When Ducati brought out the new V4 Panigale I thought they were gonna be top of the superbike tree for the foreseeable future but you and it seems every other reviewer agree that BMW have set the new standard, to the degree that in the TT superbike, senior and superstock races some competitors were riding 1000RRs with just a race ECU and full exhaust system change, which speaks volumes about just how good a bike it is.
Great bike. However, for the road, I fear you'd need to add the essential "BMW Speedometer Obscurer Assist Pro" option - and I can't find it on the price list.
Thanks for the review, TMF! I know that some people criticize your reviews for not pushing the bikes to their limits etc, but as a fellow middle-aged bloke who also rides bikes just on the roads and 'just' for fun, your reviews are perfect for me.
You have to admire the BMW engineers sticking with 1000cc getting so much power, Euro5 compliant. Lots of the other sports bike manufacturers like Ducati and Aprilia have just upped the cc on the road machines to get past emission regs and still deliver improved performance. Still don't think a 6ft 4" 18st gorilla like me would be comfortable on one mind. Cheers and all the best 👍
You always start a review with this question......”if you’re interested in this bike, stay tuned”. I’ve actually never been interested in a single bike you’ve reviewed. I have not missed a single bike review since I found your channel. Well done Sir. Cheers........👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great vid again TMF. I am actually a fan of the previous models asymmetrical front end but BMW did a great job of updating the RR without making it look like every other liter bike out there. Keep up the great work sir. Peace!
I was down the local BMW dealer yesterday, wonderful bike and you can commute on a sports bike quite easily. Glad they’ve sorted the front end. Love it! Shame Triumph seem to have given up on sportsbikes. Thanks for that and have a good weekend. 👍
First time viewing your channel for me. Great real-world review doing what most of us will do for the majority of our time on our bikes: day-to-day riding with little streaks of spirited riding. Informative and succinct. Enjoyed this review, thanks!
But then we already knew that it was going to be a phenomenal motorbike. 🏍 One thing that stood out was that there was a gentleman amongst the school boys waving thanks to you on the pedestrian crossing! 👌
I see so much Desmosedici RR is the front fairing on this bike it’s crazy. About time a bike manufacturer started taking design cues from the most beautiful sport bike in history :)
First off I would lose my license quickly, second would be my life , thirdly the insurance here in Canada would mean I would have to sell my house, okay I WANT one!!!
I'd totally get one of those if those sportbikes if the riding position didn't wreak havoc on my inflexible body. Thanks once more for the review, Mr Flyer!
getting mine next month and can't wait!! I've probably watched all the latest reviews..gotta say I like yours the most, great job mate. greetings from germany
Frankly, I'm not interested in this kind of bike whatsoever - around '22 when I'll be able to afford it, it'll be a BMW R1250R or a possible successor. But your review is so on point with absolutely no nonsense and an extremely pleasant narration that I couldn't resist watching the whole thing - really an excellent job!
Service at BMW dealers yesterday saw an RR in the flesh , what I did particularly like about the design was the rear light combined with the indicators!
How to feel like Captain Kirk. You don't have to tell Scotty or the rest to "engage warp drive", just twist your wrist and you're piloting along the grey blur trying to avoid the green blur.
@@TheMissendenFlyer look forward to seeing the review. I think at 49 years of age myself it’s a great option for us older bikers because of the comfort and versatility. I have a Super Duke R 1290 but for longer rides I miss a bit of fairing for wind deflection/rainy conditions so this could well be the answer.👍🏻
The first thing you mentioned was the tight tuck position. That would be an issue for most people as I had that extreme riding position on my GSXR1000. I commuted on it & it was a nightmare (central London)
Good to see a city review. You were just about to get into the swap of cam when you shifted a gear up, also it would have been interesting to know if that bike was still under 1000km as they are electronically capped 9000 rpm before the second cam comes in. I have tested it both track and road, real twisty roads and it was very easy to ride compared to other of the type sport bikes. All modes. Btw the traction control button only works as from race pro modes.
I always thought BMW cars have some of the nicest looking headlights/running lights. Glad to see they’re following that on their new bikes too. Great video as always and hello from the U.S.
Doing some late night channel binging and oh I've looked forward to catching up with this one. Absolutely cracking review. I quite liked the looks of previous generation, gave it quite a unique look but the new model looks incredibly sleek!
Im sure its OK but that motor is prolly not ment to be lugged at 30mph in 6th gear IMO. Prolly why you said the mirrors were viby. Awsome quick first impressions vid tho👍 keep up your hard work and ride safe
Great review TMF she is a gourgess thing saw the M version in the dealer today if only I was 20 years younger even liked it over the HPRace they have 😱😂👍
I personally like the older look better. I'm not a huge fan of the old style headlights, it would have been better if both looked the same(i would have preferred the round light for both sides) but the one area that i think looks better on the older bikes is the side fairing. I really like the shark gill style look, plus really loved that blue color. Nice bike though, can't argue that.
TMF, I’d like to hear more comments regarding that elusive variable, the engine’s character. My experience has led me to believe “character” is inversely proportionate to a bike’s ability to perform well on a closed circuit; the better on the track, the less character it has left for the street? For me, that’s why the boxer, triples, almost any V-4, some modern parallel and almost all V- twins appeal more than straight fours . . . for 90% of street riding. If you haven’t already, and you’d be willing to open that can of worms, I’d be very interested in watching an entire episode on the topic of engine character.
I have seen others comment that this bike is so easy to ride and confidence inspiring it tends to get the rider in over their comfort level. Stay safe or at least stay alive.
Blimey you gave it a bit of wellie, just floats along.... beautiful bike... love the looks, they have definitely sorted out the looks of the front end... even the stock tail tidy is good, thanks for sharing...

No way on earth would a normal sports biker rider have let that Merc go off in to the distance. Outrageous.
The previous generations' S1000rr reminded me of Forest Whitaker for some reason.......
I've always found it more of a "bill the cat" from Bloom County look.
