At the end of the video, I mentioned to don’t get caught up in the misinformation about the help not be given. I am not speaking to the people experiences that say they haven’t received help, but to political candidates that are using these hurricanes for whatever political gain they are trying to achieve. At the end of the day, I don’t care who you vote for but I do care about lies and misinformation because it hurts more than it helps during this time. For once, I wish the political machine would take a day off to really truly banned together to help the American people that have lost everything to Hurricane Helene and the ones that are about to be impacted by Milton. ❤💙

@@starrcarterfinance Thank you for this information it will help a lot of people in Florida. I don't need help I have $5,000 dollars and withdraw $1,400 from my savings account. I do live in Florida and only live 1 hour away from Tampa but I think the people who don't have any emergency savings are really the ones who need the help. I know some people who only have $5 but I have enough money. I am a changed woman and I have stopped asking people for help.
The mayor of Tampa has money because she's living in a mansion. At age 65 she should know that everyone doesn't have money just like every person doesn't have $5,000 dollars save up like me for an emergency fund and I am going to keep saving to reach my goal to $10,000 and maybe even $20,000 so I can start my own business and would not have to depend on Fema. Thank you ❤️
@@starrcarterfinance I certainly agree with you. You do need help. All the people in Florida need help and the help is not coming. My heart aches for all of you and I hope you get the help you need but if you need to evacuate, please do❤️
i hope people have left if they can because its getting to the point its too late.
Obama made it legal for the government to spread propaganda. look it up.
When I lived in Florida as a younger mom, I was dead poor. “Washing clothes in the bathtub” poor. But I kept $100 hidden for emergency evac. That was back in $.60 a gallon gas days.
I owed that to my children. They depended on me. I barely had a car to evac in. But I made sure we could get to S. Carolina family.
okay, good for you and I have $5,000 saved up. I have $4,000 in the bank and I withdraw $1,400.00 from my savings account but guess what $1,400 is not enough money to evaluate. If we were the people in Ukraine everyone would be helping us but no one cares about the people in Florida.
And that mayor talking about the people in Florida is stupid and if we stay here we will die. First of all she doesn't know what God's going to do. She cannot say who's going to die that's up to God not her.
now that is more than a paycheck. God Bless the Florida people and let the innocent survive❤
The bug-out fund. I was raised to believe that was just as important to have as the rent and the power bill.
Of course, no financial advice helps people in trouble NOW. It makes my stomach hurt thinking of how many people might never get a "We'll do it differently next time" moment because there is no next time for them. It's pitiable.
Living on home baked tea biscuits and bee hive corn syrup. Seen it in my time @ grandmas house at 1 time
I have this too however nowadays being poor isn't even an excuse. Grab some essentials from home and Uber offers free rides so have it take you to whichever emergency shelter is closest. 0 cost.
I live in an RV and Mobile Home Park. Most of us are senior citizens who live one check to another, some are on oxygen or have other medical issues.
I called our Mayor to see if we could get some help.
He made some calls and I received a call from our Police Chief Monroe who told me his Officers would come and transport any resident who wants to go to the Shelters. We are blessed to live in Polk County.

You need to think a little harder than that you’re about to get hit with the category five and have waves from 5 feet to 15 feet. This storm is about to tear up everything. May God be with you, but you need to evacuate the entire state. You need to get on a plane and go.
@@mariearmstrong9185 That’s how it's supposed to work. 👍🏾
After I helped my family during Hurricane Katrina, I learned to prepare for storms! It took them 14 hours to make a 5 hour trip to Northeast Louisiana. We sent them money to get here. We ended up separating 15 people into 5 houses and helping them start over. They never went back. I cried with them watching their neighborhood on Tv under water. It’s a BAD feeling knowing you’ve lost everything. Some of my family from New Orleans had never been out of town before.
I bought a generator and portable 4,000 watt charging station during the Black Friday sale. I ALWAYS put $400 in a savings envelope at tax time and try to add to it throughout the year. When hurricane season is over, I put half in my emergency fund and save for snow storms. Snow and ice storms aren’t that bad here if you are prepared. We were stuck 2 weeks and we were very comfortable. I drove a 2007 Chevy Malibu until 2 years ago just to save money. I knew if something happened and I needed to leave it was time for a better vehicle. I don’t even go on vacation during hurricane season 😂. I actually learned how to swim after Katrina 😂. Watching my family go through that traumatized me! If you live in areas prone to certain disasters, try to save so you can leave, especially if you have children!
