Totally agree. I visited quite a bit when I was in the Navy working with the UC and NZ Antarctica. I’d visit 3-4 times a year. Governors Bay was one of my favorite spots.
Great video I am new to Heathenry and have learned a lot from you. I started reading books on Runes then Viking Language. I never thought of the calendar year before living in Central New York it seems like it is made for here. I also have red hair and beard if we lived closer we could start a tribe. Lol….Take care my brother! Thank you!
Beautiful spot mate. Pagans in Australia have the same sort of issues. I just do my own thing, because as you said not enough pagans who are reliable. You did awesome to walk and talk as it was pretty steep, I would have been gassed😂. All the best mate, stay safe, stay strong.
Hello, I subscribed to your channel and the truth is, you are a great person with a lot of wisdom, I am very happy to hear someone who tells the reality about the Nordic peoples that are part of the original peoples of this planet, a culture and tradition and not a more fashion, I am Nordic for my father, Native American for my mother, unfortunately when they try to turn spirituality into a religion and that expands, it is very dangerous since you have no way to control people and it ends up being as in all religions, everything is deformed and already loses that essence. people begin to take spirituality in this case Nordic and add things to it, they start to mix nonsense things and begin to distort everything, it is something very sacred, a tradition and culture that has to rise one day and unite other native peoples, I have been in several pagan facebook groups and the truth came out of all of them, since most of them only get fanatical with this way of life, saying that blood does not matter and belittling everyone who truly has a Nordic ancestor, but that happens in the United States, South America and Spain. I understand that they have managed to transform spirituality with a purpose in iceland so as not to be persecuted or subjected to Christianity but it is dangerous when you give power to someone who does not know what to do with it and is not qualified to lead spiritual groups in other countries , and he does not take it with that sense of an original people or a way of life, a hug and move on, you have my support, I have good Maori brothers and sisters, because that is what we all native peoples are, a brotherhood each with its own traditions sharing and having the same goal to be guardians of this planet skal.
Very interesting to see heathenry from this perspective. Finding kindreds that meet regularly can be a hard task even in the US. It seems to me which I could be completely wrong that the UK has one of if not the most active heathenry in the world
Great video man. Its extremely difficult and iscolating to feel conected to a this relgion with no community. Ive had the same experiences of trying to meet others and having them turn away to do thier own thing. With such a similar culture to Scandinavia we have a real potential here to share this land with the gods and bring norse paganism back into the modern age. I think there must be people here wanting to join a proper community and I for one put my hand up.
Great video. I moved down to nelson from up north (welly/kapiti) I'm not familiar with the south island and travelling around yet but it would be great to catch up, even for a walk or tramp where we can do a blot or an offering during our travels. I met one pagan girl who's from america that lives up here in nelson. we've only met once but plan to make some trips into the bush for offerings/blots. It was great talking to her because, like you've said here, it's difficult in NZ. The majority of people don't commit. People in the northern hemishpere always say "just flip the holidays" in regards to celebrating yule and vaetinatr (can't spell that for shit but winter nights/halloween) but like you said it just feels stupid and wrong because the seasons are all up to fuck.
Very interesting video, with a nice view to go along with it. Seems here in New Zealand you're either a Christian, or secular / atheist / agnostic. I guess there is a scattering of Hindu, Muslim and Buddhist people here too, but the diversity of belief here is pretty limited overall. Even most Māori are either Christian or secular. Even though their traditions are venerated, I think I only know one personally that follows their traditional beliefs (nicest and most humble old guy you could ever meet, by the way). I can understand your frustration with not many people sharing your beliefs, and struggling to find a spiritual community. I was raised a Christian, but right now I sort of float and flux somewhere in between, on one hand, a sort of unaffiliated theism, and plain old deism on the other. Not sure what I would call that. Open-minded deism? Agnostic theism / skeptical theism? And yeh, having Christmas / Jul in summer just feels weird to me, as a kid I always wanted it to snow, lol!
