      bomberbcm I swear sometimes the disrespect on kat irks me. I used to think he was soft, along with most people, but the guy is averaging crazy numbers (41% on 8 3pointers a game, which is ludicrous for anyone, let alone a center) and is shat on because his team is bad. I don’t see Devin booker nearly getting as much hate for being a good player on a bad team. Looking at kat from a purely numerical standpoint makes him look ridiculous

    Steph is also a really really underrated rebounder for a guard. Remember this is a dude who averaged more rebounds in the finals than Tristan Thompson who primarily a rebound & energy guy who plays close to the basket. And no most of his rebounds weren't a good bounce either, he was just grabbing some.

    • @StupakSH
      @StupakSH 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      But you have to take in consideration this:
      - more threes, more rebound away from basket that's why guards tend to have more rebounds these days
      - GSW's defense was great against Cavs' shootem up offense or LeBron's driving so more misses, more opportunity rebounds

AD would most certainly win finals mvp and he would get the credit once years have passed. Like piling triple-doubles against the Pacers in the 1st round, they don't weigh as much as clutch performances in the Finals. If Curry is as good as you think he is, he'll win one eventually.

    Iggy earned that Finals MVP, don't take that away from him. He was definitely the most impactful Warriors player, even though he didn't score as much as Curry.

    • @uncledru7523
      @uncledru7523 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s just not true lol. He was a great role player who stepped up but at no point was he the most valuable player on the court. He did his job. They lose that game in a sweep if curry isn’t on the court. That’s value. You swap Iggy with another 3&D vet and it’s still extremely likely they win. Steph’s the engine. You don’t give Jason Terry finals mvp because he had a great finals, you give it to dirk who’s worst series was probably the finals that year but he’s their most valuable player period. This is coming from a huge Iggy fan, he’s come up clutch in every finals they’ve played in even in the losses he always has one or two games where he gets a game winning strip or hits a big 3 but he has never once been the most valuable player on the court for the warriors. It’s always steph. That ball movement system means nothing without the greatest shooter of all time crossing half court and being a threat

    I agree Curry is criticized for stupid reasons but imo Igoudala did deserve FMVP in that series. I think it says more about FMVP not always being that important to someone's legacy than claiming it should be taken away from Igoudala. He probably had the greatest impact on their performance in that finals and a lot of the numbers show it. Simply giving FMVP to the person who scores the most on a team doesn't make a lot of sense. There are other stats to consider and from that perspective and from the eye test I think he deserved it.

    Curry could average 11 assists a game if he wanted to, key if he wanted to his spacing alone creates “assists” like you mentioned in the video. And like you said in your John Stockton video guys who ball stop and create almost everything for an offense usually don’t win (minus Magic and to an extent Isiah). Great video 110% do more of these, so many guys get crazy flak for little to no reason it’s insane.

    Love this series, only thing is though, there's a pretty solid argument for Steph being the 3rd best PG ever instead of 2nd. Magic is obviously first, but there's a strong argument to be made for Oscar Robertson being the second best and Steph being third. A lot of people have Oscar ranked 10th-13th of all-time. That's around where Steph is.

    Probably the dumbest--but somehow pervasive criticisms--I've heard of Curry was people getting triggered over how he screamed "I'm back" after winning game 4 vs the Blazers in 2016 in his first game back from injury. People feigned outrage over how it was "unsportsmanlike like conduct" and/or as proof that he was 100% recovered from the MCL injury.

They would always double curry, he would make the pass to Green and somebody would have to rotate over to Green and he would dish it to one of their shooters or bogut for the oop.
    Honestly never saw a play run so many times and almost never be stopped.

      @Caption This I agree but you really can't blame Curry for that. The league these days is STACKED, there's literally too many talented players today. Its hard to be the best when you have LeBron never coming out of his prime, Kawhi going god mode in Toronto, KD being the best scorer ever, Giannis eating defenders, James Harden scoring almost 40ppg, Russel Westbrook averaging a triple double for 3 years and so on. Not to mention new superstars every fucking year like Jason Tatum, Ja Morant, Trae Young, Luka Doncic and of course Prince Zion. Its just too hard to be the clear best player unless you're King James.

    Nice take, nice idea about the series. I totally agree with your arguments, however there are couple of things that Steph shall be criticized for - he is easily losing his cool when thing go wrong, quick examples - Finals vs Cavs which GSW lost and Conference finals vs Rockets, which they almost lost. Also, CP3 kicked his prime ass while being 33 years old himself. I love Steph, I am picking him as my starting PG when I name all time perfect team, but those things shall be taken into consideration.

    Currys first ring was against a Cavs team with kevin love out the entire finals series and kryie only played one game in that series due to injury. The next year both teams were completely healthy in the finals and warriors lost. Next 2 years was the KD warriors which was a super duper team and they could only lose due to injury or losing on purpose. Curry is a great player but overrated slightly

    • @sreddi83
      @sreddi83 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lebron has won 3 rings. 2 of which were with the Heat where they were a super duper team. The other one was with Kyrie (the artist with arguably best handles ever) and Kevin Love whom when they were together the media were saying was "the next big 3". Then GSW lost Bogut and Looney which pretty much ripped their defence which then became no defence when Draymond got suspended.
      If you nitpick hard enough every superstar's legacy is a little cracked

    Steph didn't deserve the finals mvp but that doesn't mean that he is a bad player, Kobe didn't won FMVP while playing on the first three peart Lakers but he still is one of the greatest (are different situations), Isiah Thomas didn't win FMVP in 1990 over joe dumars, but he still was the best player in that team. FMVP is how you performed in the finals, and has a lot to do on how much did you improved or decreased your game. Undoubtedly curry was the best player in the warriors in 2015, and in 2017/2018 wasn't the best but the most valuable arguably. Curry already prove being great in other circumstances.
