    There’s a certain warmth and familiarity to these videos you don’t find in other watch channels - production quality is perfect - presentation has honesty and style - nothing pretentious or opinionated - it all feels so effortless - an antidote to a typical day

    Thank you for making this video. It really hit home as the Cartier Santos represents a transition in my life - After having owned some of the most sought after Rolex models and various watches from other brands, my watch journey has brought me to a point where I am no longer worried about the financial aspect of a purchase. The current state of my collection reflects my personality, my wants and it doesn't pay attention to those that require a specific brand on the wrist. While I can immediately purchase the Santos, I'm enjoying the chase and the thrill of the hunt. Quietly putting a few hundred dollars aside every week and treating this acquisition as a reminder of the immense privilege of being able to afford an icon.

  • @MickyAvStickyHands

    My father wore a Santos, so it's engrained in my mind as the watch of a business man. The fact that it didn't get dragged into the stainless steel hype means I can still wear it as a business man. If there's one thing you never want your wrist to show when you walk into a room to make a deal, it's that you're willing to overpay for something for your ego.

    • @BraveBeaters

      I fully agree with you! this falls under the ''why I want a rolex'' to impress myself or to impress the people.

    • @1240Dax
      @1240Dax ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That really depends on the specific model, while I tend to agree (happy owner of a Santos as my daily driver), the lower end ones without date and quartz movement definitely fall into the category of "overpaid for an unimpressive watch simply to have something flashy and show off".

      I’m seeing a lot of santos hype now with younger audiences on Yt and tik tok which is kinda putting me off it idk why. I keep seeing Cartier pop up in ‘old money aesthetic’ videos made by pick me boys 😂 maybe I’m just being a watch snob

    • @1240Dax
      @1240Dax ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@patrickmonkman8151 Nah man, not a snob at all, I know what you mean.
      At risk of sounding elitist (proud owner of a pretty nice watch collection but not from a. wealthy background haha) it's definitely a shame seeing what demographic seems to be attracted to the Santos, mostly "old money" douches in compilations like you mentioned and mumble rappers that want an "iced out" Santos.
      While putting me off at first, being put off by my very recent and pricey purchase was not an option :,), I ended up realising that in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter, rappers that can afford a Santos are rare and those weirdos that try to emulate the old rich usually don't have money for a watch anyways, the majority of Santos owners/people considering one are still normal watch loving folks.

    Wow! What can I say … I am blown away….
    First about the watch and the way YOU presented it: I am secretly admiring the Santos and I can say I watched almost all videos on YT. By far yours offer the best explanation and perspective! Thanks for that and I will for sure at some point in my watch collecting journey, will own one!
    Secondly about YOUR video skills, story telling, engaging abilities and respect shown to us, the viewers… I am subscribed to this channel almost from the begining and watched all your videos (some of them 2 or 3 times :) ). In my opinion, there was, is and will be a continus improvement of your work with increasing content quality and I admire you for the determination, level of involvement and attention to details. This video, is a clear proof to me that you have a tremendous potential to become one of the best watch channels that speaks his own mind, from the heart, with no biased mindset and no hidden agenda!
    Bravo and thanks!

So when I do videos, I always think about how to make the content more engaging and more relevant for people.

      anyone can pull it off mate, if you enjoy the presence of this watch on your wrist, that is all you need. Just having it on your wrist shows confidence and a bit of sophistication. Also, Cartier is one of the most widely recognizable brands for both women and men. I'm not single, and I seldom wear watches to impress other people, however, I must admit it's nice receiving the occasional compliment from the opposite sex. Coincidently, the compliments are almost always when I'm wearing the santos.

    I truly hear what you're saying here. I bought a Santos in October last year because after working from home and becoming ever more casual and ever more reclusive I finally said to my wife that I sorely miss culture and beauty in my life. I also went for the medium, and got an additional blue cordovan strap from Delugs in Singapore. On the same day, my wife got a Tank large on bracelet, and a camel strap from Delugs. So we could feel elegance once more.

