When hiking I carry: A very extensive medical bag and a very comprehensive Trauma pack. A LifeStraw, 10x10.5 Free Shoulders tarp, a netted hammock, food for a day, a large knife, a small axe, a litter of water, a fire starter, Bear Repellent, a nesting cup, inflatable sleeping pad, compass and maps, two glow sticks, a emergency whistle, compact mirror, small rifle scope, Henry ar7 and 50 reload, gloves, emergency butane burner ( in case I can't start a fire), duct-tape, superglue, a small set of needles and thread, fishing line,bankline, fishing hooks, several flashlights, extra socks, poncho This all fits in a backpack, and weight is about 30 lbs

Very Nice kit setup. If im exploring new areas I always take a more extensive kit as well.
