What are the best bands from the subgenres I missed? (for a part 2)
visual kei!!!
for me it would be dir en grey and the gazette
Bell witch for Funeral doom metal
Krisiun for Death Metal
Funk metal - Red Hot Chili Peppers or Faith No More
Crossover - Carnivore or D.R.I.
Hardcore - Agnostic Front or Cro-Mags
Groove metal - Pantera or Machine Head (early)
Funeral metal - Wormphlegm (!)
Grunge - Alice In Chains or Soundgarden
Drone - Khanate or Earth (early)
Stoner rock - Bongzilla or Corrosion Of Conformity
Deathgrind - Cephalic Carnage or Cattle Decapitation
-----------------------------
IMHO!
Goregrind - Exhumed, impaled
Brutal death metal - devourment
In the words of the wise Devin Townsend: "We all rip off Meshuggah"
Dude disengage by suicide silence is like the best deathcore song of all time you hit the nail on the head with that one
That intro is just straight up iconic
When i hear the first two chugs of that intro i start making a mosh pit in my house, what a song
Man, I knew immediately which song is the black metal one just by the drums lol.
you're a real one
Dying Fetus are another death metal band who've been releasing top quality stuff for the past 30 years. Reign Supreme is their best 🤘
FACTS
Stop at nothing tho
@@brandonleyba7565 every album is go(o)d
Reign supreme its so not their best. Its an ok album, but you should really pay more atention to every realease prior to 2005. Just pure insane deathgrind, it was way more raw. Their latest realeases are ok but just re-using the classic formula that made them famous.
id have to go with death or necrophagist for death metal
thrash metal: *plays one of the most death metal riffs of slayer* hahah i love you
Hehehe
Jeje
Bark at the Moon really was way ahead of its time 🤘
Truly, so increasingly catchy.
Lorna Shore for Blackened Deathcore and Invent Animate for Prog Metalcore!
just getting into invent animate. theyre fuking insane so i 100% agree
Cook
sorry gonna go with loathe on a side of a prog metalcore
todays lorna is more symphonic deathcore
Unprocessed for prog metalcore
I love your videos man and the chaotic poster made me an even bigger fan of you now. I love and still love Chaotic
And that poster is also signed hehe. Chaotic is what got me into TCGs.
playing Cannibal Corpse on hollow body is crazy. and it sounds great!
It’s my D# standard guitar, so I was like “why not?” Hehe
CONVERGE
very nice!
you have a lot of potential and you are a very good guitarist!
Thank you! :)
I would have picked acid bath for sludge, but ither than that you were spot on as always
That Korn part had me dying 😂 I appreciate that Magic Deck you got behind you there haha
It’s my unfinished Strephan deck
I dig those tones from that amp sim 😎Great vid man
Only the best and thickest tones here 😼
My list would be heavy metal Ozzy followed by Malmsteen, Progressive metal Symphony X, Power metal Galneryus also love Versailles/Jupiter, Angra and Stratovarius, Glam Metal Extreme, Doom Metal Candle mass, Black Metal Watain or Emporer, Slam Peeling Flesh, Thrash Metallica, Megadeth or Kreator, old-school and progressive death metal Death, Modern Cannibal Corpse, Melodic Death metal Children of Bodom, Technical Death Metal Archspire or Necrophagist, Metal Core Ice Nine Kills and Protest the Hero, Deathcore Suicide Silence then Infant Annihilator
Versailles is on my top 10 favorite bands of all time
@@jojoplaysmusic Versailles and Galneryus were the bands that got me into wanting to play guitar along with Ozzy because of Randy Rhoads playing so inspiring, whenever I hear a song by them I want to immediately pickup the guitar and learn more
Nice seeing Crowbar for sludge and Rammstein for industrial. if you did hardcore I would of put Merauder.
Definitely NYHC for Merauder
Bro really played thall on a telecaster 👀☠. I love you man, you're the best
I was just waiting for the Melodic to be KsE. 🔥
of course!
