Yes, men, if you want a strong woman you have to be a strong man. And women, if you want a righteous man you have to be a righteous woman.

Fantastic reply: I dont like LOTS of things, but God says that's the way it is. It actually matters little whether we LIKE what John preached here...it's just how it is. We can come up with what WE like and how WE want things to be...but that doesn't mean it's right because it's not what we want but what God ordains.

If women can withstand childbirth, then they're pretty strong already. When men do nice things for women, it shouldn't be with the assumption that women are weak and can't help themselves. Most times, it isn't, but people misunderstand this often...

Piper focused a lot on man’s calling and responsibilities, but just said women should “respond.” I wish he elaborated more on what this means and what women’s calling is - what they are meant to reveal about God and add to the world. Provide and protect sound like such cool and honorable callings and “respond to leadership” just seems kinda bland, not glorious, and like women don’t get to add much to the picture. I don’t mean to be snarky, I’m just wrestling with my identity as a woman and trying to get a vision for God’s calling and instructions.

Identity as a woman? Best look elsewhere. In the way these folks interpret things women were a mere afterthought whose sole purpose in life is to serve men. They decide what a woman's identity is while claiming it's not them doing the defining but God because "it says so in the bible". No deeper thought or honest reflection on the subject. They cherry pick the scriptures that point to this worldview while ignoring others that would question its validity. Why? Because this narrative is a self serving one that puts them in charge and, despite all their rhetoric to the contrary, that's really all they care about. Lets not forget that originally Adam passed the buck and refused to take responsibility and women are now to follow the "God given" lead of men? What happens in most spheres (religious and not) is that men grab power for themselves and shove responsibility onto women. God's calling and instructions for women? Look how Jesus treated women (Mary and Martha is a fine example). In several cases Jesus' disciples were at odds with the way Jesus treated women yet these modern guys would rather follow what an apostle (mainly St Paul) says on the subject rather than look to Jesus Himself. That says everything you need to know about their motives.

I am wrestling as well, especially with the Word. I've suffered with this for 10 years and can't find anything in the bible that suggests worth of women, besides just 'responding' to reverence of man and his role. At this time, every sermon I see on genders, I am quite nervous before listening to it.

Spiritually speaking (gender aside), matriarchal wisdom can begin with a fundamental understanding of the cyclical nature of reality (God).
Represented by the snake in many creation myths, the living cycle has a trinity of a beginning (head), a middle and end (tail). As above so below, the sexes were created in the image of God's cyclical nature where Mother is the head and opening to all beginnings and Father holds the tail to all endings (through which the sowing of seeds allow for the next great matriarchal rebirth). The joining of the two (symbolized by the Ouroborus or the marriage ring) is the sacred union needed in assuring the creation and continuation of new life cycles. To speak of the present day God as "Our Father" is simply an admission to our collective positioning within the bigger cycle.
As all mothers have direct experience with the creator quality of birthing, so is the direct experience of rebirthing the divinity within (baptism) belong to that which is spiritually matriarchal. (John 3, verse 3-8).
Sekhmet statues (ancient Egyptian) carry most of their weight in symbolic memory of what was a mother culture dedicated to the direct experience of baptism. As the leg shaped hairlocks extend from maternal breasts to the womb of rebirth, the lioness's head proportions are such that they highlight the bust of a second animal figure. The Lioness's ears as eyes and eyes as nose (nostrils) brings to life the figure of a reptile. 'Neath the halo headress of the solar egg, the lioness's egg fertilization process being internal (Set) and the reptile's egg fertilization process being external (Setting), such being key components to the safety of entering the trans-egoic or "born again" state. The life threatening fear associated with the predatory nature of a lion and/or crocodile encounter are reflective of the intense ego death experience associated with the transpersonal awakening process.
In spiritually matriarchal times, illumination could be seen as wearing the false beard (ancient Egyptian funerary "ego" death mask) as the high state of cyclical self knowing; high awareness of both our upper matriarchal half and our lower (later) patriarchal half (compared with a mini lower body replica, an "as above so below" tail end beard extension); in full recognition of her civilizational Underworld, her inevitable cyclical destiny. The male pharaoh wears his beard tapered in reverse, indicating a pointing upwards towards the patriarchal head, divine representative of God's tail end cycle.
To carry the Ankh was perhaps to symbolically carry that upper and lower understanding. As the upper matriarchal womb symbolised the fertile birthing of civilization, below, the now Christian cross is carried to place emphasis on the lower (later) "End Times" Father principle of the great cycle.
Ganesha, the elephant headed Hindu diety, displays a cyclical head to trunk symbolism and points to the Mother head of his matriarchal elephant society.
A whole temple was dedicated to the ancient Egyptian goddess Hathor, who is the matriarchal "Uterus" personified. th-cam.com/video/J0m0zJSEFK0/w-d-xo.html
In the name of the Father, the Son and the holy ghosted... ? ... inevitability.

Didn't you see when I said it is not about physical strength? The weakest man can still be masculine if he is following in the essence of masculinity. Im pretty sure this argument is based on a warped view of what it means to be male and female. To look at masculinity I look at the perfect guy, obviously Jesus, if you are looking to discover femininity, I would suggest a Godly woman. I agree that women should not be all gushy and mushy, that's not womanly, that's just irritating

If Complimentarian (which is not a biblical word) were a true doctrine and means that males and females are equal but roles are defined , I would have to ask if the roles of the Complimentarian are Biblically based or Victorian era based?

    12. And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth).
    13. Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge) (and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman).
    14. Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators.
    15. After that, surely, you will die.
    16. Then (again), surely, you will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection. (q.s. 23 : 12-16)

God the Father and God the Mother.
    --------------------------------------------------------
Bible says we all have "Our Father" who is our God. (Matt 6:9). We are his children (2 Cor 6:18).
Now, can the children be born by the Father alone?
No. There has to be a mother as well. Yes, we DO have a God the Mother too. The Bible confirms it in :-
Gal 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.
    Here above means "Heaven."
    Jerusalem ???
How can she be our Mother and God?
Let's find out thru the Bible.
Rev 19:7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.
Here Lamb is Jesus (Jn 29:1). Since Revelation was written after Jesus' Ascension, this is 2nd coming Jesus. Then who is the bride? The Bible says :-
Rev 21:9-10 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God.
    Amen !
So Biblically, we DO have a God the Mother as well.

There is no God the mother, that is Jerusalem in rev. Jerusalem is his faithful bride, read the prophets of the old testament, read the language and imagery depicted.
There is no God the mother, please stop.
The bride is Christ's faithful whom he redeemed through the shedding of his blood
That is why in marriage, as an illustration of God's love, the man is called to love his wife as Christ loves his church, whom he died for

@@jsangeetsagar4971 Tell me, you who want to be under law, do you not listen to the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondwoman and one by the free woman. But the son by the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise. This is allegorically speaking, for these women are two covenants: one proceeding from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar. Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother.
      Galatians 4:21‭-‬26 NASB
You took this out of context, this was an allegory, clearly laid out in the preceeding verses, it is meant to illustrate the issue of the Galatian Church being bound again to the law of Moses that Christ freed them from.
This is meant to contrast the two lines of Hagar and Sarah, the bondwoman and the free woman, to further drive the point of the Galatian issue that Paul was addressing in the letter.
There is a use in arguing and reasoning with false doctrines, as there would be many false teachers and peddlers, we are told to persevere and contend for the truth, given and entrusted to the saints.
Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
      Jude 1:3‭-‬4 NASB
May the fear of the Lord and his truth drive you to his Son.
Do not be swayed by every wind of doctrine, there will come a time that people will not endure sound doctrine.
