    1. Pick a place and time and show up.
    2. Use the Bible and turn the Bible into prayer.
    3. Pray in concentric circles. Move from you, family, church,nations. Earth.

      @@bradcrampton8920 let me ask you a question... You refer to Christ as an "imaginary friend"... why is that? is it because you have never met Him? I am not being disrespectful but how can you make a statement like that? I have never met you but i trust that you are very real... as a matter of fact there are people that know you and love you and spend time with you even if i have never met you, i can say that you are not real but the evidence is seen in the lives of the people that you have affected... my point (and forgive me if i am making this confusing) is that you are making a statement about a God that i have met... not face to face or in a physical sense but He has changed my life and continues to do so... the evidence is often seen in those that do know HIM.... i must admit that there have been many times that i have failed to live my life like i know HIM, but even those times do not reduce His "realness". I hope that you may take some time to investigate HIM, not with predetermined ideas but an open mind as to His genuineness.... Again... this is not meant to start a war of words on a TH-cam stream but to share with you my personal relationship with HIM...my real Lord

    • @bradcrampton8920
      @bradcrampton8920 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@angiescott4601 I have investigated him quite thoroughly, having been a believer for over 15 years. I was in a state of mind similar to yours that you have at present. Suffice to say that over time, I recognized that it was false and abandoned the faith at some point. It didn't happen over night, in fact it was a process that took a few years.
      The similarities with the faith and an imaginary friend are as you stated:
      i have met... not face to face or in a physical sense
      That's a pretty good definition of an imaginary companion, it seems real and I can make it sort of real but it is not real. In fact it is so similar to the kind of friends that kids imagine - it's kind of eerie that a grown up can do this also. (Is that why jesus admonishes to become as little children?) His messages come through feelings and dreams with no direct contact. Sounds a little suspicious. Another interesting similarity is that he answers prayers about as reliably as a flip of the coin.
      My main conclusion is summarized as follows:
      I think most believers don't much understand the power of imagination. One can enhance their mood just by picturing someone they love in their mind. Happiness can be increased by being grateful. Forgiving and feeling forgiven can lighten the load when feeling down. All these techniques are valid psychological tools that do not require any belief system of gods and goblins. Religion has capitalized on believers by providing a supernatural explanation to those who lack the knowledge of imagination.

      Gerri Stratton I think people have lost their way. They don’t take God’s word literally when he says we will be with him in heaven for eternity. More people need to be taught to treasure up the joy we will have in the next life, like Jesus did when he was in despair before the crucifixion, how he picked himself up with the promise God made. Just wanted to share lol.

    11:59 and the "it's your fault" part right that the end really struck me. I have wandered away and been brought back to repentance so many times I can't even count them. And it seems that every time I wander further I just wait for God to do something, to bring me back to my knees. He is faithful and always does, but I know I live an undisciplined Christian life. Every time God brings me back to repentance, I run with strength for a while, and then I quickly grow weary and give up time and time again. God has given me new life, and my laziness is not His fault. My lack of planning is not His fault. My refusal to listen to the conviction of the Spirit and repent is not His fault. I should be bearing fruit and have a responsibility to do so. Not that it will save me, but as a natural part of my new life in Christ. I am thankful for God's grace and mercy through all of my trespasses and wicked willful sinning against him. I am thankful for Christ's sacrifice on my behalf for my sins. God bless all of you as we continue to grow in Christ and bear fruit in His name.

    It’s vitally important to keep consistent in prayer, faithful in attending Church, persistence in serving, willing to give. It may seem like “legalism” but these are the things that keeps us strong, healthy and protected. It also reflects a Godly order of things. Remember the enemy operates in chaos. Don’t stop.

  • @AP-Design
    @AP-Design 5 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    "Sleep every night? For goodness sake, mix it up!"
    Haha I laughed at that one. It's true, in today's culture that encourages the loosening of boundaries and rules in order to reinforce a feeling of personal freedom, it becomes easy to conflate healthy routines that facilitate obedience to Christ with legalism. So often, it is that any form of spiritual structure must mean we are experiencing bondage from being our true selves, when it can actually help us avoid that which will surely destroy us whenever we are feeling particularly rebellious or curious about the world surrounding us. Freedom with no aim only leads us to aim at everything and be sure about nothing. Yet, freely choosing biblically-sound ways to narrow our focus on Him and avoid the noise helps us see Christ more clearly, and, in return, how he reveals his vision of the real us. This issue is truly a pivotal temptation of our times.

Although I spend considerable time in prayer now, God still points to my weaknesses when it comes to praying properly. I have learned a great deal about Him and myself over time that I'm not sure I could have learned any other way except by prayer. 💯 I _initially_ try to pray _before_ I even open my eyes in the morning, _before_ any thoughts on the day _rush to the front of mind_ & try to take a position of most importance, _before_ I'm tempted to think _I'm strong enough_ to go throughout my day _in my own strength_ without His empowering grace, _before_ I'm tempted to think _I'm clever enough_ to solve all the problems of the day _and the problems of tomorrow_ without His wise counsel & Divine guidance, _before_ I'm tempted to think that _yesterday's manna is enough_ to nourish & sustain me without gathering & feeding on my _Daily Bread_ today, _before_ I conclude _I don't have enough time_ to bother with consulting Him & receiving all I need for the day in front of me, instead of realizing the more that lies before me, _the more time I need to spend in prayer_ 🙏🏼

      Get a grip you weak excuse for a human being. Listen to yourself, there's no little voice there listening to you.If god was real, he'd reveal himself to EVERYONE at the same time put it to rest... Simple. Yes i know he moves in mysterious ways, but he could nip in on a Sunday after church eh...

    The video information is very good and on point big-time. I quit watching John Piper much because of sudden eruption of voice which startles me so much, it's unnerving. He seems to have moments of rage then suddenly calm. Yowzers!

    WowI I have watched so many different teachers of the Word over the last 40 years and I stumbled across John piper tonight and his messages including this powerful one on prayer. ... and wow has blown away in a good way! I believe that he is really anointed thank you God for him and his ministry!!! It’s also my personal opinion that the Lord has really amplified his body language, passion and presentation in a divine way as I could not turn him off & Super convicted in a good way to pursue prayer and talking to God more! I love the directness, simplicity and practicality of his profound bible-based teachings! 🤩✨🙏

    Yes some Christians think it is legalistic to pray. It’s gotten so bad, to the point where Christians think it’s legalistic for preachers to tell them what they’re doing wrong. They are the preachers. If your doing something wrong it’s their responsibility to tell you.

      For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

      Hang on... Wasn't it god who silently impregnated a 14 yr old girl in the middle of the night ?
      Not done it again....
      You tell that story today and folk'll say... Mary = Chav Slag. Joseph = Mug. Jesus = illegitimate offspring.
      Come on... Really... Grow up.