I met some Katrina survivors in Panama City, FL, my hometown..These were the lucky ones, got left in I 10 BY A BUS. just stranded. these were teachers and doctors God Bless the people trying to survive. God help us all.
The shelters are free. No, they are not all full. Buses and ubers are free. Neighbors and churches will help. If it was my life, I would find a way.

Those are some mighty fine clothes, cars, nails, hair etc. if you live in a storm prone area, you need to have a bug out fund!! That’s more important than a trip to the nail salon!
And, you cannot wait until the last minute!! This ‘let’s wait and see’ attitude is what gets you killed.
I don’t mean to sound callous because I do understand how difficult it would be to evacuate. And, how scary this is. Part of the issue, I think, is that it’s a rare event so people are prone to overreact. I’m like the girl who got really scared when the weatherman was overcome by emotion. Let’s just pray that at the very least it decreases to a cat3!
You can afford to drive north and sleep in your car if it meant you would stay alive. There won’t be a bank account to worry about if that storm takes you, your home, your bank card, your town. Prayers for all in FL.
Exactly! I’d sleep in my car at a rest area if need be.

This is just plain scary. I think a lot of people don't really fully understand how bad this is actually going to be. I was talking to someone on Sunday and told them it was time to leave Sunday. By today, Tuesday it is too late. I think just getting out and sleeping in one's car on the side of the road is better than what it will be like to stay. I truly fear for the women with children, especially the one who said she would climb lnto the roof with her 4 kids. If Milton surges as expected it will be way above the roofs of homes. Now is the time to pray for folks who stay behind like never before!!!
I made it to Atlanta Monday night. I'm praying for everyone left behind. 🙏
I absolutely refuse to pray for these people who choose to stay behind. I know that sounds cold but they have made a decision to stay so be it. They do not have my sympathy! The ones I do sympathathize with are the elderly and disabled. Remember Katrina folks!

@Charles-yq8vv yes she needs to be SURE HER KIDS ARE OK...THERE WILL BE SHELTERS... OUT OF THE AREA EVEN SLEEP IN THE CAR. SAVE YOUR KIDS... TRAFFIC IS WAY DOWN NOW
There are shelters inland. No one wants to be sleeping on a cot with a bunch of strangers nearby, but is is better than spending your last few hours scared and hopeless.

And your children's lives!
@@patrickodonnell9388. You don't have no common sense.
I lived in Florida for twenty years. The gas runs out, and if you try and leave the state, many people run out of gas and get stranded on the side of the road somewhere, even worse off. Many poor people get some beer and dollar store candles and wait it out.
In Florida, those in mandatory evacuation zones can evacuate to higher ground to a shelter. If they have no vehicle, someone will pick them up. They don't want to go to the shelter. That's what they really mean.
Exactly!!
Some of these people arent considering the fact that even if they come out of this alive, the stores near by wont have food because they were cleared out days prior, gas stations still wont have gas because the trucks didnt refill them, they will shut off the town water and electricity will probably go out... and on top of that some of their jobs will probably be gone after the hurricane too... these people will still lose everything staying there even if they survive the weather they may not survive that long being hungry or dehydrated. If they werent prepared to leave town, then they were totally unprepared. Some of these people may actually die, not from the storm, but by starving.

Who doesn't want to evacuate too bad for them emergency personnel will not sacrifice their live for anyone who refuse to leave.
UBER is offering free rides to and from the shelters in the Floridian counties that are being evacuated.
I appreciate the mayor's honesty.
The first woman in her car saying she can’t afford to leave had about a 4 - $500 hairdo and seemed to be very well dressed. Perhaps some wiser financial decisions on a daily basis wouldn’t leave her so stuck. Again, I don’t know her, I’m just pointing out the obvious. I hope she and others that are planning to thug it out survive!
She can afford a car with a sunroof but she can't afford gas to drive north and sleep in her car
Judge not, and ye won't be judge. The well-dressed man can be a poor man.
She’s complaining about the economy but will still vote Kamala
@@sammyjr6989Your comment was SO UNNECESSARY
Wow, no wild assumptions being made here, all these judgements are based on really solid information. Amazing skill to look at someone's hair and know the cost of the hairdo like that. Never saw that before.
they had free evacuation shuttles running today out of tampa bay area. Not sure if they will still be running tomorrow.
Which is worse being called stupid or to be floating? Then to be more concerned you were called stupid is the epitome of stupidity.
