    The driving on the electric motor feels so great in this car. The acceleration is quick also. I leave cars through stops, however they catch up easily.

    Generally good, flattering, accurate, and positive review, thank you. As a 2017 PP owner, few inaccuracies - (1) Apple CarPlay is available on the 2020 PPs only, the 2021 added Android Auto but only on the lower LE trim, (2) alloy wheels under hubcaps, not steel, (3) Lithium Ion battery not under your butt, it takes up the rear hatch area only, (4) driving in B mode not recommended unless you want to use engine braking, and (5) you insinuate that the Limited Trim has upscale features like chrome, those same features come standard across all 3 trim levels.

    • @flylfb
      @flylfb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is B mode really not recommended? I use it most of the time. It does have less gliding but give me a (fake?) sensation I would have more battery range.

    • @extorian
      @extorian 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@flylfb B mode is intended for very long downhill roads when your battery is full, only. Once the battery is full, you no longer have regenerative braking, as there's nowhere for that energy to get stored, so when pressing the brake it's entirely on the normal friction brakes (no regenerative braking). A normal car can split the braking between friction brakes and engine braking. That's exactly what B Mode does, it ENABLES ENGINE BRAKING. Your engine will now stay connected to the drivetrain and rev up when slowing down, adding to the braking effect by making the wheels turn the engine, just like dropping a normal car into a low gear would do. As your car is now favouring engine braking over regenerative braking, you're wasting that energy by turning it into heat in the engine and brakes. So, ONLY use B mode when your battery is full and you're going downhill and needing to brake lots, otherwise you're basically turning off the majority of regenerative braking, and vastly reducing your fuel economy.

    • @2927usmc
      @2927usmc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@flylfb In the owner's manual the only applicable notation I could find regarding your question is "If the vehicle is driven continuously in the B position, fuel efficiency will
      become low. Usually, select the D position." Page 341 of the 2019 PP owner's manual.

    I drive 2018, and it is incredibly smart car, with efficiency imbedded in every inch. 1000km road trip mountain highway 4 ppl plus luggage no problem with fuel efficiency at the pump 3.4 l/100km / 69 mpg ! The only down side I see is the heavy trunk with batteries which in slippery conditions in EV mode gives spinning front wheels.

    Joe, I just discovered your channel the other day, have been binge watching like crazy. Dude you are cracking me up here with all these videos. The candy bar references and the books, like it’s funny but you are also legit speaking truth 😂😂
    Seriously though, I really appreciate your style. Someone said it in another recent video, that all your videos have long takes, not constant cuts. It shows you really know so many facts and details. Some other channels have obnoxiously long intros, over explain or continue saying the same thing. You are to the point yet engaging. And I really appreciate your formula, how you give a little history in the beginning. It’s so helpful. A realistic dream car of mine is a WRX, yet I’ve recently been curious about where Prius is, and I’ve lost track of the line up. You answered all my questions.

Driving this thing is like playing a video game to get that high score, the more score you get, the more money you save.

    I’ve had the 2020 PP Limited for a year with 5,200 miles driven - no regrets and love all the tech. It does have Apple CarPlay which works well. Toyota’s Entune app has been dumbed down so no longer worth using. In full EV mode its responsive, smooth and very quiet. The 64 dislikes are from the Prius haters. Anyways Joe, my dad just got a Prius XLE and I’m watching the prime version here. It’s much better than ours. Love the video joe, your really funny. I’m 11 and watching your videos all day, I found your channel a few weeks ago and I’m loving watching the videos you make, subbed to you even. The snack jokes are cracking me up. It’s really funny, I’m still wondering, have you done a video on the 2021 Toyota Highlander or sienna yet? If not can you please do one?

    In 2017 I was considering either a Prius or a Mustang. I know ---- two totally different cars. But those were my 2 options. I know several folks who love their Prius. In the end I opted for a Mustang EcoBoost premium and have been happy with the looks and mpg. The price tag for this Prius seems very reasonable. Thanks for reviewing it.

    Maaaaaaaan you never cease to amaze us bruh!!! We literally went from a fire breathing 'Stang to a Prius Prime!!! Toyota is buttoning down the hybrid powertrain in this one and look at it. It's a little easier on the eyes than the regular Prius... a little. Thanks for the upload Joe!!! #RaitisRides #OnThrottle #ToTheDoorPanel #TwinkiesForDays #CrownVic #PriusPrimeRollOut

    I’m absolutely surprised at all cars don’t get this kind of miles per gallon.
    It uses a traction battery in conjunction with a centrifugal force charging motor.
    I was so tired of having a car that got 25 miles per gallon. Now I’m getting 60to approximately without charging-and oddly enough I’m not getting tailgated.
    Thoroughly enjoy the car (quite inside on the highway) and I’m glad they have it priced so that we could afford it. Tesla’s amazing, but priced out of the range.

    At 8:42: the 2020 Prime does have Apple CarPlay for all the trims. It sucks a bit because it only uses a small part of the screen just like the rear camera, the remaining parts are used to display ac or songs info.
    Curious enough: the LE version, the lowest trim, does have the smaller screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That’s right, no support for Android Auto in the highest trims. Go figure.

    BIG QUESTION - Whenever I drive out of state, I have to plug it somewhere? I really like the prime But it's a hassle to plug it in a hotel lobby or Air BnB home. It's great on gas, technology, etc etc. But that one thing really turns me away. I will look into another hybrid or gas vehicle.

    if you drive long distances all the time I can see it, though there are other hybrids now that get similar mpg. If you don't drive long distances, the model 3 standard range is the better choice for similar money.

  • @flylfb

    I liked this review, just a feel details I mentioned in other comments as the alloy wheels (not steel) and the 2020 does have apple CarPlay (and Android auto on the LE).
    The cargo space is mediocre at best, but easy to spot. The pedal parking brake is a bit bizarre as I expected a more modern option, but it’s ok.
    I miss a lot a hold on brake feature/button and the full electric mode is so sweet for driving. Quiet and smooth, perfect for a commuter car and it usually reaches more than 25 miles. I usually get 29 to 30 before hybrid mode w/ the Regen brakes.
    The seats are comfortable, this car has a pretty good space. The foot lights on XLE and limited adds some class.
    The beep from the reverse gear is awful.
    The 11” infotainment is ridiculously outdated and I only wish I could disable or totally hide the GPS and SiriusXM, the small rendering of Apple CarPlay is small but much better.
    I wish, but without hopes, Toyota updates the system to allow a full screen (or a larger portion) for CarPlay. That would make my day.

    • @Emotionengne
      @Emotionengne 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem with the apple car play full screen is not Toyota, its apple. They have software limitations on aspect ratio that’s why it can’t use the entire real estate on that 11 inch screen.

    • @flylfb
      @flylfb 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Emotionengne I see, still I wish things could be better distributed and, in this case, Apple to consider vertical screens layouts.
