Sully is one of the best musicians around. He does it all at a very very high level. They've been around for like 30 years, and Sully still brings it full on every night.
How great it is to see the drums and the drummers, out in front and center to show everyone that a lot happens back there to make this awesome music 🤘🏼🤘🏼 great job GODSMACK !!!!! ROCK ON 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I saw these guys do this routine about 10 years ago when they opened for Metallica in Houston, Texas. Glad to see they are still doing it. It never gets old.
I saw them on the same tour in Portland OR. KILLER SHOW!!! They were better than Metallica imo. Had no idea they did the dueling drum solo. I was looking down from the upper level of the Rose Garden. The stage was in the middle of a basketball arena. My jaw hit the floor when I saw Sully behind a second drum kit and they both rotated to face each other. I still get chills when I hear the dvd version. Blew me away big time. Honored to say I was there to see it....
I remember when Shannon played in Wrathchild America back in the mid 80’s. He had one side of his hair white, the other side black. The same with the drum kit. I think he was around 17 or 18 at the time. What a beast.
For the drummers out there that think Godsmack should change it. Why change what's already perfect. Like Phil Collins drum solo that's awesome. They both bring there own drum solo to the fans yet there different. I'd like to see more bands out there that has 2 drummers do a 2 drum solo that's different then Godsmack and Phil Collins and the reason there both so great is because they didn't copy each other they made there own drum solos that will make the rock and roll hall of fame someday if there not already there. And I'm not saying Godsmack shouldn't come up with a different drum solo. I'm just saying don't change the one they have that is perfect
I've known Shannon since his Baltimore days. I got to see Wrathchild America play their first show as Souls at Zero in a small club in Delaware and also in that same club different night I got to see M.F. Pitbulls .they had various drums and percussion on the side of the stage long before Slipknot was even thought of. Killer show too.
They are great guys! I've met Sully many times. He's just a regular guy that you'd bump into at the post office, gas station or Dunkin Donuts... Quite literally!!! He lived about 10 minutes from me in Windham, NH But I heard he moved to Florida. I haven't seen him around lately... GODSMACK ROCKS!!!🤘😁👍
Absolutely fantastic!!! One of my all time favorite performances. Saw them at the Fox in Atlanta when they did the early version. This one they incorporated new riffs. The original will always be my favorite. Glad this was recorded with the new stuff! Rock on y'all!!!!
I seen godsmack 4times basically in their early days so unfortunately I never got to see live drum battle but irregardless still awesome band and awesome live. Hell their logo was my 1st tattoo like 25yrs ago🤟
A duet, not a battle. And so much to memorize! You drum critics try it sometime and you'll see why they havent changed it in years. It'd be like changing up a long Rush song. Why would you? HOW would you??? Great show of musicality and teamwork. Saved to "favorites" by this drummer for sure.
not even close to the first time they did this if you have not seen it go check it out i must have watched it a thousand times i can barely get through this....like they hav not played it since then. still one of the best rock bands ever.
I agree! Saw Sully and Shannon perform the most awesome drum solo in August 2006 at Hifi Buys Amphitheater in Atlanta . Wasn't expecting what I got. I was literally awe-struck at what I was witnessing. Anyone who questions their abilities should definitely look up the earlier drum solo performances.
I believe when the band originated, Sully was just the drummer. The lead singer left early on so he went to the front, and they auditioned out for a new drummer. Could be mistaken, though
Not gonna lie as much as I love these guys, this solo hasn't changed since the first time they did it. (Which had way more energy & was up-tempo). I'm not one to complain, but as a drummer myself, I just would've liked to hear them change it up. Almost like they're going through the motions.
I thought it was kinda slow too….it’s my favorite part of the show….saw them last year for the 11th time and they took out the drum battle completely! I was crushed LOL….Glad to see they brought it back! 🤘🤘🤘
When you watch one of their first drum battles compared to this one you can tell Sully and Shannon are getting long in the tooth. They look less energetic in this one. Still an amazing performance. Best drum duo I have seen performed. #legends
Damn, man. You’d think they’d at least change it up some through the years. To also keep it fresh for Sully and Shannon from doing the sameeee drum solo night after night!
A Godsmack drum battle is the BEST EVER!!!!!
Sully is such a talented guy the drums, piano, guitar and the list goes on
I love watching Shannon play. He’s a badass!!
Sully kicks ass also ! ❤
Sully is one of the best musicians around. He does it all at a very very high level. They've been around for like 30 years, and Sully still brings it full on every night.
I liked his playing on the album climbing the walls when he was with WRATHCHILD AMERICA
Shannon & Sully are ridiculous!👏👏👍👍☝️☝️
I believe we need more of this kind of music and fun
Yes, fun!
Thannks fo the Video! that was incredible!

