In this video - she shares her passion for re-purposing unwanted clothing, by taking you step-by-step through creating your own UPcycled garment.
Appropriate for all sewing levels.
Really enjoyed the video, and enjoyed your natural relaxed approach. Something I will be trying soon.
This looks like a fun project and I will definitely try it! Thanks for all of your tips.
I came back to your vid after many months because your design suits me well. Thank you!
Love hearing this!
I'm going to try this. You did a very good job showing and explaining how to make this top.
Thanks so much! Awesome - please do, and report back. Best wishes!
I liked your explanation, simple and to the point. I will attempt it and let you know how it turns out. Tfs☺️
Came out really cute
Excelente tutorial👍
Im going to try but can I suggest you put your camera closer to the fabric so we can see what is actually being sized and cut for those of us that are not so sew savy. I just took out all of my husbands old shirts lol wish me luck . Good tutorial thanks
Just out of curiosity, how'd it come out?
I’m going to use the sleeve to cut the vías from the same material
Love it!😍
Muito criativo ❤
When I've tried to do something similar with t shirts- I was leaving the arm hole intact. Is that why it was so baggy? I would have done better to create a new armhole entirely?
Loved your project.
Thanks so much! Yes - the armhole for a sleeved shirt (especially men’s) is much bigger... not to mention their shoulders are so much broader. I start with shirts as big as I can find them, (usually 2x, for a finished small women’s size) and cut a new armhole. Best of luck & thanks for watching!
Men rarely ware the girl color out! I look for them at second hand stores, almost new!
you did a great job. I'm only just starting to sew, so I hope this isn't a dumb question. Why doesn't that red/orange bias tape show on the finished shirt?
Thanks so much!
Not a dumb question at all - you don’t know until you know!
If you use a SINGLE FOLD bias tape, and sew right sides of the fabrics (and open edges) together, then when you wrap it around to secure the bias tape on the wrong side of the top, it will enclose the seam allowance inside the bias tape, with the seam (where the bias tape is sewn to the shirt fabric) acting as the visible edge.
I know it’s so confusing without a visual - hope that helps a little.
Peace!
Thanks for the video. Did you make the shirt you are wearing?
Yes I did - I keep meaning to make a tutorial for that upcycle as well, but haven’t gotten to it
@@sundaywest2617 yes please do a tutorial for the top you are wearing, I love it!
How could I cut and use the sleeve to make the cute sleeves on the shirt you are wearing.
This is a tutorial I have planned to make, but haven’t gotten around to
The video is great but the bias part is so confusing and unfortunately all we saw was your back while you we first sewing the bias tape. Please elaborate more on this matter, I already got the XXXL shirt and I can’t wait to work on this project. Thank you!!
Sorry for the slow reply! I was out of the country.
I’m apologize for the lack of clarity, it is pretty confusing until you are comfortable with how to use the bias tape.
Take out your package of single-fold bias tape, and turn it so that the wrong side (with the folds) is facing up. Open up the fold on the right (➡️) side. Align the open, raw edge of the bias tape with the raw edge of your armhole, on the right (correct) side of the fabric. Stitch it into place, along the fold line in the bias tape.
After you’ve done that, you’ll wrap the remainder of the bias tape around the seam you just made to the wrong side of the armhole (leaving the bias tape folded on the left side), and you’ll stitch it down on the wrong side of the shirt (inside of the armhole).
So... then the tape is only visible on the inside of the armhole.
I really hope that helps! I’ll try to improve my next tutorial. Best wishes -
So I looked see the rest of video. But it shows a young girl
I’ve only made one sewing tutorial video so far.
You are so sweet :)
Ah - thank you! I’ll try to post more, and make them more concise, soon!