Devourment - slam
pantera - groove (super obvious)
I just got into beatdown hardcore so idk what band, but I wanna see you play it
Gotta be sunami 🔥
Oh for beatdown, definitely something classic like Cold As Life or Neglect. Best modern bands would be God's Hate or Pain Of Truth
I wouldve gone "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" or "Mourning Palace" by Dimmu - but your choice is valid lmao
Definitely the best at the symphonic side
bro got a telecaster to play meshuggah ☠️
First one of these I think I agree with all the picks? Great job
Can you do Mutiilation/Dodsferd/Inquisition riff journeys? Whichever you're most familiar with
Tech Death is Necrophagist, ik that's the basic choice but it is for a reason. And if you include Modern Metalcore, Spiritbox is definitely #1 there. Melodeath imo is probably Soilwork, too.
I also have no clue what to classify Cattle Decapitation as, but whatever they are they're the best at it 😂
It’s basic for tech death, but it’s because literally they have at least some level of influence in every modern tech death band. Also nice Braixen profile pic.
@@jojoplaysmusic Didn't expect you to point that out. Thanks! ☺️
Melodeath is carcass
Melodic death metal: Instesine Baalism
I'd choose Carcass or At The Gates
I probably would have picked an As I Lay Dying riff for “melodic metalcore,” but if I’m being honest, it would come down to a coin toss b/w AILD and Killswitch Engage, so “Rose of Sharyn” was a solid choice 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Some suggestions for the next video (and I’ll give two bands/riffs for each):
- New Wave of American Heavy Metal: Lamb of God - “Ruin” or Darkest Hour - “Rapture in Exile”
- Christian Metalcore: Underoath - “In Regards to Myself” or Norma Jean - “Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste”
- Melodic Death Metal: At The Gates - “Blinded By Fear” or Carcass - “Heartwork”
- Alternative Metal: Deftones - “Rocket Skates” or Helmet - “Milquetoast”
- Stoner Metal: Sleep - “Holy Mountain” or Electric Wizard - “Funeralopolis”
- Groove Metal: Pantera - “The Great Southern Trendkill” or White Zombie - “Thunderkiss ‘65”
- Mathcore: The Dillinger Escape Plan - “43% Burnt”…I’m not even gonna bother with an alternative for this genre, this is the one lol
I mean it’s a toss up of either KSE or AILD tbh since they both set the blueprints for what we know melodic Metalcore to be.
C'mon man Trendkill really?
Amigo, que buen y excelente toque, un abrazo grande y saludos Metaleros desde Colombia.
Saludos!
Good to see Napalm Death get some love, I feel like younger metalheads overlook them (I could be very wrong!). Totally brutal guitar flaying too, at this rate you'll be a f'in machine before long
Am I not a machine yet? 😤😤
@@jojoplaysmusic you definitely are! And soon you'll be an F'in Machine🤓
Chose the right Napalm Death song, but it's the riff that last riff before the song ends that i wojld jsbe picked as the best
YOU PLAYED AIMLESS ARROW AND TO BUILD A MOUNTAIN
I at least thought Kreator might be in with a chance for Thrash
keep it up man!
Nice Chaotic poster behind you 😮
Thanks! It's signed by the artists too ;)
Ye Entrancemperium was the correct answer. Well done 👏 👏👏👏👏
Tech Death/ Death
Brutal Death Metal/ Cryptosy
Dissonant Death Metal/ Ad Nauseam
Mathcore/ The Dilinger Scape Plan
Prog Metal/ Tool
Dissonant Black Metal/ Death Speell Omega
the tones!!?!!? i have never heard such perfect tone😩😩😩
also where is speed metal!?!
I intend to do more parts in different videos to cover all Subgenres (or as many as possible).
Hi,I'm here to write the obligatory comment complaining about how Emperor received the best BM band spot over Gorgoroth.
lmao
You mean over immortal?
