of thing..i dunno..there's gotta be a reason?
i heard it say "im a thnaaaaaake, a thnaaaaake, im a thkary thnaaaake"
i would like to see the chaos that thing would cause if u put it into a neighborhood pool.. XD
Prototype for Metal Godzilla!
the point of this is?
Impressive!!!
I want one now !!
I am Quite Amazed..
the point?
It's Morpheel!!
this thing in a swimming pool full of people
and you gonna freak the shit out of them
@phillosophy21still
What the hell does that have to do with this video? This is an engineering and robotics exercise.
Can anyone make marvel doctor octavius’s robot arms with this?
wow..quite amazing
@Spanky2k I watched this video right after watching a video of a bowling machine. That machine is a gigantic piece of equipment that can throw a strike nearly every shot... @FoeverDirt Your not hating on Asians are you? Or are you just saying that in humor.
omg were gunna have pokemon in no time
Wasn't that in Terminator Salvation?
@xBwahx No I mean CyberNet in this time period we get it full on
NO HOLDS BARRED
I love science and technology. Were at the point of playing God and its exciting.
OHH NOO!! THE MATRIX!!!! :O
wow thats amzing
This robot is old as Japan itself...
Steelix ftw
Epic pool toy is epic.
there is no way i would go anywhere near that thing in a pool
its like terminator salvation
wasn't this thing in terminator salvation
i hope this doesn't come shooting out of my toilet bowl like that snake did :p
ONYX! I choose you!!!
@Amjizzlle Well maybe your country did pull out the troops but im pretty sure that theres still a war going on down there..
Independent cpu's? That makes it kind of like a robot centipede.
Oh god.
coooooool man XO
Skynet grows stronger.
@Puni2 noo! onyx is super effective against water!
Go science go!
New Metal Gear Boss :D