How great it is to see the drums and the drummers, out in front and center to show everyone that a lot happens back there to make this awesome music 🤘🏼🤘🏼 great job GODSMACK !!!!! ROCK ON 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

I’ve seen them live twice….this is the best part of the show
I saw these guys do this routine about 10 years ago when they opened for Metallica in Houston, Texas. Glad to see they are still doing it. It never gets old.
That was almost 20 years ago man. Madley In Anger with the World Tour. Seems like yesterday though
@@chrishard9801 Wow! Doesn’t seem like that long. Time flies. “Once you’re over the hill, you begin to pick up speed.”
Saw them with Metallica in 04/05 in Roanoke Va. They were awesome live.
Lars was " I can do that but I play for metallica" so I can't join
Man I used to love the older video on YT and to know they are still doing this is a bucket list to see! Love it!

Saw him then too, with wrathchild. He was a badass then, & still is. 🤘
Loved wrathchild America, I survived new years eve at swizzles
and he would spin his hair around fast as shit...
Thank You!!

I saw them recently and it's definitely worth it.
They are great guys! I've met Sully many times. He's just a regular guy that you'd bump into at the post office, gas station or Dunkin Donuts... Quite literally!!! He lived about 10 minutes from me in Windham, NH But I heard he moved to Florida. I haven't seen him around lately...

Old and slow.. 😂😂
Yeah, from the faces dvd.
Shannon definitely seems to just be going through the motions. No passion no power.
Seen them duo like 20 years ago unbelievable sully can hit the kit as good as his actual drummer

Fkn A….love when the drummers face off like this!
Robbie Merrill’s killing it on the bass and Tony Rombola is killing it on the guitar!
Saw them do this in Nashville back in 04’… maybe 05’🤔
My favorite part is that unique hollow sound after 5 minutes. What kind of drum produces that sound?
It starts at 5 minutes 44 seconds
Fuck awesome
Solid
What is that hollow sound on the drumset? It's awesome
Very cool bro 👽🌈
I believe when the band originated, Sully was just the drummer. The lead singer left early on so he went to the front, and they auditioned out for a new drummer. Could be mistaken, though
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Agree with all ,,,and Im a drummer too!! Nothing like that Original Drum Kit Battle years ago!!
I thought it was kinda slow too….it’s my favorite part of the show….saw them last year for the 11th time and they took out the drum battle completely! I was crushed LOL….Glad to see they brought it back! 🤘🤘🤘
they old now, they are no longer there younger selves 🤷🏾♂️
I just thought the same. Kinda corny, really. Very cool 1st time.
Didn't move me, really. Good drumming as stated, but.
Agree… But if you’ve never seen it before and not expecting it… Its amazing!!

Damn, man. You’d think they’d at least change it up some through the years. To also keep it fresh for Sully and Shannon from doing the sameeee drum solo night after night!
It's all they know.
It's technically a song they're playing not a real drum off.
Why change such a winning recipe? Its a very awesome part of their show
Playing his newly issued RCI built Vistalites.
All given by GOD!...Let's play :)