There is a right way to convey a message that can be effective without being disruptive or cynical. As the mayor, an elected official, she could’ve choose her words better in that interview. I hope Tampa residents takes her remarks in consideration during her time for reelection if she runs.
@@starrcarterfinance Lol, they've conveyed the message in a respectful manner and people are still not listening. 😢
@@starrcarterfinanceshe may simply have no more patience with certain people in her area. You can’t fix or force people to look after themselves better than they do.
If you haven't left by now you are not getting out, it's that simple. Gas stations have already gone dry. It can take 3 hours to go 35 miles in current bumber to bumper traffic so you are more likely to be in a traffic jam when it hits leaving you in the open. You will be stuck in a devastation zone if your in the Tampa Bay Area. Storm surge will be high, especially if it's during high tide, less if it heads south more and it pushes water out of the Tampa bay into the gulf. If you're in Central Florida the 15 inches of rain on already saturated soil causing floods and possible tornados will be devastating . Rocky Mount N.C had an EF 3 during (tropical) storm Helen, it had 140 mph winds. Helene spawned 20 tornados. Milton will bisect the state as it goes Coast to coast. If it drops down to a Cat 3 that means sustained winds that could range from 111 to 127. If it stalls or lingers in an area it will be horrendous. Andrew came ashore 1n 1992 as a Cat 5 and wipped Homestead out. It was the costliest Hurricane in US history until it was surpassed by Hurricane Katrinia. It killed 65 people.
If you can't afford to evacuate then you can't afford to live in a hurricane prone area. Bottom line
There are shelters in each county that you can stay in for free
There are over a dozen Emergency shelters open in Tampa, and most of them still have room to accommodate people who've been advised to leave their homes.. THere are also resources to bring those with special needs to these shelters. Honestly, at some point personal responsibility needs to appear on people's radar screen -- especially if they have children to care for..
Go to nearest SHELTER if you can’t evacuate, ask for help to get you there.
Praying for all those impacted by Helene and for those in the path of Milton!
The opinion to stay or go will be settled on Friday...I can promise you, every opinion will be the same and unanimous...but to late...
Please find a way out of area...
I stayed for Cat 4 Harvey in Victoria,Texas. I was too sick to evacuate or prepare much. I have a kidney stone and the hospital was closed. My house was little but well made, but a tornado twisted limbs off my big pecan tree and the branch slammed into my roof. I survived no electricity or running water for two weeks. My neighbors helped me. What really helped u to survive the humidity and heat was a D battery fan that was powerful yet cheap. They were available on Amazon for 15 bucks and $ 20 of batteries kept me cool. I was 30 miles from water so I did not have to worry about surge, just flash flooding. I really feel for those who have difficulty leaving. If there was a fairly close inland shelter they could make an internet check in way ahead of a big hurricane. It would be easier. I have cats and would have them in cages in my car. If your home is in the 20 foot surge, I would leave. I keep my car filled with gas during hurricane season. Stsy safe ladies and be strong.
I hope they don't get stuck on the highway. God, please help them.
The mayor was speaking from a place of frustration. This is not her first rodeo and you could hear the fear in her tone.I hope these women have men in thier lives they can depend on
God bless the children.
Thank you so so much for helping ME understand. I honestly hadn’t dawned on me that the cost of gas food on the road for unknown time, MAYBEyou will find a hotel that they charge 3-5x more for rooms. I will pray for you all
There are free Ubers to free shelters with free water and safety. NO $$ Needed.
DeSantis also mentioned he’d make sure hotels aren’t price gouging during the hurricane (something like that)
There are free shelters and free rides to get there!
Stay in your car. No need for a hotel. Rent a U-Haul truck. We know when hurricane season comes every year. As an adult preparation is up to you.
At least they are offering shelters for those that are staying. 🙏🙏for all that are staying 10-15ft surge sounds very scary but some seem to think they will be ok
Hurricane María was a cat 4-5 here in Puerto Rico. It was pure devastation, especially in areas where there were wooden houses and tin roofs. The eastern part of the island, where the hurricane entered, is the poorest. 4000+ people died from all over because towns were isolated. No electricity and no water for a year. On top of that, help was scarce because of so much corruption in the government. On another note, house construction here is mostly done entirely in concrete. That's the difference with houses in the states. But even concrete structures suffered greatly. Schools become shelters here; all schools are in concrete. So, here in the Caribbean we have to prepare and ride it out. We are tiny islands and can't get out in a boat to go anywhere. My advice is to tie down your house, tape your windows or cover them with wood or whatever you have and get all the food and general supplies you need. You can gather bricks or blocks or even a grill to make your stove and cook your meals; you can use branches from trees or wood. Be safe and well. Here in Puerto Rico, believe me, many people are praying for you!
