I LOVE this omg My dad lost a bit of weight and now has tons of oversized dress shirts w cool prints he won't wear any more and I love them gor oversized is my styleeee but I just wear them at home and I've always said the prints are sooo unique. Id love to make tops and dressed like this from them. One even is white and had cute line work of small fish on fishing lines on them and others habe tiny Palm trees. Theyre like v vintage. I can't sew yet so hopefully my mum will help me! !

I would suggest looking up a video for your exact sewing machine. Get to know it. Be able to thread the machine and needle. Be able to wind the bobbin and load it. Use material you already have Or thrift stores or can look up fabric stores for your area. Pick fabric before buying thread (I like it when the thread color is different sometimes.) Its your life baby, you can do whatever you want! Its not as hard as it seams ;)

Sewing machines can sew on buttons. It's way faster than by hand, but i can't say i'm a big fan. There is a special button foot: it has 2 short teeth? wide enough apart for many buttons. A transparent all purpose foot can also be used but it might not be friendly towards all buttons. 1.You first have to decide where the button has to go (mark the point somehow), 2. place the fabric in the machine with the mark under the presser foot. 3. place the button on top of the fabric, but under the foot 4. make sure the holes are left and right compared to the needle 5. choose a left-right stitch - it's usually one of the ones for the ends of a button hole 6. slowly use the wheel of the machine with your hand, back and forth, to see if the needle goes in the holes. If it doesn't, you might have to adjust the width of the stitch 7. once the width of the stitch is correct for the holes in the button, gently press the pedal for a few seconds. hope this helps!
I made this with a short sleeved 3XL men's workshirt. It turned out cute, but my hips weren't having it. Too fat to wear something I spent around 5 hrs on. I really think it's that I just didn't have enough fabric because the waist is fine, but then it's just really tight at the hips. So unless I lose 20 to 30 lbs, it'll be just "that thing I did one time" hanging in my closet. 😔 Good tutorial though. Wasn't your fault.
I know your comment was 10 months ago but if it somehow helps anyone else, you could try the "godot" technique (there's tutorials on yt) and it really helps to widen things it's easier than it looks and for a dress it's even more easier! 💕 hope you get to wear your dress
