True story. I saw chad one day before a concert. I got an autograph. He ask me where there was good to eat. I said “ go here, I’m headed there now … “ he jumped in the car and I had lunch with one of my boy hood idols. I’ll never forget it. Kind man.
@@tomislavtodorovic4024 2010. I have so many great Chad Smith stories. I have met him maybe 4 times. Had a cigarette w him. I don’t even smoke but he asked me if I wanted one. Of course this is my best story. I had drinks with ric flair once also. Told him about the chili pepper story and he told me “ I used to party with those guys. I wear the biggest sock of them all … wooo “
When you are that famous everybody wants a piece of you. The great thing about Chad is he gives back by doing stuff like this. So great for these drummers to be next to him while he is playing. The look on the kids faces was priceless. Chad is a great ambassador for the drumming community and good human.😎

Aside from how amazing Chad Smith is, what is mind-boggling to me is that there is an actual bassist that exists and that can keep up with his funky crazy rhythms.
I go back a long long way with Chad. He was a drummer in Detroit with a band called Toby red. I was the drummer in another Detroit band called mugsy. We later changed our name to WEAPONS. Chad may remember. Back in the day Detroit had a pretty hot music scene. We did a couple albums as WEAPONS, and we played the Marquee Club in London England. Chad, and the band The Romantics are really the only ones out of Detroit that ended up with Fame from that era. Chad has grown so much in his drumming ability! Congratulations, Chad! You deserve your Fame and Fortune and your place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Sincerely, Fred Schmidt.
I was trying to watch and film at the same time. Mostly so I could capture Chad and my son there next to him, who was soaking up everything he could from his hero. Incredible night! So grateful!
@@ishancooper Lol yeah for all I knew you could've been the one responsible for me getting to see this performance.. Extremely jealous of you and your kid right now haha
Imagine these boys and girls growing up becaome famous drummers themselves and giving an interview "I saw Chad Smith when I was a child and my life changed..I knew what I wanted to do...."
He was super kind and humble when speaking with them. Also, I very much appreciate the fact he wasn’t even trying to show off, he was just trying to play and put effort into that for them. He didn’t just phone it in, he went hard. Mad respect for that.
I used to work at a recording studio in LA and remember setting up microphones like inches next to him blasting out beats for warm up. That was a crazy day :) Chad Smith is one of coolest musicians I met during those two years. Funny af, yet a total pro at work. Fun times.
Imagine a person being a busybody and caring what other ppl choose to do with their time. And then to hypocritically watch the very video on TH-cam that wouldn’t exist if no one filmed it.
@TubeSteve420 I'm all for people getting a momento of the occasion, but filming the whole performance is wank, and if I'm stood in the crowd watching, I don't want to watch the band through someone else's phone. It's an awful experience most of the time now watching a band. Mobile phones are one of the best and worst inventions of all time.
I can't believe I've heard people say he's overrated. This is pure feel right here, love it! Met him at a clinic many many years ago and he was so kind to everyone!
So great that there’s people that that can stand and record the event and concentrate on that action rather than just be in the moment. At least now I can see it too, so happy :)

How awesome, what a cracking solo.. love the look of utter bewilderment on the kids standing in the front - and kudos to @SBisMe_Uploads for posting this in 60fps!!
Man of one of the best beat i know, the Give it away beat.. Whoa that is just fking sick! To me.. the live video of it here.. damn have watched it million times, i just love those drums there.. 🤤
So I like this video a lot. I watch this over and over again. The thing I like about this video the most it the big guy with the moustache on the bottom right side of the screen is enjoying it as much as I am. Who are you man?
I barely know what I’m talking about with drumming, but I can just tell the way he flows across the kit is so so impressive. He’s not just smashing incoherently, his style has such personality
LOL at all the people taking shots at Chad’s skills. Being a member of a band, let alone a band with a 40 year history, requires skills, talents and personal qualities that go way beyond the nuts and bolts of kit playing. Yes, the kids growing up with every tutorial ever right there on YT are going to develop insane skills sitting at home practicing all day, but how many of them will ever scratch the surface of the life experience or career endurance of Chad Smith? I’m not even a crazy RHCP fan, but I’ll take Chad Smith over a TikTok show off any day of the week.
But thanks to one of those people you were able to see the video hahahaha there are always people who instead of worrying about their own affairs are moralizing the rest What did you come for ? to see chad play or the public?

Watching someone who is elite at their craft is so crazy
