After dropping a quarter on my body mass this last year, I started adjusting the clothes today beginning with the T-shirts - this is exactly what I needed and was easy to follow. No stopping me now ....
That's quite the transformation. After you altered it the shirt almost looks fitted, and I suppose it was really ☺️ thanks for sharing as always Sophie, looking forward to your next video
Thank you for this video. My SO has lost nearly 45lbs after being diagnosed with diabetes. Now all his 2&3X tshirts are tents on him. He likes his tshirts. Now I can resize them for him. :)
Thanks so much for the clear and easy tutorial! The unisex shirts for school events are always way too big and boxy for my daughter. I knew how to crop the bottom but this time the shoulders and sleeves needed a lot of help as well and I found your video. The end result looks great!
Hi! Great video :) Just one question: when you are marking the sleeves on the new shirt, are you leaving some room for seam allowance? I can't tell from the video if you are cutting directly where your well-fitted shirt sits on the new oversized shirt or leaving some room for the new sleeve seam
Thank you for the tutorial. I've recently lost some weight, and I have a bunch of tshirts that have gotten way too big, but they are favorites that I am not ready to part with yet!
If you end up altering necklines on men's shirts for women, please share. I need to do v- necks due to having such wide shoulders and would appreciate a tutorial on that. Great instructions 👍🏻
It looks like you added an seam allowance to the side of the shirt from the armpit down, but no seam allowance from the shoulder to armpit... is this correct?
Love your style, this vid is clear and easy to follow. Great explanations of process in the voice over! also your shirt looks great, can't wait to try this on my own
Best shoulder altering video I've seen. Thank you so much. I can now follow along with confidence. One thing though, I wasn't sure if you zigzagged or straight sewed for all areas. I'm guessing just straight. Could please clarify?
Its good to test the stretch of the new large tshirt matches the stretch of the old one yr using for the pattern. It will only be a good fit if the stretch amount is about the same. Louise, Australia 🦘
Wow 😮! Thank you for this very detailed guide ❤! I am now confident I can do this for my daughter's shirts 😊. If I need help I can easily find where in the video also 😀! Thanks again!
I follow your brothers channel from time to time and saw your channel along with it. unfortunately im male in my mid 20s so im not really interested in your content BUT it seems passionate and you got great talent. hopefully this comment helps your channel with the algorithm
I'm hoping you still monitor the comments on this video. I'm afraid I have encountered a snag. I cut off the arms of the 'too big' tshirt to discover the arm shapes are different and the 'too big' shirt arm hole cuts off below by an inch. That is the shirt that fits has a much smaller arm hole. I hope this makes sense. Any suggestions on what to do now?
Thanks for the great video! First time sewing guy here. What type of needle, stitch length and tension should I use? Total newbie, can someone weigh in and help this confused but determined gent? Thanks much!
You should use a stretch stitch needle (it has a colored ball on it) Also, set you machine to SS stretch stitch and the upper tension to a smaller stitch. Refer to your manual for setting your dials.
I was going to cut the shirt down with a similar sewing pattern but this seems easier. I've an old shirt to practice on first. Do you have a video on how to cut down leggings? My clothes were new when I got sick and lost all the weight. I'm successfully keeping it off. Besides, I love to sew. Just need some help and guidance as I've always sewn from scratch with no tailoring experience. Thank you for this excellent tutorial.
Does a website exist where you can choose the exact size of the sleeves, collar, etc. individually? Normally they just have small, medium or large. But I'm fussy, I want each part to be the exact size I like.
Is there a way to do this to just resize the sleeves/shoulder seam? Without cutting the whole shirt open etc.? The body itself fits me but the shoulder seam is too far down on my arm, and I wouldn't want to tear apart the whole shirt if you don't have to.
Do you ever have to sew the neckline smaller? I have a bunch of T-shirt’s I want to alter to smaller but I’m wondering if I need to alter the neck since I’m going from a 3x or 2x down to a large.
In viewing the completed sleeves, I noticed when you were sewing them that you weren't using a stretch stitch for the stretch material. Your sleeves look puckered. Otherwise, the t-shirt looks good on you.
That is a great, even better is that if you want a long T-shirt then a mans T-shirt works really well as women's T-shirts tend to be shorter. Might re-work a T-shirt but want to change the neck line as well.
I saw your recent video with your brother. It has a comment joking about what if you give him 100£ for sewing stuff since you were given 100£ for a PC. Welp… lol.
I successfully re-sized my hubby's workout shirts after he lost 30lbs. Thank you for the tutorial !
What a great accomplishment congrats to your husband!