    The Cartier Santos is an iconic beauty but I would not buy one. Why? Because the Santos is very scratch prone, especially on the high polished bezel. Cartier knows about this flaw and refuses to fix it, meanwhile, TH-camrs keep making excuses for the flawed and subpar metal casing. Silver colored watches, such as stainless steel and titanium, are the defacto metal of choice. There are stainless steels that prone to scratches and stainless steels that are not prone to scratches, as well as coatings too. Why, in 2024, aren't manufacturers making "scratch-proof" watches? There are PVD coatings and nomenclatures like 316L steel, super titanium, TinSkin 3.0, and platinum encasements. A company as profitable and well funded as Cartier has no excuse for making watches that are scratch prone. Invest a little R&D and fix this problem. Having the bezel on a Cartier Santos scratched by something as innocuous as the cuff of your shirt is unforgivable.It's not just a Cartier problem, but most luxury watchmakers don't put in the effort to ensure their watches are "scratch-proof" or as scratch resistant as possible. It's a shame. For this reason alone I would never buy a Cartier Santos. Profits above all. So what are the most scratch resistant metals? Tegiment steel and UltraHex titanium.

    Usually you only find two types of opinions: 1 materialism and consumerism are bad and jewelry as Well as watches are the embodiment of this.
    2 this hobby of watch collecting is about history and art and you have them as symbols for your story or conversation starters.
    I have never heard someone admit that a watch is a soulless object that gives instant gratitude but can be filled with a personal story.
    This embraces the dark side of this hobby instead of arguing it away. That is the most mature attitude towards watches I have seen. Loved the video great content.
    On the side another thing people do is wear a watch that they talked themselves into because they liked the image of themselves with it and realize after a while it's "not them" so they sell it. I don't think I have heard someone talk about purposefully buying the watch that does not fit to their standard requirements or style because they want to reinvent themselves. So you adapt to the watch sort of. Pretty cool.

    I just went through some hard times and had to sell my patek nautilus 5712r moon phase rose gold. I had bought the watch wrong from a dishonest dealer. I just ordered the Santos de Cartier in rose gold 2022 I never liked Cartier. Thought it was just jewelry. But I'm so excited to get it now and due to helpful videos like this I am completely enthralled. I won't miss my royal oaks or my nautilus. Cartier is the future and my future on my life reboot. Great content sir, it's funny how these little thing we wear on our wrists can change us with their stories and presence. As i have gotten older I find my tastes have changed and iam more interested in these stories, history is more important to me than flash. I think Cartier is under appreciated as a watch maker, but their attention to detail is amazing as you documented in this video and the lines are near perfect so there is no need to change it. Iam looking to purchase the 0037 as i love the idea of the rubber strap with the iconic rivets as a casual wear and then the bracelet for more formal occasions, i think their catalog has something for everyone. Keep up the good work and continued success in the years to come.

      0037 is a fine piece, that one was the spark that ignited in me the passion for Cartier, but the attention turned towards the ''youtube special'' the medium one. I will try to grab the 37 model as well, IF prices will stop going up that fast. Thank you for your thoughts, Paulo!

    I always felt like Cartier Tank looks more feminine than masculine and tbh I am still not drawn to it. That initial feeling made me disregard Cartier in general. But after watching this video, I am now second guessing myself. This Santos just look really handsome! Maybe it's the production of this video, but you definitely showcased this watch better than Cartier's own website! It might be something I would wear one day, who knows! My wrist size is around 7 inch and I think I prefer that medium size as well!

    Great video and exceptional production quality. As many others I started my watch collection with something robust, the Omega SMP 300, back in 2008. Having just one watch at the beginning it is useful if that piece is versatile and can be worn at almost every occasion. With the majority of my small collection being more on the sporty side last year I felt that it was time to add something different to it and I bought a Cartier Tank Americaine in medium size. And it is truly different. It doesn't live by technical specifications or the latest innovation. Yes, it keeps time reliably as a good watch should but first and foremost it is a piece of jewellery, a piece of art. Whenever I put it on my wrist it elevates my mood.

    Fantastic video. This is a very interesting one for me, as I have been looking at this watch lately. My daily watch is a 41 mm Submariner that although I adore it most days, I work in a profession that involves client meetings and nicer attire. So I would never wear it with a suit or rarely business casual. And I manage people’s money, so I don’t want to look too loud. This watch that I currently own and wear is wonderful as a sports watch, but does not suit any business type dress. I feel as though the Santos will do double duty in that, as you’ve illustrated from your beautiful videos. It looks great with a blazer, and it looks great dressed up or down.
