    You need to say only one thing about the review of this car...it's the best and most reliable car ever made!

    B mode is not “one pedal driving” mode or it is not designed to increase regen braking. It is there for steep downhills, since it also revs up the engine for engine braking. Using B mode in normal driving conditions will result worse fuel economy.

    • @japkoslav
      @japkoslav 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really :)
      When you are in EV it does increase regen breaking.
      In HV mode it does break with motor.

    • @japkoslav
      @japkoslav 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chilenitonuma Oh, that might be the case. 2017+ model probably does use B mode in a different way.
      They way you describe it, it's the same way my Corolla 2019 hybrid was working B = engine breaking.

    • @japkoslav
      @japkoslav 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chilenitonuma RAV4 certainly looks really appealing, but to me, it has one huge con ... and that's - it's an SUV :-D
      I get the appeal of a big car, but my wife, two kids and dog were fine in Corolla HB and are really happy in current Prius PHV.

    I couldn't agree with you more about the cargo space. I have been using prius since the very beginning. Its trunk space is big enough to hold 2 or 3 medium size suitcases and small carry-on luggage for travel. Seeing the plugin version can increase the range to 130 miles for a charge, I decided to upgrade. Yet when I went to Toyota dealer only to find the trunk becomes too small to hold two suitcases. I gave up my decision. Other than daily grocery-shopping I cannot see other use for the car. For daily use, in fact, I'd rather have an electric car. The pros for hybrid is during travel time, you don't always have a charge station available. It is different from daily use, where you either park your car at home or in work place, where you can always find a charging post.

    About that view out the back, with that strange crossbar with glass both below and above. I have been driving a 2010 Prius for several years now. I've long since gotten used to the view - and one thing I like is, that crossbar blocks my view of the headlights of many normal-size cars (but not of tall trucks/suv's), which decreases the distraction I get from those headlights during night driving.

    I have a 2019 Prime. I like the car a lot, great gas mileage and really nice to be able to use EV mode for our local trips. Only complaints would be the low ground clearance ( it’s easy to scrape underneath front bumper) and I wish there was more cargo space in back.

  • @pbasswil
    @pbasswil 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Honda Clarity: no hatch, so no long-ish loads/Ikea furniture/lumber etc. Hyundai/Kia plugin hybrids: no heat exchanger, so any climate control, like heat for nordic climes, your ICE engine will be running - i.e., you'll be driving hybrid, not pure plugin. Prius Prime downside: very low ground clearance - bad in snow or very rough roads.

    This car is amazing. I drove around town a lot today and when I saw that the hybrid battery battery was getting down to 20% I went ahead and put the car in Ecco HV mode. It would still occasionally drive an EV mode regardless. This car does not like to sip gas at all. But the time my day was done I believe my overall mpg was well over 200 miles per gallon. If you factor in how much electric I was using. Bottom line is this cars amazing if you know how to manipulate the system like someone on TH-cam said if you get the car home and still have hybrid battery left over and you were using the engine ,then you did it wrong

    In 2000, actually 1999, I bought a Toyota Tundra thinking the reliability would rival Honda, and I was right. But with this war and fuel prices rising fast, a Prius is looking good. I like that it is not reliant on a charge but can use gas. I am sold, the next car is the Prius, if I can afford one.

    I'm an absolute fan of Toyota. And I just love the fact that they are the leader of hybrid cars BUT they don't have any Hybrid Sport car, they stick with good recipes like we love. Toyota knows that Hybrids are good, but they don't want this in
    their sport cars because it's killing the passion of a sport car. I just admire this brand

    better deal than regular prius because of the federal/ state tax credit, if you buy it when they have good manufacturer rebate and dealer discount, this can be a great deal, way cheaper than prius, only downside I can see is decreased trunk space, quite significant actually. • @flamingspinach

      MPG (not e) of the Prius Prime in gas powered mode also beats the Volt significantly, btw. But that 53 mile EV mode range is tempting for sure. The Volt is definitely on my shopping list right now, alongside the Prius Prime.

    I really like the exterior design minus the rear end but overall like it. I DON'T like the interior however. Don't like that slow, sluggish touch screen not to mention it really needs knobs. Toyota really dropped the ball with this model and could have been better. I also HATE how the speedometer is in the center vs in front of the driver. That's the reason I stay away from Mini's and same with the Prius as well. Other than that I like this vehicle, really hope Toyota updates it with those fixes and maybe even adds more range to the battery to 50+ miles plus gas.

    Hmmm. I have my eye on the upcoming Lexus NX 450+ which is a plugin hybrid. Might be spring 2022 when it comes out. About these plugin hybrids, after owning a Tesla Model 3 since 2018 with 300 mile advertised (in reality, it is 260 because the AC/Heat eats up battery faster than a baby drinks milk 🤣😉) the EV range of a plugin is a joke for me. However, what I'm HOPING for and asking is this: as compared to a regular hybrid, in full hybrid mode, does the Prime have better acceleration and less engine roar? If you're an owner, what, pray tell, is your experience in this regard?

    If you hold down the EV button for 3 seconds, your prime goes into charge mode. Whatever gas you use charges the car. Even if you are sitting idling your car, the gas still charges in this mode. I find I charge my car while waiting for my kids at the dr.s or just using this on hills. Why use my battery climbing when I can be charging. I use my charger at my house less thanks to this trick that charges my car as I drive. This is for the 2020 or newer models.

    They’ve tried hard but it is still very ugly inside and out.