Anyhow, time to raid Steve's wardrobe.
Very useful - I haven't been "supersized" so finding t-shirts my size has been difficult. Will be putting this to use on my XLs.
My school uniform is super big on me and this really helped!! Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
This is going to sound weird but your voice sounds JUST like the voice of the notepad from the first episode of don't hug me I'm scared!
Omg i was wondering why she sounded so familiar😭 ur so right
This was an amazingly informative tutorial. It looks so easy when you do it. Thank you.
You did a beautiful job. You're right! The clothing market does a better job on men's clothing than women's.

You have to leave a little room for SA or you won't be able to sew the sleeves back on. :)
I was wondering the same thing.
Not sure if you see these comments - but why didn’t you add seam allowance for the sleeves when you cut them?
So helpful! Thank you! I have a few work t-shirts I need to resize, I didn't realize how easy it is to do so. Great video!
Good video ! Hope your channel grows! Tell your brother hes awesome for promoting it !
Thank you!
Unfortunately my shirts need to go the opposite direction LOL
😳🤪🤣❤️😀
Great video! Thx for sharing this
Mine too.
Then perhaps the video you should have searched was, " basic exercise routine"?
this video was made by the lovely sister of one of my favorite TH-camrs LOL @@ifyouloveChristyouwillobeyhim
Thank you, this looks like exactly what I needed to find! I ordered some women's shirts, but it's like the sizing was for a baggy fit.
Thank you for this tutorial. I managed to downsize a party themed t shirt in no time around all Very happy 😊
Thank you for this! You explained the procedure so well. It's easy to understand and follow even for beginners.

Yes! I'd live to how to change a regular t-shirt neckline into a v-neck!💝
As a beginner, my t shirt turned out great with such good instructions from you!
Thank you for sharing. Followed your instructions which is clear. Shirt turns out well and fitting.
Just found this tutorial and I wanted to say thank you!! So clear and easy to follow!
Thank you sooooooo much for this video!!!!! I was able to NEATLY adjust an XL shirt to a small and it turned out beautifully.

Thank you! I used a zigzag stitch for the whole T-shirt 😊
@@SewnBySophie Muchas gracias Sophie!!! Es un tutorial fantástico para las que somos novatas 😊

That’s a good point! Thank you for reminding :)
Its so easy to do. I will do this to my crop shirt by only using manual sewing. Thank you Sophie.😍

Really nicely done video; thank you! It just worked perfectly for me.
Glad to hear!
Thanks girl! Love your tutorials!
thats it, i don't care if i'm a guy, i'm learning to sew
Good for you!
Not sure what being a guy has to do with it but okay
This video is exactly what I needed! Thank you for the great tutorial!
Hello. Did you not include seam allowance when tracing the sleeves? Thanks
I don't think there was seam allowance which might be the reason for why the sleeves had to be stretched so much while pinning.
@@recordtapesbackward She not only did not use a seam allowance but she didn't use a SS stretch stitch setting as well.
I think when she did the initial trace around the arm she did
@@katielove9932 What is a SS stitch?
Hey...this was extremely helpful. Big thanx from South Africa...
Oh my god yes. Exactly what I needed, now that the fad is to make t shirts into unflattering squares

thank you I've been doing this so wrong and it's so simple

What type of stitch would I use if hand sewing this?
Thanks for the video. Would be easier to see if the shirts were contrasting colors. ❤
Do you need to finish the seems with this fabric?
Awesome video. Thank you!
What if I want the sleeves to be baggy? Do I still have to cut them off?
Great video. Easy to learn.
Thank you for sharing this video
Very cool!
Quale punto ha usato per l orlo sotto? Zig Zag o cucitura con due aghi? Grazie mille
Great video
Thank you!
Thanks so much!! ❤
No jargon - thank you!
“Stretch the sleeve slightly”. How much is slightly ? Mine was extreme. Why did that happen 😢
As soon as the sleeve part start I lost it. The black t-shirt is too dark and therefore it was not clear which side is measured against which side
How do you prevent the puckering at the sleeve seams?
She didn't use a stretch stitch and a stretch stitch needle. Refer to your sewing manual for guidance.

Thank you
Thank you so much maam
When I do this with stretchy fabric after sewing my garment looks stretched out, How did you do it without stretching out the fabric?
You can do a stay stitch (straight stitch)
Some fabric are more prone to stretching out
Have you tried using the needles for stretch fabrics; they have a rounded tip and don't pull the fabric.
Thank you very much
came here from your brother's channel
amazing
Just a hint: use different colored shirts to make the difference easier to see.
you went from resizing tshirts to budgets
Followed the instructions, but my shirt came out too tight. :(
You might’ve needed to leave room for sewing!! Try to leave an inch or two bigger to sew
The only T shirts left were too big for me. Not too big anymore :D
