I cannot thank you enough for how you have contributed to our country.
Without trying to sound cliché ... If I were the minister of culture, (or at least had enough money) I would invest entirely in you.
I know you left a lot of things to do on your Ecuador bucket list, but I bet you'll be back one day, so don't worry.
You, Sara and Ecuador made a perfect match.
I really hope that one day you will be able to communicate fluently in Spanish to get closer to (blend in with) the culture, history, politics and social background.
The Ecuadorian people are a treasure within a treasure, and I would venture to say that you didn't get as much out of that connection. (At least as much as I expected, obviously based on what I saw in your videos.)
Apart from everything said ... You are both exceptional people, in each video you make me wish to be your friend, but I know that it is something that many people easily relate to that feeling. Keep enjoying life the way you have been.
More than a fan, I feel like a friend that you may never know. At least now you can say that you have an Ecuadorian friend :).
Ryan, I am deeply aware of your creativity and intelligence, and of your ability to take any project as big and as far as you want, because you are a pioneer and visionary. Get more out of that blessings.
Finally, for nothing more than to give you more time to prepare your next creation ... I will finish this message.
But seriously, thank you. That is what I can invest in you with right now, I know you will use it wisely. Sara, I love your vibe, keep it up.
    Salud por Ecuador

Aww. What a sweet message. Thank you.
Ecuador has been amazing. The people I have made a connection with are all incredibly nice. I've had people go out of their way to help me so many times. Of course, the pandemic has been difficult here. It's been so frustrating to not have all the events and social outings that we would have without it. I think we will be back one day. I hope so.

I just got back from my Ecuador trip. Drove all around the country with my mountainbike. Cuenca to Cajas to Quito, Banos and Tena and Misahualli, Quito , Cotopaxi, and Galapagos, Santa Cruz, and Isabela. Amazing country and I loved the mountain biking and fresh food.

Just discovered this channel itchy feet! Great choice of places can't wait till i arrive in 2 months. You've eaten in a variety of savory food markets, food stalls, fresh side salads- how did you avoid food poisoning since expats are lectured to watch drinking or washing items in the local tap water? Thanks in advance for clarifying, Thumbs up

    • @itchyfeetonthecheap
      @itchyfeetonthecheap  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I've never had a problem. I wash things in the water and then eat them, brush my teeth with it, but I do filter the water before I drink it. Tourists have told me they got sick after eating raw vegetables, so I think because I haven't lived in North America for 7 years, my stomach has adjusted. When I go back to Canada and eat, I feel bloated and sluggish cause of the food. I think it's all what you're body is used to.
My Ecuadorian friend was told by a doctor to eat grilled intestines as a quick way to ready your stomach to the local bacteria. 🤷‍♂️

@@itchyfeetonthecheap Maybe in Ecuador, in some Venezuelan and Colombian's rivers piranhas can kill you FAST.

Can I ask you about hiring a car and driver to go from place to place? E.g., a roundtrip from Quito to Otavalo staying 2 nights in Otavalo? Do you know of car services that are reliable and reasonable in cost? Thanks!

There’s indigenous markets in Bolivia that are 10 times (if not more) the size of that plaza in Otavalo. Also how comes you struggle to pronounce all these places, even though you claim to have been living in Ecuador for 2 years?

I wonder what you can not do in the US that you can do in Ecuador. Hiking, canoeing, churches, beach, mountains, old cities, food. All can be done in the US. Of course the Galapagos islands is a different story. But hot humid weather of the rain forest unless you are a botanist, but other than that. I don't see why go there.

One of the issues I have with Ecuador is the Catholic religion inflitrating every aspect of people's lives. The lies these priest vocalize to the population is disgusting.
Another issue I have with Ecuador is the abysmal school system, specially in the rural areas. the 1% of the owners do not want an educated population and bribe government officials to eliminate quality education. Corruption in Ecuador is no different than that of Mexico, however, being a smaller country, the impact of official misconduct affects every living Ecuadorian. To obtain any type of document one has to bribe everyone. I used to work for a company that wanted to open a branch in Ecudaor in the Guayas province. The amount of bribes and whom they had to be paid, finally was the straw that my bosses decided to abandon the project. The project would have employed about 2,000 Ecuadorians with a living wage, yet the corrupt officials pracitcally derailed the program.
The last thing I want to write is please do not go to the Galapagos Island. Tourism has destroyed the ecology. Please do not go there, I know there are restrictions on how to behave in the Galapagos, and that is because tourist have destroyed the natural resources of the Galapagos.
