@thylacin1962 I agree they were extremely professional and very well coordinated. I just hope they were insured.... Which they probably were. Here's just some food for thought. What I was amazed and puzzled about.... With a totally accessable and open yard all the way around the house..., do you know how much it would have cost to repair that home once the inspectors get involved, if one of those large sections of trunk would have slipped the claw and crashed through the roof of that house! With all their professionalism, I will never understand why site managers take unnecessary risks, like swinging the logs directly over the house! Many of those sections that were cut had not a single branch sticking out of the trunk to catch on if it started to slip out of the claw. I understand the tree was leaning over the house, but the direction for the claw to move cuttings away should have been the shortest distance to the edge of the house. Drop them in the back yard and have a skid steer with forks transfer the logs to the front for loading. You know I'm not trying to beat on anyone because that was an extremely complicated and delicate tree removal, with many other factors involved like.... Tip over factor, and what's going to be inline with it, if it does tip while being cut, amongst other things. It was a great job overall. But just think about the damage and headache it would have caused if a log had slipped it's bark and dropped through that roof into that home. Oh my word and I sure hope there was no one allowed to be inside while you were doing it..... That would have been a real catastrophy had someone inside gotten killed from an accident. Or would it be considered negligence? You escaped Murphy's law this time... But will you let him keep following you from Job to job. That's the big question. Have a great day everyone! Remember: Safety Is Job One!

Nice work. That was a very precarious tree. Good for the homeowner but sometimes it's easier and safer for us if they would go on over. Only thing I would have been concerned about would have been the stem standing back up straight and hitting you when taking the tops. Glad it all went well and that's awesome of you to help out, I'm sure they are very thankful. We had one over by me (Sav. GA) last year. I spent several day out with my equipment cleaning and it looked like vultures swarming trying to make money off the people. And I'm talking house's flatten to the slab. I don't know how some people live with themselves and sleep at night.

Years ago I lived in a home with power lines running across the back of the property. There was a tree leaning over the power lines that looked like it was going to fall at any minute. So I called the power company to inform them about it. Their reply was if it started to fall give them a call and they'd deal with it. I kept visualizing the tree falling in such extreme slow motion that they could get there before it took out power to all the other homes nearby.

Pines have shallow roots. They are so lucky none fell on their house!!! Gotta watch how they get this down...risky!!! What a fancy piece of equipment!!! Wonder how much that cost him! I took care of my mother and her property till she died. She had an acre and a half full of trees like this. One ice storm in Michigan, I was awake all night listening to trees falling all over her property, bracing for one to hit the house. Luckily, none did but it looked like a war zone in the morning. So when I bought my house (first and only), I had 8 huge trees cut down and 8 limbs removed off a huge Maple on a neighbor's and my property line that grew over my power line and new fence I put in. I have zero trees on my property but huge Maples on neighboring yards. None that will fall on my house but whose leaves I have to clean up every fall!!

I don’t know about these particular trees, but I live in Amory and large pines this size are very common here. Throughout the whole region, really. My guess is that they were just immature during the time that logging was a big industry here, so they weren’t harvested, and grew to this size.

Be thankful that the trees roots were strong enough and kept the house safe too bad it had to come down

I an curious how liability works on something like this. That tree looks like it could go over on its own any time with or without you working on it. Do they sign a waiver before you start?

You guys in the US have some amazing equipment to deal with trees. Never seen anything like it in the UK. I wonder though why anyone would plant a tree so close to the house,(or build a house so close to a tree!) especially in a tornado zone given the fragility of the houses.

No climbing or machines were needed to drop this tree, they are amazing at dramaticly over pricing jobs.