@@petertobin2219 Love Immortal, but they haven't done much of significance in like a decade.
bro, us bm = shit
what bro. emperor is better😂
You chose Clown for nu metal riff, you sir are a man culture and taste! Clown riff devastated my brain in the best way fitst time i heard it
Firepower is such a good riff fuck yeah
Meshuggah on a Tele is one of the little things that make my life better.
dm not being death is crazy
fr tho
They’ll probably be in Prog-Death. I’m pretty sure he was talking about straight Death Metal
@@d3th_2_all death does have their first 3 raw aggressive death metal records
@@d3th_2_all only their last album is prog death, rest is tech and osdm
Dream Theater is probably the best representation for Prog Metal. Tool suffers from the same issue that AC/DC suffers from, where you don’t change your sound, and your songs start to become parodies of each other over time.
Altho Suicide Silence are definitely one of the best deathcore bands, I'd more likely go with Whitechapel or maybe even Chelsea Grin. Still, You Only Live Once and Unanswered are definitely anthems of Deathcore.
I’m definitely more of a Whitechapel guy, but I can’t deny the impact SS had.
How did you put distortion on your semi hollow without it feedbacking into oblivion?😳😳
With a really tight noise gate
This is Cannibal Corpse, but honestly Morbid Angel had Altars of Madness so they win
Correction: NWOBHM is not a genre, but a movement. Thus a 2018 song can't be a part of it. Also Priest are not NWOBHM since they started before it
🤓
HUGE Slayer fan here, but i dont think they should be called the best thrash band ever because they're sinply too close to death metal in my opinion. I wouldn't use Slayer to explain to someone what Thrash was. They just sound different from everyone else. Amazing band, but i think they excel BECAUSE they aren't really a pure thrash band.
Also:
Death> Cannibal Corpse
Mastodon> Crowbar
Mastodon have been more prog than sludge for some years at this point, but I do agree that mastodon>crowbar
@@vocecaiunocontodomalakoi7541 Just saw them live yesterday for the 3rd time and they are as fantastic as ever
There was ... A 🎉
nah you were right about picking ye entrancemperium as the best black metal riff, that album is a fucking masterpiece
Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk has some magic done to it.
Love to see killswitch there, tose are the ones make me turn my head from just metal/ heavy and hard rock
As a shreddy technical thrash metal fan, yes Megadeth
I don't think I've ever met anyone who actually likes slayer and doesn't just scream their name for the meme
that's the correct answer for best metalcore band
can't agree about suicide silence though they have like 1 album that wipes the whole rest of their discography
best deathcore band should be someone more consistent
Hmm probably for Deathcore could be Whitechapel too.
@@jojoplaysmusic i can def. see that!!!
I gave you a thumb up for the shout out to galneryus. Galneryus is my favorite power metal band
Galneryus es goated
@@jojoplaysmusic my favorite song is raise my sword. But alsatia seems underrated, but still the GOAT
Way to stake a claim with slayer haha! 🤘
As it must be done
@@jojoplaysmusic creo que hay un conexión mágico slayer tiene con Latinoamérica. But it helps to have a chileno and cubano with that haha
Slayer will never compose something close to master of puppets or Rust In Peace
Death is better than Cannibal Corpse, and Corpsegrinder himself would 100% agree with that.
You people are a circus.
🔥
🤝
Slayer might have been my top choice if Kerry was not allowed to write riffs in the early days lol
Lol, although Jeff’s riffs more than make up for it.
I prefer eyehategod over crowbar, but they are good too
Eyehategod is so good, but I think Crowbar really set the template for all great Sludge IMO
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Suicide Silence>All Shall Perish is just a wrong opinion, brother. 😂 Great video, of course though. Keep it up.
3:20 lmao
bro really played metal on a Telecaster
all musicians are great in comparison of the audience, the audience should stfu and be thankful for every piece of music that reach their ears
0:56 making that xomparison is disrespectful, slayer has nothing to do with megadeth, slayer sounds fare more thrash than megadeth ever did
not having Fear Factory as Industrial metal feels illegal. I can understand you chose it because it's the most known Industrial metal band, but as a wise man once said "a big burger Doesn't mean a good burger."
0:52 bro read my mind 💀💀(BTW i still think is Megadeth they're just different Rust in peace Solo, i mean the Best trash Metal album imo)
Clown is a Wild pick for Nu Metal
Trivium Best band of metalcore
Nah
Best Thrash Band = Every Thrash Band that starts with The letter S or T or D or P
Demolition hammer 😎
STD lmao
You should’ve put death instead of cannibal corpse they really invented death metal
We need doom and its subsequent subgenres.