I'm speaking positivity into you Floridians. I'm from Houston and we go through this often and like y'all, most of us hunker down and tough it out. Like you said, it's easier said than done when they cause people to panic into leaving. You definitely have to contend with the gas shortage and the traffic. When you have a family and pets you tend to take your chances and try to figure out ways to be safe at home. I do think that cities that are affected by hurricanes and floods need to have evacuation centers that are are specific to zones or zip codes and those evacuation centers need to be high up in the air in the event that the flood waters are high.
I wish that Florida had a contraflow system like we had when I lived in Houston. When we had to leave for a hurricane, they would open up both sides (Northbound and Southbound) to all go north to get out of harm's way.
Four children and will not take the initiative to save them! Why doesn't she call one of her baby daddies to help her save his and her child(ren)? If the kids miraculously survive, the state needs to remove them from her claws. If it were to go get _crewed she would find a way.😠
@@pamgraham7867 that’s exactly what I was thinking!! Pray to God that her kids survive but the day after the storm is over, she needs to have her kids taken away!
I am just north of Tampa in Land O Lakes - we are quite inland and had flickering but didn’t lose power on the 27th. We had light flooding where we are. My family lives in the surrounding cities of Plant City, Lakeland, Tampa, & St Pete- but most of us didn’t have the issues that a lot of people have had. Last night I ran uber and dropped a couple that were visiting from the Caribbean who had just come off of their cruise and were told upon returning to their hotel in downtown Tampa that they needed to leave and go to a shelter. I ended up taking them to Orlando to take the train to Ft Lauderdale where I believe they had family - that 1.5 drive through normal cruddy traffic from TPA to ORL took 3.5 hrs to get out there through the droves of newly relocated folks or horribly affected from the last hurricane folks evacuating the state and that was with them opening up the left shoulder of the roads for folks to drive. BUT BUT BUT the IMPATIENT people thought it was a speeding lane which caused a few accidents. Folks moved to a peninsula along with everyone else that thought it was a good idea to turn their vacation spot into a permanent residence and now they can’t get out fast enough even though in FL it is completely clear that it is NOT a matter of IF with Hurricanes - it is WHEN. I feel sorry for folks; I do have empathy but that housing BOOM created an even bigger BOOM because our infrastructure was not prepared for all this growth… and now folks may be stuck on the only 2-4 exit state roads and highways out of Florida and may give out of gas on the way as they did a few years back with Irma. It was a mess then and it was an even bigger mess this time for all the exploding growth. Starr it’s a mess and I am praying that we stay alright this time around as well as the unexpected hits as Helene did with the Carolinas - hopefully it loses strength upon land fall and moves swiftly without lingering.
The Mayor of Tampa says to evacuate NOW
These people are clueless about life. This is very important for people who live on coastal areas and areas that prone to floods. Research dont wait for the last minute, Evacuate!!!
Native Floridian in Central Florida here
I appreciate your video and all the different takes and views from people.
We’re all in different situations economically and physically and financially. And by now we’ve made our decision on what is best for us and our families in this moment while taking everything into consideration. And that does not make us stupid or ignorant.
I’ve seen other videos such as this and those in comments always seem to have everything figured out. t’s so easy for them to tell people to go, to leave and to run. Telling people they’re stupid or they’ll die if they stay. Even telling them God is judging them and God is punishing them.
God is over Everything!
And what He wills Will be done.
And at this point their is Only ONE that can be done that can truly help any of us .. and that is Prayer!!
Opinions don’t matter and they don’t help.
But Prayer is Everything!
It is the Ultimate Gift of Love and Kindness for your fellow man when nothing else can be done.
So do that!
Then Be That when this passes!
God Bless you all!❤
And may He show His Goodness and Glory over Florida 🙏
I agree. That was a stupid thing for her to say. It's a privileged statement that shows she is out of touch with many people's realities.
