You sir have some of the best review videos ive seen. Very detailed. I was happy to see footage of the rear view at night as im looking to replace a front/rear mirror cam that has an advertised rear night vision cam(its virtually useless at night. I have a lifted truck with 2.5% rear tint so i installed a 10 inch led light bar under the truck to light up surroundings while in reverse. Even tho this light makes backing up in the dark much easier, it does nothing for the rear camera. So it was nice to see confirmation that theres some visibility to this rear camera. Thanks for the video. Also good in depth walkthrough on the touchscreen features

It's looks nice but there is one feature missing that I personally like. Picture in picture mode. I want full size back view with small front view at the corner.

Question mine is same one you have but will not let me swipe left to right up or down while camera is plugged in I stop recording but it only shows menu if I unplug camera and it was hooked up professionally. Asako sent me another one because first did same thing any ideas to why its won't access menu if camera is plugged in or swipe abilities won't work
They do not seem to make the backup camera cable long enough for a truck. Is it possible to splice in a section of wire to extend the cable length. Some offer a 23ft replacement cable which may still not be long enough.

Great video. I have the Akaso DL9. I noticed that video is missing from my SD card. For example trip to the dentist and trip back. The trip to the dentist is not on the SD card, but the trip back is. There is much older video on SD card going back 6 months and is not getting overwritten. Do you know why this happens?

My cam doesn't switch to reverse view when Reverse is engaged yet I do have it powered by the reverse light positive lead. Anyone have any suggestions? It's not critical but it would be nice. The colored reverse lines would be nice also. Thanks!

Thanks so much for this video, Very thorough. I had a question: I have purchased two different cameras similar to this in the past. One would loop the recordings after five minutes and the other one would just stop recording altogether after 43 minutes. I want a dash cam that records everything until the memory runs out. Does this camera do that? Cause it looked like when you were pulling up videos, the time length was only 3 minutes on them. Thanks in advance for your help with my questions.
As shown in the video, the loop recording can be set by the user for 1, 3, 5 minutes. ALL dashcams will do loop recoding meaning it records a series of video clips nonstop and continuously. Once the memory card is full, it will start overwriting the oldest file (not all the files at once, but overwrite starting with the oldest file). If you have an actual dashcam that stops after the card is full, then the dashcam is defective.

@@Frenchyk For what it is it's really good and convenient, but it has its quirks.
Pros: Great replacement for traditional mirror, bright modern screen, cool factor, 170° view angle when using the video as a rear view mirror, but can also work traditionally with the screen off.
Cons: no interconnectivity or cloud functionality, options and settings are not very robust. It's literally a Digital version of a rear view mirror and dash cam which gets the basic job done. But after doing research there are more advanced dash cams that I probably would've liked more.
But for what it is, it's nifty. Just takes some eye training.

How can open the battery compartment to change the battery?

You can't change it to 12hr format.
very throughout review. Question, should I mount the rearview camera above or below my license plate light? Would having a light there help the view or hurt it because of the night vision?
I suggest mount it above the license plate to give it a nicer factory look. The license plate light will have no difference in the camera performance.

I think the Acumen has a little better video recording for both day and night. I wouldn't focus too much on the GPS. It just gives you additional driving data (coordinates and speed). Both are very close but the Acumen has a little better video quality.

Quick question! I need to convince my girlfriend to have this applied to her car. She isn't convinced that I need to mount it on the number plate to have a good back up camera view. I can hardly believe that placing it behind the rear windshield that the back up camera can look down on the ground if it isn't connected on the numberplate. I can tell it worked for you, but a BMW 1 series 2017 has a bit more curved rear bumper. I suppose my question is if its equally as good to be placed behind the windshield or on top of the license plate.

Yes, the BMW X1 SUV has a more slanted back window, but you can still mount it on the top of the back window. The camera lens is a wide angle lens and will give you a good enough backup view. Unless you are using it to watch for a trailer hitch which requires a view directly behind the bumper, the view you get from behind the rear window will be fine as you are backing up. If you are up to installing it by the license plate, you can, but the difficulty in a proper install is more difficult (with all wires hidden). You can always try the window method first and see if that works for you, if it doesn't, then put it by the license.

I just purchased this Akaso 10 in dash cam on Amazon.They had a special deal, I got it for $79.99. I have a truck but I do not want to drill holes in my truck.. do you think I could put the rear camera in the back or would I have to put it on my license plate? Thanks
The rear camera is waterproof, so you can place it anywhere on the back that will give you a view that you want. If you don't want to drill holes, you can get some 3M double sided automotive tape and stick it somewhere on the back. Clean the surface well with rubbing alcohol before sticking it. 3M tape: amzn.to/35SIJ31

I had my Akaso dash cam installed today at a stereo shop. He did an excellent job. He wired it where I see no wires and he didn’t use the cigarette outlet. It looks like it was almost factory installed OEM. Very pleased with this camera and installation. Since there is no user manual with this dash cam...your video is very helpful. Also how do I get the split screen to display, still learning all the features on this camera. Thank you! 😊
Could you run a mini USB to USB type A cable to a regular cigarette lighter to USB adapter, instead of using the included mini USB to cigarette lighter power cord?

There is 2 wires.. One's a ground one's power..
How do you play video on computer?
Take the memory card out of the dashcam, and put it in a card reader on your computer. If you don't have a card reader, you can get one pretty cheap that plugs into a USB port. The computer will see the memory card as a drive and you can access all the recorded files. Play the files using VLC or any media player on your computer.
So... my question is what is the gravity sensor use for and the parking monitor ???

G-sensor will detect if your car has an impact (ex: car accident) and once it detects that impact, it will lock that video clip so it will not be overwritten. Parking mode can be enabled if you want dashcam to monitor for any impact when ignition is off (car parked), and if it detects impact, it will record a short video clip. Parking mode uses the internal battery to operate.

Mounting inside is a lot simpler to install. This camera is waterproof so you can install it inside our out. As long as you get a good view out to the back, you can install it that suits your need.

If your vehicle is hatchback, van or SUV inside would be the best for my opinion, you got benefit of well protected from outside elements, for sedans shape or similar you have to go outside install.

dial2fast is the window on your back hatch tinted? It appears like it is but I wanted to know how the camera would work with tinted windows.
Is it still recording when you turn off the LCD display? I live in Florida and basically EVERY DAY is a bright sunny day. I need to know it is recording if I turn off the LCD display.
It's always recording once you start your car up, and stop recording when you turn off the ignition.
@@dial2fast This is not completely true. I had an 02 avalanche and 1 of the 3 cigaret plugs was always hot even when the truck was turned off and the key pulled out. So in that kind of plug the cameras will always be recording.
@@rogerandjeanmeyer Unfortunately there are some older cars where the manufacturer design the cigarette lighter plug to be always on. If that is the case, you need to hardwire the power plug to an ignition fuse on the fuse box. Gotta love GM engineers :(

With the loop recording, it will record a series of 5 minute video clips until the memory card is full. So in total you will have MANY 5 min video clips which total hours of recordings. Once the card is full, then it will start overwriting the oldest file.

The real test for night mode is when vehicle are coming at you with the head lights on.
If bright headlight are behind you, all you see is a big bright spot on the display. This mirror is not auto-dimming.