I agreed with your choices until you got to Slayer and Cannibal Corpse
rational gaze best song from meshuggah indeed
Not complaining about Emperor being the pick for black metal. You could’ve picked far worse…
Helloween best PM band? Hard disagree. That would be Blind Guardian. Probably the most influential after Imaginations. Helloween close second tho.
Never hear about a thall genre!? Appears being same as Djent!
Basically it's a mix of Downtempo Deathcore (Deathcore that's all breakdowns), Djent and Post-metal.
Rammstein is Neue Deutsche Härte not industrial id of gone for fear factory or cell dweller
>Grindcore
>not Nasum
(≖_≖ )
angra not being in the best power metal band is wrong
Firepower by 2018. Seriously?
Best genre is ozzy's heavy metal
Need some JFAC from you.
4:13 And now who will say that nu-metal is shit? 🙄 😏
DragonForce is better than Helloween
No
@@df-dn9gtYes
thall
Havok is best thrash metal
Waiting for prog metal🙃
In part 2 most likely
Naw dawg, testament for thrash for sure
Testament should definitely be in the big four
NWOBHM is still just heavy metal, not a different subgenre lol.
It’s my excuse to add Judas Priest
converge ain't metalcore
Yeah they are
Huge miss on the metalcore
Nah Converge is the best. Literally no one sounded like them back in the day, and still no one sounds like them now
loose tee & chain are nxt Metal at all; look doesn’t match the playing.
I’ll dress however I like
Only a poser would put cannibal corpse as the best death metal band
People who call other people "posers" are the real posers!! Stop with that high school shit!!
@@robertoneill9331 true brother, we can't let metal die in the hands of closed mindedness and *hatred*
#theycantkillthemetal
@@robertoneill9331 educate yourself further, you will realise that true bliss lies in shitting on other people for their personal preferences!!
Slayer is so boring. I just cant take it :(
Slayer is great, you are boring.
@@spiritinblack370 total respect to Slayer and the bands that took influence from they. But, I think Slayer is so... "Standard" yk?
death is the best death metal band
Death is not typical Deathmetal band though. It is more something like progressive thrashmetal. I often wonder why people put Death in number one rank for DEATHmetal bands, when it is not a typical example for the Deathmetal genre although Death was very influential in the extreme Metal genre.
"Real" deathmetal has lower tuning, more distortion, lower and less understandable vocals (growls) and usually uses a lot of blast beats (although that is optional but a clear distinction from thrashmetal which comes without blastbeats like 95 percent of the time and Death didn't use blastbeats as far as I am informed).
Classical examples for Deathmetal are cannibal corpse and Deicide for american deathmetal, Bolt Thrower and Benediction for british Deathmetal and grave and dismember for swedish Deathmetal. All these bands sound (in my opinion) very different than Death.
@@Backpflaume666Chuck literally pioneered this shit and you want to talk about "real death metal" ROFL
Best Ozzy song is "Crazy Train", bro. Lol
Megadeth "Holy Wars" is the penultimate Thrash song. Don't be a scrub. 🤣
The best Death Metal song is "Spiritual Healing" by Death.
The best Industrial Metal song is "Demanufacture" by Fear Factory.
Djent is not a genre. Meshuggah are progressive metal.
Thall isn't a genre either.
I’m a certified Megadeth disliker, and for “Bark at the Moon” I simply enjoy it more that “Crazy Train”.
@@jojoplaysmusic , well, you need to stop on both counts. I am disappointed, sir.
Not disappointed enough to stop listening to your content, of course. But still.
Mr.Crowley is the best Ozzy Osbourne song, megadeth sounds like Metallica but worse with a dying crackhead duck singing over it, Djent is a genre, Meshuggah are Djent and Thall is a genre no matter what you say ya fokhen idiot elitist
@@SamBrockmann Megadeth sucks, not real thrash, too soft.
@@spiritinblack370 , this f***ing guy. Hand me your metal card. We're going to cut one corner off. You get 3 more warnings, you scrub.
