"this exact riff" clickbait title, beside using pedal point most of these riffs are clearly different, I would never confuse one for the other, you can't believe they are the same lol
I remember years ago coming across a cover of Doomsday Zone, from Sonic & Knuckles, and towards the end they randomly go into Electric Eye. Why...? Who cares, its awesome!
I still have yet to learn that MCR riff. When I was younger, that album was a huge guilty pleasure as a metalhead, and I never expected to hear a riff that technical on it.
Rebirth of the temple by silent civilian, embrace the gutter by the autumn offering and a million others. There’s a mix on Spotify called 5-7-8 riff and they all slap
Deathamphetamine - Exodus Adjusting the sun - Hypocrisy probably the two most original versions of that riff, i mean Exodus doesn't really sound similar, but it also does.
Maybe not most used but check out apes of wrath by gwar then check out human sacrifice by vengeance rising. Like, somebody straight up stole something.
They are different riffs but utilize the same technique and pattern of riffing. Alternating notes on the higher parts on the fretboard with the low E string.
I just want to confirm that everyone realizes these aren’t actually the same riff, right? The underlying chord changes are similar, but they’d literally have to have the same sequence of notes and syncopation to be the same riff and would sound/be identical. And that’s not the case. Cool clickbait I guess?
I know there's waaay more songs that use this exact riff, so mention them here.

The poison, Rose of Sharyn and Like light to the flies are amazing
Yep! My teen years!
The Eagle Flies Alone by Arch Enemy is literally the Dismember riff.
I was thinking that exact same thing lol
Mind blown
Wuuut da heeeeelll
Mike Amott is essentially writing in circles at this point.
Was about to say that lol
Electric Eye is an absolute banger tho
Of course
I remember years ago coming across a cover of Doomsday Zone, from Sonic & Knuckles, and towards the end they randomly go into Electric Eye. Why...? Who cares, its awesome!
I love the poison's use of this. I mainly just love that song so much but Matt singing over that specific part is so good
A metal TH-cam channel covering MCR? I knew it had to be thank you for the venom
Well yeah, I love MCR
This is not MCR this is MDM with breakdown. @@jojoplaysmusic
Glad that Dismember is included here. More ppl need to listen to them
That “the poison" riff is one of My favorite guitar seccions ever
I'll be honest I don't think these sound that similar at all but I love all of them
TBDM riff had me checking if the video speed was actually at 1 because I thought that shit was sped up. Super tight man
Spirit crusher by Death has a part where it sounds super similar to all of these songs
Yep, it's in part 1
Damn it you beat me to it
@jojoplaysmusic not suprised you already new abt it :)
I still have yet to learn that MCR riff. When I was younger, that album was a huge guilty pleasure as a metalhead, and I never expected to hear a riff that technical on it.
I haven't even watched the whole video and I know you're talking about Thank You For The Venom lol
TBDM - Closed Casket Requiem best version of this riff
Word
it goes so unbelievably hard

Love and thumbs up for Intestine Baalism 👍🤌
OUR BOY FINALLY DID IT 🤧 🥲
@@IrlylikeInFlameswasn’t expecting to see them at all. Super happy
Intestine Baalism to the masses!! IMO the only band, which albums can be compared to Crimson (from melodeath obviously)
The way you played that MCR riff made it sound like it came from a power metal band lol
The first riff of Judas priest made me remember the song Evolve - The Warning (band of three sisters from MX)
and cradle of filth/sisters of mercy no time to cry
Waiting for In Dying Days by As blood runs black (or pretty much anything off their album allegiance)
Leaders are hard to come by🗣️🔥
MCR introduced me to this riff
It’s a shame I won’t be able to see the video live, but I’ll surely watch it soon. You’re an excellent guitarist, I enjoy your content
No worries! Thank you so much!
so many bangers in this one gotdamn
Wow intestine baalism no one ever mentions them well done
They had to be included
Beloved Horrifier by Revocation is also very similar to Electric Eye
Crawl through knives by in flames is a good one

Veil of maya - It's torn away - 3:53 also has this RIFF
I was expecting that 5-7-8 lol
Well techincally is transposed, its in the VII position, so its 7 - 9 - 10
Thanks Sir. Thanks to you I Discovered fascinating music
My pleasure :)
What I learned is that I need to write a song with this riff because it absolutely slays
Funny fact: Machine Head's riff here sounds just like one Cradle of Filth riff - but I forgot the song.
I think I can hear that
u can add blood of the scribe from lamb of god to this giant list
Yes you can
Magnolia Éclair - Guilty Gear Xrd
Futureal by Iron Maiden also uses this riff
Omg wasn’t expecting to see intestine baalism in here! Such an incredibly underrated band holy shit
Funny enough Machine Head's song Imperium has this riff as well but closer to the classic metalacore riff about 4 or 5 minutes into the song.
A7x Unholy Confessions
That's in part 1, this video is part 2
Deathamphetamine - Exodus Adjusting the sun - Hypocrisy
probably the two most original versions of that riff, i mean Exodus doesn't really sound similar, but it also does.
This is also ‘sorry you’re not a winner’ by enter shikari
Another electric eye sounding riff is fields of Verdun by sabaton
Dismember - Collection by Blood also has one of these
Newer bands like Boundaries and Dying Wish also use these kinds of classic 578 riffs
This riff haunts my nightmares
Just Another Star by Bullet for my Valentine also belongs in here
Enter Shikari "Sorry, You're Not A Winner" ?
Sounds like you try to rap rap god on the outro
I might've
I made a whole playlist on an old youtube account with a lot of different songs that use this riff lol.
testament - over the wall is another one
Abnegation - Verses of the Bleeding (1997)
All these songs are right in that “pocket”
Subscribed!
I think When Midnight Breaks from Himsa is an overused riff from 21st century of metalcore music (especially from 2005).
Part 3 - Two minutes to mignight riff
Tu es fantastico como siempre
Hell yea! No need to fix something that’s not broken lol
Exactly lol
Maybe not most used but check out apes of wrath by gwar then check out human sacrifice by vengeance rising. Like, somebody straight up stole something.
Dude can you do a video on some tones, i have otto audio and i love it but im still struggling to make it sound as good as possible for recording
I came here for Judas Priest, but stayed for Dismember and Intestine Baalism.
Intestine Baalism mentioned 🗣️
JP still did it best.
But you can hardly fail with it.
Asi es carnalito! Hahah 0,3,5,7,9,11,12.. greatest metalcores from 2000s ! Wheres the haunted?? OLA
I thought about including Trespass, but I was running late with it.
Intestine Baslism 🤘🏻🤘🏻

black dahlia murder is the best band