Not if leaving is free or only the cost of travel. I'm sure the mayor isn't referring to the helpless, only the ones willfully staying. Homeless ppl with no money or transportation can complain, but the tik tockers wearing $200 wigs shooting videos in their cars complaining are pretty stupid
They talk about where they will live, but if they wanted to survive they would drive away and sleep in their cars until the storm passes or go to the closet flood shelter. if your life is on the line you have to make sacrifices of materials
Maybe stay in your car at a truck stop? I don't have a lot of money and I think this is what I would do. You can always go inside the truck stop.
@@youcanstickit This is called an unsurvivable hurricane 🌀 winds 170 to 200 mph a meteorologist starting crying just reporting how bad it will be!
Yes. If i was in this storm’s path and I couldn’t afford a hotel but had a car, I’d drive north and sleep in my car at a rest stop.
@youcanstickit That's if the rest stop isn't full of cars already or hopefully the hurricane doesn't spawn any tornadoes and take the car away. Where to then if that happens. I'm praying it doesn't happn for those who have this idea.
@bigmona2741 That's if the hurricane doesn't spawn any tornadoes and take the car away, yes it can happen during a hurricane.
@@italianred7 if you get far enough out of the way that's not going to happen.
You don't need money to evacuate. Shelters are free and free transportation is even being offered.
OMG, that bridge! That is terrifying. Look how calm the water is. I guess that’s where the saying comes from “the calm before the storm”. Prayers for everyone in Florida!
I've got to agree with you on this one Starr. There is a difference between the "I ain't afraid of no hurricane", mentality, and the "I've got nowhere to go and no money to get there situation". Look at Katrina. None of those folks wanted to stay there for that mess. No car. No money. No choices. No hope. I live in Florida. I live in Orlando. But if I lived in Tampa, I could afford to leave, and I would leave. I have a car. And I have a couple of dollars to weather the storm. But like that first lady said, I sure wouldn't want to spend all of the money relocating somewhere else.
@@micahgreene4573 Thank you so much for sharing your perspective ♥️
this is designed by the government just in time for elections. Cloud seeding has been old tech since 1940's adding dry ice makes it a stronger hurricane. The tech they have now is available to view on the US patent site. Katrina hit areas, Maui, NC, and now this-all were land grabs. NC sits on a huge lithium and quartz deposit. People are wiped out and they (blackrock) swoops in. The government spent the FEMA money on illegals they just announced and are broke. OUR money spent on illegals, nothing for you and me as Americans. I hope youre ok and everyone else. The government isn't helping you after the hurricane.🙏🏻Stay safe as much as you and everyone can.
Sometimes you have to say it as it is to get the message across. Your life is more important than things.
Please don't tell people not to listen to others who were not getting assistance. There were many videos of devastated humans that did not, and folks had to ban together to do the best they could. Your experience is YOURS!🙁
Oh and yeah it’s sooooo true about the can’t afford to evacuate like I said the state didn’t upgrade the infrastructure with the building growth so you still don’t have enough shelters to accommodate nor can many afford the basic things to get out. Not even referring to the home owners that were trying to rebuild their lives; you got renters who were barely making their rent (NOT living beyond your means luxury apartments but the slumlord’s version of an apartment) & having to visit food banks because they had to choose between utilities and food with “savings” being just a whisper & a dream. So all the folks saying to Evacuate- there’s no public relocation assistance to help those folks out to get out if the shelters are all full. It’s messed up.
PLEASE GO TO SHELTERS WITH YOUR PETS...
SHELTERS HAVE MORE RESOURCES, PROTECTIONS, AND BEING TOGETHER!!!
PLEASE BE SAFE!!!

Ome year in SC governor McMaster gave a certain amount of time and had all highways to the interstate leading away from SC. It seemed to be very organized and the traffic didnt appear to be bad at all. 👍
Our jobs expect us to work right up to the day it hits...my son is working tonight and off tomorrow, so he couldn't leave....and he drives an electric bike, he doesn't drive, like many other people. He can stay at my house, but we'll be fine. I'm just adding another scenario into the mix. Pray for us here in Florida!
I’m praying for you and your family ♥️🙏🏾
Well I guess your jobs are more important than your lives
I know people that left monday and are still in traffic now, haven’t even gotten out of Florida. Some of my people had flights out monday and they got canceled…... I can’t imagine what this is like for these people, this is horrible. I’m concerned for them. If the traffic doesn’t ease up the storm will come with thousands on the road 😢
There are so many perspectives, and I can understand it from their perspectives as well. I know what I would have done, however many are broke from the last hurricane. I think we all just need to pray for them. Our judgement won’t help them but our prayers can 💖
